Derek Hale was born into a family of werewolves. His mother, Talia, was highly respected within the werewolf community meaning Derek came into contact with a number of werewolf packs growing up, and hunters too. When the Argents burned his house to the ground, and his family with it, the remaining Hale fell out of society. Few people knew much about him, other than the traumas of his past. When an alpha appeared in Beacon’s Harbor, he broke his recluse patterns to connect with Scott McCall, the newly bitten werewolf. His attempts to mentor weren’t always so well received, and his tendency to be cocky, arrogant, and stubborn at times, made him a rash leader. His motivations were always well-intended, fighting for those he cares about the the protection of his pack. When Scott refused to join him, it certainly didn’t stop Derek. Maybe he underestimated how much of a handful they would be, but Isaac, Boyd, and Erica gave him the pack he needed. To Scott, his choices were not always moral, but Derek never saw it like that. He did what was necessary, he did what an alpha had to do. The attack of the alpha pack was not unforeseen, but the return of his long-thought-to-be-dead sister was. Cora’s return to Beacon’s Harbor was a surprise, and when she was hurt by Aiden in a fight, Derek became very aware of what he could lose. The war was won in the end, but not before Derek lost his alpha status, becoming a beta. Sacrificing his power to save his only remaining sister, Cora, wasn’t much of a choice. He would always protect his sister. Being a beta again opened Derek’s eyes to Scott’s abilities as a true alpha, and what it meant for the safety of Beacon’s Harbor. When the dust settled, he and his sister moved to the city, away from the places that held so much loss for both of them to have somewhat of a fresh start. But people from Beacon’s Harbor rarely stay away for long. The threats to the town from inside and out may be enough to bring him back and fight alongside new and old allies.
CONNECTIONS
Diana Meade: Derek only has a faint memory of Diana’s mother, Elizabeth, from back before she married Diana’s father. Elizabeth was a Hale, a cousin of his mother Talia. He didn’t see her much after she married the witch, but knew she had twin girls, but after Elizabeth died and the Hale house fire, Derek didn’t make an effort to keep up with that part of his family’s connections. He kept an eye on Diana for a while, but when Malia was discovered alive after so many years, Derek’s interest was piqued. The truth about the Meade and Hale families will come out eventually, but even Derek has questions.
Damon Salvatore: Similar in dedication to those they hold closest, both Damon and Derek share the overwhelming love for the ones they love. Since Damon’s come back to town, the two have become friends. The two’s mutual view on the community bring them closer, while their opposite personalities keep their friendship evenly weighed.

The younger sister of Derek Hale, Cora grew up in a family of werewolves. She always knew exactly what she was, and like the other Hales, she embraced it. When the hunters burned her house down, and her family with it, Cora fled, injured but surviving. A nomad pack took her in, transporting her with them in her weak state. When she regained full strength and consciousness, she found that they had travelled south through Mexico, and were at the edge of Panama. Still too young and unsure to travel off on her own, Cora remained with them, continuing to South America where she stayed for six years. Word travelled through wolf packs to hers about a new alpha in the Hale family in California, bringing her back to Beacon’s Harbor for the first time since the fire. She was kidnapped upon her return by the alpha pack looking to execute their plan to recruit Scott through Derek. When Derek found her in the vault, her powers repressed for three months, Cora’s interest in her brother was overpowered by her will to keep him safe from her loss of control. Their reunion was a mix of emotions, but Cora had become her own person in the time she’d been away. They were at odds, clashing in opinions, but ultimately their familial bond kept them together. Cora was grateful for Derek’s sacrifice to save her, and when the alpha pack was ultimately defeated, she agreed to move to Beacon City with her brother. She enrolled in the college, hoping to find roots again after her more nomadic years in South America. Stubborn and brash as she is, the young werewolf may not stay away from her town for long. The circles of witches that are coming to Beacon’s Harbor could threaten the things she cares about, and Cora has never been one to step down in a fight.
CONNECTIONS
Faye Chamberlain: Because Cora was absent from the harbor town for the last six years, she never kept up with any of the people she used to know. She was, however, unsurprised to run into Faye Chamberlain and find that the girl was very much the same as who she remembered. The two girls share some similar personality traits, but have very different interests. Still, having a witch for an ally isn’t a bad thing especially since the Nemeton was recharged.
Katherine Pierce: It seems that in moving to Beacon City, Cora hasn’t escaped the strange and potentially dangerous. With the stranger’s interest in her own abilities, Cora can’t escape her questions or company. Cora can’t quite help her own curiosity either; though she doesn’t like her privacy invaded, she’s interested in what Katherine knows and what she could use to help protect her and her brother without the alpha status he once had.

It hasn’t been long since Scott, Stiles, and Allison sacrificed themselves to find their parents, bringing power back to the Nemeton. For Scott, that’s meant a lot of nightmares, and a struggle to control his abilities as a true alpha, a status that he only recently achieved. While he never wanted the bite, not at first, Scott has come to terms with what he is and now sees it as a responsibility to protect his friends and his home. Defeating the Alpha pack and the Darach was necessary to fulfill that responsibility, but the fact that people still got hurt weighs heavy on the young man’s shoulders. With a growing awareness of the supernatural beings who live in his town, Scott is more determined than ever to make sure no one gets hurt on his watch. That means aligning with the circle of witches that he’s recently come into knowledge of, though there’s still a lot that he doesn’t understand and Stiles’s enthusiasm for everything magic hasn’t quite worn off on Scott. He continues to rely on his pack, the eclectic group of friends that has come to be. While he knows he can always count on Stiles, Allison, Lydia, and Kira, living with Isaac has become a wildcard in Scott’s life, not to mention the freewill and strong-headedness of Erica and Malia. Scott has a lot on his plate, as he has since he became a werewolf. He’s determined to handle it all and still be a good student, son, and friend. But how much can one guy handle? And with the effects of the Nemeton still strong, how long before even a true alpha cracks?

Cassie Blake: Cassie arrived to town just around the same time Allison Argent did. Though the two are nowhere near as close as Scott and Allison are, he has always gone out of his way to be a friendly face. With a similar soft spoken nature, the two have become familiar with each other around Beacon Harbor. From time to time, they have spoken at school and at her work, but that’s usually it.
Tyler Lockwood: Up until this point, Scott and Tyler weren’t ever really much more than teammates. Now that Scott has learned there’s yet another werewolf joining their town club, he can’t help but feel obligated to at least keep a watch on Tyler. It raises suspicions that Tyler, and his cousin Brett are both affiliated with Derek and Cora. Scott knows he doesn’t have a prayer in reaching out to Jackson, who’s declared himself an omega, in the lone ranger’s path. But, Tyler is different, and Scott might work up the nerve to reach out. Especially if he senses any dangers of bad blood approaching Derek, and those who associate with him.

It wasn’t until Erica was about three years old that she started having frequent seizures and shortly thereafter was diagnosed with epilepsy. Through the years one of Erica’s main caregivers while in the hospital was Melissa McCall. The testing and medications caused the family to be left with very little money, sucking every ounce of income they had. As she grew up Erica was quiet and kept to herself. She didn’t have many friends when she was younger. One of her only friends as a smaller child was Isaac Lahey. They were close up until he moved to Beacon City, and though the two still managed to stay in contact, they aren’t as close as they used to be. When Erica’s not going to school at Beacon’s Harbor High, she works as a part-time waitress at Ethan Conant’s Boathouse Bar and Grill which was where she first met Adam Conant and his circle of friends. In a matter of months (mostly spent in Derek’s presence and Isaac’s), Erica grew noticeably different in spite of her parent’s concerns. Her appearance, behavior and overall mood underwent a complete one eighty turn. With her newfound strengths and gifts from the bite, Erica had given birth to a fresh new attitude. She followed Derek blindly until, in the aftermath of the attack from the Alpha pack, Derek surrendered his alpha powers to save his sister. As Isaac slowly realigned himself with Scott, Erica did the same to avoid the danger of being the lone wolf. Like Isaac, she doesn’t always agree with him, and Scott has his hands full keeping her in check.
CONNECTIONS
Cora Hale: These two haven’t had a chance to really talk, but one thing is for sure, they can both relate to feeling like outsiders in comparison to the other girls around Beacon’s Harbor, or even for Cora at the University. Neither Cora or Erica have experienced many of the traditional events that their peers have, such as parties, pampering days with the girls, one time hook-ups, etc. In a way, they’re both feeling short of girlfriends these days, which was why Erica boldly reached out to Cora. They’re not two peas in a pod, but they’re getting closer as of lately. But regardless of the politics of packs, and werewolves, this friendship is completely separate from all that.
Adam Conant: Erica is the only other employee aside from Adam who has lasted at the boathouse for longer than a couple months. In this past year or so, she and Adam have developed an acquainted friendship. Which was why she had been surprised when Adam seemed to be the only boy at school who’d seemed to be oblivious to the overnight change of appearance that came with the alpha bite. Erica took time off during the school year for obvious reasons, and returned back to waitressing once she’d made the decision to join Scott and resume her life. Because she’s "in the loop”, Erica is aware of Malia, and the mutual understanding that Scott’s pack has with Adam and his friends. Erica is still in the dark about all their “circle” business, and knows little to nothing, but she’s sure she’ll be able to get it out of Adam. Sooner, than later.

Moving to Beacon’s Harbor was an adjustment after growing up in New York. When her dad took the job at the local high school, she rather begrudgingly packed up her life and started at her new school. It took her a while to make friends, and several embarrassing interactions before anything started to improve for her. She’d always been on the shy side, though kindhearted and eager for friendship. After some time, she found a friend in Scott McCall, who was by far the nicest to her out of anyone she’d met. She was also incredibly lucky to have had him when she was kidnapped by William Barlow -- although, she ended up handling the threat on her life by herself, unleashing her unknown abilities as a Kitsune. But Scott and Stiles were there for her in the aftermath, and slowly she found out the details about what she was. Still unsure of her own powers and what it means for her relationships with others, especially werewolves who are known enemies of foxes, Kira is nervous for what could happen. She doesn't know how to fully control her powers or what she’s capable of. The fox in her has allowed her to pick up the art of sword quickly, giving her a balance and agility that she’s never possessed before. It also gave her the edge to try out and make the previously males only lacrosse team. With her reflexes enhanced and her intuition true, Kira always wants to do the right thing. Being in Scott’s pack is a source of pride, and the young Kitsune will do anything to help her friends when they’re in danger. Even if she’s the dangerous one.

John Blackwell Jr: John Blackwell Junior is the protege of his Father, and current face of the name ‘Balcoin’. Ever since his father was defeated by Cassie and Diana, he became less focused on the whereabouts of his other siblings for good reason. His father told him that even outside the original 18 Salem families, there were rare exceptions, such as Kira. Her unique powers as a kitsune ables her into channeling a powerful force of magic beyond the traditional practices. It may not be titled with the ‘witch’ lineage, but power like Kira’s is all one in the same. Especially to dark magic users like the Blackwell witches. John has started to make his move by good old-fashioned charm, in a tactful attempt at manipulation.
Lexi Branson: Kira and her mother had been taking one of Lexi’s yoga classes the day that the two girls experienced their strange encounter. The Wellness Center is built where it is for more reason that high rent and good location. It’s also located on one of the many energy point coordinates in the city. Lexi may not be a witch, but she has psychic abilities and inherent power of astral projection. Through some freak encounter between the two girls, Kira’s vibration of electric charge bounced with Lexi’s energy, leaving them stunned into a momentary shock. The collision only had a moment’s effect, enough to have them both shaken for a couple hours after. They haven’t crossed paths since, but it’s bound to happen, sooner or later.

Jackson Whittemore knew he wanted to be a werewolf as soon as he figured out exactly what had given McCall the abilities to take his captain status away. Always being competitive, ambitious, and driven to succeed in his goals at virtually any cost, Jackson sought out Derek with the intention of getting what he wanted. Becoming the Kanima was never part of his grand plan, and it was only Lydia’s presence and love that helped him remember who he was. Shortly after the incident, turning up alive after being declared dead, his parents took him away to London, England. He quickly (and with some reluctance in seeking outside help) found a pack to help him control his abilities. He was only gone a year before his father was reassigned to Beacon City, prompting the Whittemore family to move back to the area. As Jackson starts back at his old high school, he’s determined to reclaim what’s his, starting with the lacrosse team. But he’s not so sure that being an omega wolf is the best way to do it. The one thing he knows is that he would never join Scott’s pack, no matter what kind of alpha the guy was.

Jake Armstrong: Jake has never been a fan of the boastful, entitled, and spoiled Jackson Whittemore. Back before Jake left town, he successfully ripped off Jackson by charging him hundreds for “some quality weed” that he’d sell him an ounce of. Jake obviously took the money and never delivered from his end. Not that it mattered to Jackson, but it was a matter of principle, and his ego that were up at stake. Jackson’s come to find that Jake has been hooking up with Lydia, which he doesn’t like one bit. Even if him and Lydia aren’t exactly picking up where they left off, there are just too many factors about Jake that Jackson holds against him.
Tyler Lockwood: These two were born and raised together, and so obviously cut from the same cloth. Being that they were born into the life of the Founding Families, they were both entitled to privilege and a natural ease in all varsity sports. Though Tyler and Jacks have gotten along for the most part, the tables have turned for their mutually new conditions. While Jackson experienced the horrors of the kanima to reach this new state, Tyler had unusual obstacles of his own. Tyler is a different kind of werewolf, and also new to this life as much as Jackson. Seeing as it’s hard to hide amongst other weres, the two old childhood teammates will get to the point where they’re confronted with the obvious new lifestyle they both share.

Having recently discovered that a few more of his friends happen to be members of the supernatural world, Stiles has found himself involved with more than just the werewolves of Beacon’s Harbor. After learning Adam and Faye’s secret, it didn’t long or very much effort for Stiles to put two and two together, and connect Melissa, the only other witch he knew, to the pair of them. Assuming a connection to the witches could help Scott’s werewolf status for the next time something horrific rolls around that will turn their lives upside down, Stiles has grown determined to learn all he can about the witches and just how he and Scott might be able to use them to the pack’s advantage. The events surrounding his sacrifice to the Nemeton, paired with the discovery of the witches, Stiles’ rampant curiosity has been running wild, leaving the boy completely captivated by any or all things magic now that the werewolves have taken a break from tearing each other apart. Like most things, he knows there’s more to it that meets the eye, and with a bad feeling about what could be coming next, Stiles is determined to learn what he can to help protect himself and his friends.

The Circle: It all started when Stiles, Adam and Faye all fought off the kanima together. Before the circle was unbound, Stiles grew close with Adam, Faye, Melissa and Cassie. At this point, despite the circle all being somewhat estranged this past summer, Stiles is still very involved with his new, witchy friends.
Caroline Forbes: Growing up cousins with Caroline Forbes was far from uneventful. As kids, they used to terrorize the police station while their parents were working. Having drifted apart a little as they grew up, the two have recently become close again after the crisis surrounding Stiles’s dad going missing.

When Isaac was young, his mother left his family in the lurch, and his brother enlisted in the army. The remainder of the Lahey family was Isaac and his father, and after his brother was killed in combat, his father slowly became the abusive man Isaac came to fear. It was the bite from Derek that gave him power, though he never stopped being afraid of his father. When the Kanima killed him, Isaac was free to live his own life in a way he never had before. He learned to control his werewolf abilities and followed Derek blindly until he was kicked out of Derek’s loft and left to fend for himself. With no one else, Isaac turned to Scott for help. He unofficially moved in to the McCall house and slowly found himself allied with Scott’s pack of friends, feeling especially connected to Allison and her father. He feels indebted to Scott, and though he doesn’t always agree with the alpha’s decisions, nor his friends, Isaac is happy to have found a sort of home with them. A bit rough around the edges, Isaac has a good heart that prompts him to want to help whenever he can.

Davina Claire: After Isaac’s chaotic year from hell, he missed out on a lot at school. In return, he’s spending his Senior year making up a lot of classes that he should’ve completed in his Junior year. Davina is a new Junior at Beacon Harbor High this year, where the two are coincidentally on the same exact schedule. They’ve become fast friends, and are quietly aware of each other’s secrets.
Katherine Pierce: With his own travels of finding a home, it’s no surprise that Katherine Pierce’s life has drawn some interest to Isaac. As it seems he can’t escape her questions or company, she’s a new face in a town of people he cares about, so a wandering eye should be kept on her antics. Given her interest in his life, it doesn’t make it too hard to keep an eye on her as he tries to figure out what she has planned for the people he holds close and the rest of the town. While it might be a risk, getting to know Katherine Pierce might just be the edge he needs in keeping his friends safe.

Born the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (nee Hale) Meade, Malia grew up the twin sister of Diana. Elizabeth died when the girls were a few months old in the notorious boatyard fire. The girls were opposites in a lot of ways, but were best friends. Until, at the age of nine, the Hale family curse came through in her. On a full moon, she has no control of her werecoyote abilities and killed the friend and her friend’s mother who was driving her home. Malia remained in her coyote form, scared and haunted by what happened, and Charles, devastated by the presumed death of his daughter, had Diana spelled to forget Malia so that she would be spared the tragedy. But when Scott McCall and his friends forced her to resume her human form, everything changed. She was told to resume her life with her sister, whom she found out was a witch, and try to find normalcy in attending school. But nothing feels normal to her. She’s most interested in gaining control over her powers, with the help of her new pack and her family, so that no one will be hurt by her again.

Diana Meade: Malia has no gaps in her memory like Diana does, and feels a lot more attached to her than the other way around. Their relationship is far from easy, and Diana does seem to be working, though she clearly has a lot on her mind. Their father sacrificed himself to stop the witch hunters, rendering him essentially comatose with demons trapped inside him, meaning that Diana is the only family she has left. Except the Hales, though their connection remains unknown.
Damon Salvatore: Damon certainly remembers the Meade twins, and knowing as much as he does about the secrets of the town, he’s more than a little interested in the circumstances around her presumed death and reappearance. She gets a strange feeling from him, and just being cousins with his sister’s friend Melissa doesn’t cut it for her trusting him.

As the notorious ‘bad girl’ of Beacon’s Harbor, Faye was always known for her rude, reckless, and impulsive behavior. Despite her usual appearance as a solo act, Faye is also part of the Beacon’s Harbor Circle, who she has come to care deeply for. But, that’s a secret she’ll never admit out loud. Her circle members see her as the rebel of the group. And unlike them, Faye came to establish her powers through hints dropped by her mother, Dawn. Being the most resilient, she’s always the quickest of the circle to spring back into shape, and adapt. Which has turned out to be an advantageous trait for her, especially with what’s to come. Naturally, Faye has found a way to enjoy her play time, resulting in a fierce determination to master her craft this past summer. Other extracurricular activities include her involvement with her nearest and dearest friend, Tyler, and his triggered werewolf curse. It’s been a slippery slope for the two friends coming into things they’ve never known before.

Davina Claire: The unlikely friendship between the two girls began one late night in Beacon City, when Faye had been meeting with some sketchy magical artifact dealer. A bunch of his friends showed up in attempts to scavenge her magic. Though Faye certainly could’ve fought them off herself, Davina had been lurking the right alley at the right time. Davina stepped in with her magic to helped Faye fight off the guys, and the two slowly hit it off. They aren’t best friends and Faye would hardly even use the term ‘friend’, especially with Davina’s secret about who she really is.
Tyler Lockwood: Aside from Melissa, Tyler is Faye’s closest friend. They’ve been best friends since childhood, and have established a deep trust between one another. Tyler is the only exception outside her circle, and on most days, considered more like family than others. The two friends are both very much aware of each other’s new abilities and conditions, and by this far, have kept one another’s secrets.

It hasn’t been long since Allison, Scott, and Stiles sacrificed themselves to find their parents, bringing power back to the Nemeton. For Allison, it’s meant hallucinations and several near misses with her arsenal of hunter’s weapons. She didn’t expect much when she moved to Beacon Harbor, but learning about her family’s hunting past and the supernatural creatures in the area was far from her list of expectations. She’s grown into the role, and in losing her aunt and mother has found a strength she didn’t know she had. Her father, Chris, and her are coming to terms with everything they’ve been through, creating a new motto for their family to live by. With supernatural creatures flocking to Beacon Harbor, Allison knows that danger lies ahead and is determined to continue her training as a hunter and fight for her cause. Alongside her friends and family, she’s vowed to protect those who cannot protect themselves, even if that means putting herself in danger.

Alaric Saltzman: Allison never really knew her second cousin Ric, and was rather surprised to find out from her dad that he would be her history teacher. She’s not sure of his motivations for coming to town, but she wants to be able to trust him.
Elena Gilbert: Ever since Allison moved to Beacon’s Harbor last year, she and Elena have grown incredibly close, despite being a grade apart. The Gilberts and the Argents go way back as both families have been known to hunt supernatural creatures. The two girls have been through their fair share of traumas, with Allison losing her Mother, and Elena with both her parents. But, they’ve been there for each other in ways that they’ve never experienced amongst other friends before.
