I feel like a moth drawn to a flame.

It's my 15 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳

Apparently I started my Tumblr account on May 20, 2011, a few days after my car accident on May 17, 2011. It’s been 15 years of on and off and varying degrees of pain. I don’t resent the girl who caused the accident, but I do resent the fact that it happened.

I slowly fell deeper and deeper without realizing it. Feelings creep up on you just like that.

Hong Kong has so many temples dedicated to different gods and deities. One may not believe in them, but there is something about going somewhere and making a sincere wish. Regardless of religion or whether you believe in a higher being, it is a moment of honesty when you acknowledge your wish.

What a nice feeling it is to have someone in your thoughts.

Yesterday was a really happy day. I did work that I actually liked doing, saw my cousins for the first time in so many years, explored a beautiful historic hotel, had drinks with my friend, and made a new friend.

I used to be pretty good about sending handwritten notes and letters in the mail, but I fell out of that habit a few years ago. A few months ago, my friends and I were talking about how snail mail was dying. I mentally made a commitment to myself to resume sending handwritten notes and letters. It’s simply something that I enjoy doing, so I’m happy that it can brightens people’s days.

Today, I saw a few old friends and acquaintances that I had lost touch with for over a decade. I felt so much joy seeing them doing well and happy.

To wish someone happiness and see them happy is what makes me happy.

When did the feelings start? Was it the first meeting? Did it creep up little by little? Nevertheless, I realized it was there after that moment.

Words can be so simple, yet the right words at the right time, intentionally or not, are so powerful. I am thankful for the moments in life when simple words uplifted me.

In that moment, I felt a joy that I had not felt in so long. Thank you for that first and last dance.
