Oh no.
Itās not even scary anymore itās just a fact of life that no one notices
Shajar al-Durr (Arabic for Tree of Pearls) was said to be of Turkish or Armenian origin when arriving to Ayyubid Court. She was described as pious, intelligent, and beautiful, and was bought by As-Salid Ayyub in the Levant before he became Sultan of Egypt. When he became Sultan of Egypt in 1240, she came with him, married him, and bored him a son named Khalil. When her husband died in 1249, his son suceeded him as Sultana of Egypt, Turanshah. Turanshah had a brief reign from 1249-50, but was abusive in power. Shajar al-Durr had him disposed and killed, and took full power as Sultana with the support of the military and court. Shajar remarried, Izz al-Din Aybak as her co-monarchĀ becoming the second female Muslim in Islamic History to rule in her own right. When the French tried to take Egypt, she defeated them and took Louis IX as hostage until a treaty had been issued and he was released. Aybak wanted to take two more wives and Shajar did not agree with this. In 1257 he was strangled by her orders in his bath by servants. This began Shajarās downfall, for later in 1257, she was said to be the one to do the killing by her own stepsonās ladies, and was arrested to the Red Tower. She was stripped and beaten to death, and her body was found in the Citadel. Some historians say that she was dragged by her feet and thrown into the moat, left for three days, wearing nothing but pearls and smelling of musk. Shajar laid to rest in a tomb near the Mosque of Tulun, and is decorated with a mosaic of theĀ ātree of lifeā. Though her fate was harsh, Shajar al-Durr will forever be known as one of the most famous female Muslim Monarchs in Islamic History.

Ankhesenamun, meaning āHer Life is of Amunā, at aged thirteen, married her half-brother Tutankhamun, becoming queen of the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt. When the young Pharaoh died, he left Ankhe alone without an heir in her early twenties. She continued in the official capacity as queen of Egypt and played a major role in finding a successor. Itās not known where her body was placed upon her death, no funerary objects with her name are known to exist; this leaves the chance that her tomb is still somewhere out there, waiting to be found.

Fayum Mummy Portraits, dating from around 30 BC to the mid 3rd century AD.Ā
The portrait heads were attached to Egyptian mummies of the Roman period, covering the faces of the deceased In the top pictures, you can see now they were bound to the mummy. Dating from the time of the Roman occupation of Egypt, they are closest to Graeco-Roman artistic traditions. Around 900 are known to survive and they are some of the only surviving evidence of Classical panel painting traditions. Due to their burial in hot, dry conditions with the bodies, many have survived in excellent condition.Ā
The termĀ Fayum comes from an area of graveyards (necropoli) where they were found in large numbers, buried in communal catacombs.Ā
Painted on wooden board (and sometimes on cloth), either in encaustic (wax) or egg tempera.Ā
Necklace of Princess Khnumit, detail
The beautiful necklace of Princess Khnumit was found on her mummy. It was worn by the deceased princess not only as jewelry, but also as an amulet to protect her from the evil powers in the netherworld. It is formed of a series of amulets on either side of a central composition. They are arranged in a symmetrical way between two rows of gold beads.
The center of the necklace is decorated with the Ankh sign, meaning āeternal life,ā depicted over the Hetep sign, which signifies āpeace.ā
Ten amulets are arranged on each side of the Ankh: the User sign indicating power; the vulture goddess Nekhbet and the cobra goddess Wadjet, guardian deities of Upper and Lower Egypt; the goddess Bat depicted as a human head with cowās ears and two feathers on her head; the eye of Horus, the Udjat, which ensured health and well-being for the wearer; the Khenem pot meaning āunionā; the Djed pillar for stability; another Ankh; then the trachea with the lungs, which also means union; and the bee, the symbol of Lower Egypt.
The amulets are made of gold, set with semiprecious stones, such as carnelian, turquoise and lapis lazuli. There are also the fasteners of the necklace, which are in the form of falconās heads.

HC Discussion Time- Turian Body Care
Thank you very much @gryphonrampant for your thoughts on this and the idea with the Dentips ;)
Basics:
Turians donāt sweat
Mouths are mostly dry (due to gap in jaw), so less chance of āmorning breathā
Same as with humans, their talons, both on the hands and the feet, have to be filed at regular intervals unless theyāre being shortened naturally through manual labour or walking barefoot
Their hide can flake if getting too dry or if theyāre malnourished or have skin conditions such as atopic eczema, which shows as discoloration, inflammation and flaking around the edges of the plates
Plates: Made of two layers (inspired by THIS AWESOME POST, my fave so far). A thin, slightly waxy top layer (similar to the cere on budgie noses), underneath are layers of the actual plates. The top plate layers and cere renew slowly, like human skin, unless injuries run too deep, in which case scars and gashes remain
Daily beauty care:
Since they donāt sweat, turians will usually dry-brush unless very dirty
In prehistoric times, they sandbathed
Daily showers or baths are uncommon, simply because the water spray can get into their mouths and thatās uncomfortable. Steam showers are used on spaceships as they use way less water than regular showers. Public bathing and lounging in shallow thermal waters is however a popular pastime, similar to spas or Japanese onsen
Since turian mouths are mostly dry, oral care is done by an enzyme toothy tab dissolved on the tongue to break down bacteria/ get rid of bad breath and a tongue scraper, plus little sponges (similar to Dentips) to dislodge any buildup on teeth if needed
Possible crusts/discharge from eyes or nose are removed with a cloth and a little unscented plain oil or water
Colony markings are semi-permanent and redone every few years, but if they start to fade or get blotchy before that time, turians might choose to do daily touch-ups before getting them redone at a specialized place
For dry-brushing, they use a set of brushes for different body parts: One each for face, body, hide, sometimes a small brush for in between the plates, and a soft buffing brush (itās a huge beauty industry!)
A quick morning brushing starts with the stiffer body brush, then hide, then face, finishing with a buffing brush to make the plates shine
For additional shine and for keeping both the cere and hide hydrated and to avoid rough patches/ flaking, skin oil is used (often scented, but some prefer odorless oil) and applied with a cloth as last step of the beauty regimen.
When done efficiently, this takes maybe ten minutes, but depending on the individual and their vanity, morning brushing can take a lot of time
Brushing and oiling each other is considered intimate, and couples often preen and brush each other as a bonding ritual and shared relaxation
has this been done before idk but if it hasnāt thatās a travesty
