"Do you know if they had to suffer?" The question came quietly, almost childlike. Loki stroked his back in a soothing rhythm.

"It was quick. They did not have to suffer, Tony." He felt Tony’s nod against his chest and ignored the fact that the man was crying. Pain had to come out somewhere, and Loki knew this way well.

They stayed like that for a while, the silence broken only by muffled sobs and sniffles, until even those faded.
