I've been reading a lot in my free times in hope of finding a little bit of motivation to write more. I'd hate to write half-assed chapters just for the sake of writing them. Yoongi gently shook (Y/N)âs shoulder, whispering her name in an attempt to wake her up. He had not dared to do so when they took a short break at a station. She had been sleeping so deeply against his shoulder that Yoongi had believed it would be easier to just let her be. Hence, he stayed with her in the car, not wanting to move her around, knowing how much of a light sleeper she was. He would have felt bad for waking her up just to stretch his legs. However, now that they had arrived, he didnât have a lot of choices left if he actually wanted them to unpack. The rest of the boys had already gone ahead. Yoongi had asked for help with their tent once heâd start with it, and Seokjin had brushed him off, laughing as he told Yoongi to completely leave it to them. Despite trying to refuse his offer, Seokjin merely rolled his eyes and Jimin went ahead to help him with Yoongiâs and (Y/N)âs tent. Yoongi watched them struggle from afar, somewhat grateful not to have to do it in the end (trust Yoongi not to forget to film them, for memory purposes only, obviously, no blackmail involved). Still, they somehow succeeded, cheering loudly once they were done before yelling to Yoongi that they were finished (he already knew, but well, his friends were sometimes too enthusiastic about literally everything).
Regardless, Yoongi still had to wake up (Y/N). Her eyes fluttered open but she just hid her face in the crook of his neck, earning a soft chuckle from Yoongi.
âWhat are you doing? We need to move from the car.â He smiled as he brushed a few strands of hair from her face.
âCanât we just stay there?â Yoongi chuckled again, amused at her childlike behavior.
âI donât think Seokjin-hyung and Jimin would appreciate it if we slept in the car after the time it took them to set up our tent.â She groaned at his words, knowing the truth behind them (little did she know that Yoongi had recorded the whole thing for his own entertainment). Yoongi would probably be the last person to be bothered if they were to stay in the car, but Seokjin would definitely throw a fit and Jimin would use this against her in due time.
âI get it. Letâs get going,â stretching her neck a little, she yawned against Yoongiâs shoulder before he opened the door to get the both of them outside. The air had definitely gotten a little colder, (Y/N) shivered instantly at the feeling, goosebumps creeping on her arms. Yoongi draped his arm around her waist, bringing her body closer to his, and they both made their way to the tents with their backpacks hanging over their shoulders. Jungkook watched them coming to them slowly, swaying gently while laughing and Taehyung huffed next to him.
âItâs been a while since I saw them like that.â Namjoon chuckled, looking away while Taehyungâs eyes followed the couple closely.
âItâs different. It felt like it was their duty to be close. Now, they just lookâŠâ Namjoon pensively looked at the giggling couple with a smile creeping on his face. Their joy was strangely infectious, âthey just look happy.â He huffed softly, before sighing heavily, âit doesnât mean that theyâre fine. Far from it, most likely. But it means something to them. Itâs good to see (Y/N) smiling without forcing it. Same for Yoongi. We all know theyâre struggling, but theyâll make it. Thatâs what matters in the end.â Jungkook looked back at Yoongi and (Y/N), glued to each other and he wondered what the other thought. If both Namjoon and Taehyung were so affected just to see them smiling, Jungkook couldnât help but wonder what they heard, and what they saw for the past few months. It wasnât something he often considered since he met (Y/N) only once, but for the whole group to be so affected⊠Jungkook had a hard time understanding everything that was surrounding the couple.
The thought made Jungkook check for her hands, hidden in her pockets. Weirdly, his stare seemed to have caught her attention, eyes falling on his form, meeting his curious orbs. Uncomfortable. It was obvious that she grew instantly uneasy seeing that he was looking at her hidden hands and the realization made Jungkook feel awful. Nobody seemed to have realized what had happened but still, Jungkook felt the need to hide somewhere. He had barely interacted with (Y/N), of course, so his staring would make her feel uncomfortable. The moment seemed to disappear as soon as Yoongi got between them, somehow noticing the strange vibe from the two of them without needing any words to be uttered. He didnât do anything extravagant. Only hugging her slightly before wordlessly leading her to their tent. Her smile was back in an instant, soft as if nothing happened, earlier embarrassment was almost forgotten (probably not completely, but at least for the time being). Jungkook heard Yoongi complain about the tent setting and Seokjinâs loud reply, while a quiet giggle escaped (Y/N). It was almost surprising, but no one said anything or stopped to comment on it. It just felt so natural, and Jungkook wondered how it could feel natural to him who didnât know them before the accident. Maybe he was getting a glimpse at how they used to be before the tragedy that stole a part of their lives. Yoongi was tying her hair in a ponytail while she was trying to move their backpack to the side of the tent to install their sleeping bags. The scene was mundane, nothing remarkable was happening, and yetâŠ
Jungkook watched in awe (maybe he shouldnât after making (Y/N) feel so embarrassed), maybe if he had to name two people to embody âtrue loveâ he would choose them. He couldnât really explain the sensation that overwhelmed him as he watched them, but those delicate touches, simple eye contact, and hidden smiles made him feel so serene. It wasnât anything extravagant, they did not display any outrageous romantic attention to each other, and yet, it was obvious that they were each otherâs safe place. Everything around them seemed to feel at peace, to slow down for some reason, as if synchronized to their every breath.
They were in their own bubble but still enveloping the whole group with their warmth. Jungkook smiled softly despite himself. Maybe he could understand a little bit more the nostalgia in Namjoonâs eyes while watching them. He had originally dreaded spending 4 days with the group, not knowing if it was his place to be part of their trip. However, he felt like maybe it would be nice to spend it in their company.
While the wind sang quietly in the forest, the lake was still and Jungkook hoped that their trip would be as tranquil as the atmosphere.

It wasnât like Yoongi to be so silent. Usually, he would at least answer messages to tell them he couldnât come. He didnât leave anyone on read, so his behavior obviously worried his friends. Hoseok had managed to get him to answer one of his call, one night. They ended up talking for hours and Hoseok sent a short message on their group chat, saying he needed to process everything before giving news about Yoongi and (Y/N). Jungkook had waited, wondering what could have been happening for Hoseok to tell them to wait so that he could process everything. He had jumped on his phone as it had lightened up, reading Hoseokâs name on the screen. His eyes widened a bit when he read the message.
âTurns out itâs been a rough few weeks/months for them. They spend their time in and out of the hospital. Apparently, (Y/N) burnt her hands badly. Sheâs getting better and going to therapy again. Itâs a step forward, even Yoongi tries not to get too excited about it. Heâs worried itâs only going to hurt (Y/N) more, like the first time she tried it. Theyâre holding up⊠I donât know for how long, but theyâre trying. I wish there was more I could do to help.â
Things were rough; Hoseok had a hard time explaining everything they talked about, and even just summing up everything seemed to be taking a toll on him. The main point had been that (Y/N)âs state had definitely worsened, and Yoongi didnât feel like leaving her alone would be a safe choice.
Hence, Jungkook had certainly not expected the couple to accept the invitation to a camping trip during the summer, nor for them to actually show up. It was something they all used to do when they were still students, Seokjin told him. Each summer, they used to go somewhere, to the beach or to the mountains, it didnât really matter as long as they left for a few days. They decided to leave for 4 days so that everyone could come (two days off were easy to ask for, more could have complicated the whole trip). Jungkook did not think he would be invited to the trip, since it seemed to be a ritual between them. However, Jimin and Taehyung laughed at him, telling him that of course he was invited. Hence, here he was, waving at his friends as he came off the bus, happily bouncing with his bag on his back while he saw Yoongiâs car parking next to Seokjin's. Jungkook smiled as he saw Yoongiâs cheeky grin as he rolled down the window.
âHi everyone, âbeen a while.â Laughter erupted as if it was the funniest thing Yoongi ever said, and Jungkook was left confused. He brushed it off, following everyone to greet the two missing travelers who were climbing out of the car. âI hope youâre both ready because weâre leaving right away since you were late,â Hoseok smirked a bit. Jungkook snorted, he was late as well, but no one commented on it so he kept quiet.
âIâd love to blame (Y/N) for that, but we all know Iâm the one whoâs never on time,â Yoongi replied, almost bored.
âYeah, donât you dare bring (Y/N) in this when we all know you wouldnât have been ready had she not been there!â Yoongi smiled at Jiminâs words, despite knowing that it wasnât true. Had he waited for her to be done, they would still be in their apartment. She had been unsure about coming, thinking that sheâd just hold them back until Yoongi persuaded her (her therapist also insisted on the fact that it could be good for her to change her environment). Worry had overwhelmed her in the morning and she had been close to asking Yoongi if they could still cancel. Though, she knew Hoseok had already paid for their campsite. She wouldnât dare waste money.
"Let's get going, who's sitting with whom?" Seokjin asked gently, hoping for it to be quick.
"Can we have a quiet car and the energetic ones go together? I want to sleep." Yoongi yawned, tiredly rubbing his eyes, while Seokjin chuckled.
"All right, not a bad idea. So who's coming with Yoongi, (Y/N), and I?" Namjoon happily joined the group, leaving the youngest ones in Hoseok's care. Yoongi would happily give his car to him as long as it meant that he could have a quiet trip. Not that they were going far away, but still. He knew (Y/N) desperately needed to sleep and he would be enjoying himself a lot more if music was not blasting in his ears.
Seokjin was happy to be part of the quiet team, finally in peace to drive, while Namjoon tiredly gave him the directions and made sure to talk to him for the both of them to stay awake. As he glanced at his rear-view mirror, he caught the two lovers silently sleeping on the back seat and he warmly smiled.
âItâs going to be nice to spend 4 days together.â He whispered, eyes still on the road. Namjoon rose an eyebrow at the sudden melancholy he could hear in Seokjinâs voice.
