The cat whom this blog is about is a feral who was picked up by a local animal rescue as a very small kitten. She was socialized and named Beans, but the person who socialized her remarked that she was still very much a biter.
Beans was returned to the rescue and put up for adoption with this picture:

I saw her little face up on that adoption website, and I knew right away that I needed this weird little kitten in my life, even if she was a biter.
So I went to the animal rescue before work and asked to see this little baby. She was curled up inside a little cave bed, and I stuck my hand inside to pet her. She just sat there, staring at me with her slightly unnerving eyes. (Thought she was just scared, but no, that's just how she looks.) Not even a nibble. So I sent my partners to also visit this cat and adopt her if they liked her.
Well, they fell in love with her, and soon, they were riding home with an anxious little feral.
But what to name her?
Well, with our previous cat, my gf and I would go into the other's room, and upon seeing the other with this cat, we've exclaim "who's that?" One day, my gf replied out of nowhere with "Oh, that's Beanloaf." Once we finished laughing, we decided that would be an amazing cat name.
And this new cat was already named Beans. Might as well just tag on a "loaf."
Thus, Beanloaf was brought home, where she promptly drilled into a box spring and did not emerge again for two whole days. It took a while for us to get her to trust us, and for a while, we were worried we might not be a good fit. But slowly, she's come out of her shell, and we've seen her true personality. She's a very weird cat with a lot of silly quirks. She plays fetch. She doesn't understand how blankets work. Her eyes are wild and make her look like she's possessed by some sort of forest spirit. Instead of meowing, she makes a variety of warbles, trills, beeps, and squeaks. If she does meow, it's because she's feeling a big emotion like excitement, loneliness, or a craving for wet food.
And yes, she does bite. It's just that she doesn't bite strangers, not even the vet! Her gnawing is reserved only as a sign of affection, and she loves us all very, very much. (Ow...)
