You held me when I was little. You were my first friend, my first hug, my first everything. You clapped as I took my first steps, cried my first day of school, and laughed the first time I tried to do the monkey bars.
These memories are all so vivid in my brain. I could sit all day and smile as I played them back in my head over and over and over. These are the memories I think about when things are bad. Unfortunately these times did not last and come 7 years old I had to take care of a toddler and an infant while you and my father drank your lives away while we hid. I changed diapers, made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and reassured my brother and sister that everything was ok and that you two were just "tired" and not drunk. It's hard to believe that you've been drunk for 10 years almost. I watched my father turn his life around, apologize, give up everything for his children, and recently reach an entire year of sobriety. I wish I could say the same for you but unfortunately you still spend your nights locked in your room drowning yourself in wine and watching my life and yours tick away. All you have ever done for me in these past years as I transitioned from a girl to a young lady is destroy my self image, give me unimaginable anxiety, and blame me for every single problem in your life including your drinking. I am tired of you telling me I am wrong. I AM NOT WRONG. I raised your children. I raised your three beautiful, determined, and strong children. Me, my brother, and my sister are good people. I did a good job. I am proud of who I am and who they are. I am tired of you telling me that there is nothing wrong with you and that everything is wrong with me. I'm tired of you comparing yourself to my father. I am tired of everything. I have no more energy to pursue a relationship with a woman who has no self value, no self control, and no capability to admit her wrong doings. I am finally going to accept that I don't have a strong mother figure, move on with my life, and one day be a damn good mom. - Your Daughter
