i have to say, with all the problems we have with the rewrite, i love love how much they expanded on trotter and monty’s lore. We also get a lot more background on kamilla too so that’s really really nice !

I especially love how this paints trotter as ‘imperfect’ in a way. One thing that peeves me about the fandom is how they treat trotter sometimes—yes, he didn’t deserve to watch his crew die and get assimilated, but people keep acting like he’s never done anything wrong in his entire life. For the love of the ancients, his nickname is “the scourge of the seven seas”, that nickname is only given to the pirates of the /worst kind/

he has definitely done some devious, brutal, genuinely, downright sadistic things to get this title. he is not a saint, stop treating him like that.

On the topic of trotter being a menace. What the fuck wdym he just 2v1’d monty and kamilla??? Actual neg diff????? But seriously, i love monty and kamilla and their stupid stupid shenanigans. I really do wonder what would have happened if monty and kamilla were the ones who arrived at the red sun temple rather than the crew.

Another thing, i kinda like the ‘foreshadowing’ in monty’s account of the story—how he says he saw ghosts on the ship. We’ve always interpreted this as monty realizing what kind of fate he would have had if he and kamilla found that map, that belief cemented even more once he saw trotter’s eyes gleam once kamilla mentioned/gave him the map. also no this definitely wont factor in how we write ancienttrotter nono, intertwined fated is such a far fetched concept like who would even do that right guys haha. guys?

I really hope we get more kamilla/monty interactions. Hetslop this hetslop that this is a hetgem in my humble opinion
