what ISN’T clear is why people always say “ goes without saying, ” yet S T I L L feel compelled to say the thing that was SUPPOSED to go without saying. doesn’t that BOTHER you?
I’m not useless.
I’m just the

RUDE:
“That’s my business, not yours. –And I don’t see any reason why I should be wasting my time with you.”
“ someone’s F I E S T Y. what’s the cause ? anything i can do to HELP ? maybe PRIVATE help ? ”
You might as well take all your valuables and put them right out onto the lawn.
"Can you get nothing wrong?"
that was the wrong question to ask || ACCEPTING
“ i’m SO glad you noticed ! ”
We need to get out of here.

“ what are the signs of a concussion —— or DEATH. i may be dying. ”
@waitingforthefinishline liked this.
“ so, what brings you to this quaint but RESPECTABLE town ? ”
SHE HASN’T MENTIONED A BOY FRIEND:
she navigates her way through the crush of bodies blocking her view. it requires a herculean effort – the throng of nosy onlookers seemed never ending, and her polite ‘excuse me’s were barely heeded. right. fine. brute force is brought into play, the blonde elbowing her way through the crowd ( they were here just because they were busybodies, she reasons – she’s here for business ). it’s a minute at most before she’s confronted by someone from the behind the tape… shit, was she going to get a telling off for prying so much? ( no, apparently not. )
a soft, contemplating hum is emitted from pursed lips as he directs his question at her – she has a multitude of reasons for being particularly invested in this series of murders, but he’s not one of them, she doesn’t think, no. reasons aside, a beam tugs at the corners of her lips when the other FLIRTS – wasn’t being very professional, was he? in her experience, persons of authority were usually more uptight.
“blimey, wasn’t aware i made an impression; bit early for the biting, don’tcha think? an’… dunno, ‘m INTERESTED, s’all. — am i distracting ya? think i am.”
“ it’s NEVER too early & no, no —– no distractions. it’s WORRY mainly. a B E A U T I F U L lady, such as yourself, shouldn’t be out here all on her own. especially at a CRIME SCENE. ”
he pauses in silence for a moment, fingers resting on the crime scene tape, tapping against it. it’s usual for on-lookers at crime scenes, but it’s unusual for the same exact on-looker at every single crime scene. ‘ son, remember, the guilty party will come back to the crime to watch the chaos. ’ ‘ every time ? ’ ‘ no, not every time, but it makes your job a lot easier when they do. they’re practically begging for the attention. ’ quickly he ducks under the tape so he’s only a few inches away from her now, eyes scanning over her figure for clues, hints of where she has been or what she has been doing. a hand flies to his temple, fingers extended as he stops in his tracks.
“ —– rose ? is that your name ? ” he heard the man she was with call her by that name. “ you —— you have been TRAVELING, yes ? traveling to – ” mind tries to replay the conversations he overheard between her & this man —– “ unimportant, but the doctor ISN’T. who’s that ? is that — a pen name ? a code name ? or just a title ? ”
hand falls from his temple & he proceeds to act winded.
“ whew, rose. the spirits certainly have taken a LIKING to you — can’t say i B L A M E them. ” wink.
GUS:
‘ You’re not r e a l psychic, Shawn! You can’t tell Lassiter’s future. And the life expectancy for a male in Santa Barbara is approximately 78 years. You’re four months older than I am. When you’re on your death bed, and I’m only MONTHS away from being in the same condition, I don’t think that T H A T ’ S what I’m going to be thinking about. ’
“ i COULD be a real psychic, gus. who knows, maybe while you were off in CAHOOTS with lassie i met a sea witch & traded years of my life for psychic powers ! ”
