Your eyes swell up with tears that were threatening to spill out as you frantically tried to stop the blood gushing from your leg wound with your pressured hands.
“Its okay y/n, youre okay” You try to soothe yourself as you groan out of pain. How could you be so stupid and get sliced by a broken tree branch? What would the people of berk think when they saw the toughest girl in town Injured over a simple fall? You thought of all the ridicule you might receive and disapproval from the older vikings, But none of that scared you more than what Hiccup could think.
The disappointment, the Shame, the Embarrassment Hiccup would feel once he found out his Girlfriend had clumsily fallen and cut herself while claiming to be the best hunter ever was too much for you to handle. You seeked Hiccups validation alot more than you’d liked to admit. It terrified you to think about the look on hiccups face or what he might say which is why you couldn’t go back to berk. Not for awhile atleast.
You started to think of way you could survive out in the forest with an injured leg when on the other side of the trees Hiccup was worried sick about you. It had been hours past when you usually came home from hunting. He paced back and forth debating whether or not to go looking for you since all the other times you were gone for hours, you had just lost track of time and ended up being fine. Hiccup wanted to trust that everything was okay but somewhere deep in his soul that was connected to yours panged with urgency that something was wrong. Hiccup made his way to toothless after contemplating and began searching.
Hiccup flew to where you usually hunt and called your name out dozens of times. He saw no signs of you but toothless did. Toothless spotted your foot trail like a hawk and followed it until they found you held up against a tree. The scene looked horrific, the leaves, your leg, the fur from your clothing, Covered in dried up blood. You were sweating and breathing extremely heavily. Hiccup immediately hopped off of toothless and ran to your side.
“Baby what happened!?” He scooped you up into his arms. “Did someone do this?” Hiccups beautiful eyes looked like they had been possessed with darkness, The thought of another person laying hands on you made hiccup believe he had the ability to kill.
“No- no i fell.” You quickly clarified. He looked at you in disbelief and concerned, His heart hurt looking at his girl with a cut on her leg and her face in pain. he ran to toothless, You winced at every step he took and gripped onto the clothing on his arms tightly. ‘I know, im sorry baby, hold on’ Came out of hiccups mouth several times as he heard your noises. He held you as you two flew all the way home and carried you to the bathroom to bandage you up.
“I got it hiccup, thank you” you attempted to grab the bandages from his hands but he quickly moved away. “No, stay still.” He firmly stated. You gulped out of nervousness, Was he upset that he had to go out of his way to look for you and take care of you? You couldn’t tell because though he was very stern, He was so gentle with you. His warm hands carefully wrapped the bandage around your thigh. His face was so determined and sad, it made you feel so guilty.
“Are you okay?” He calmly asks you. You nodded while avoiding eye contact with him. He sighs and grabbed your chin and turned it towards him. He cups your face and kisses your forehead. “Why didn’t you call out for me? You know i wouldve came to you in a heartbeat” He whispers. You try to look away again out of shame but his grasp made it impossible.
“I was scared. I fell and hurt myself and i was scared you would get mad and everyone would hate me and-“ words began to spill out of your mouth before you could even comprehend what you were saying. Hiccup took his hand and gently covered your mouth.
“Shhh, y/n i promise im not mad at you, no one is mad that you got hurt.” Hiccup explains as he pushed the hair back from your face. “Im just really grateful my baby’s alive.” hiccup pulls you into a hug. The way he tightly clutched onto your back and didn’t let you go showed he needed that hug alot more than words could say.
“Never again. You’re never leaving my side again sweetheart.” You softly laugh at his words. Hiccup knew you were a very independent woman that liked to do your own tasks but he would give everything up before he lets you get hurt again. He didn’t care if he had to convince you or carry you on his back while you protested against it, Knowing that you were next to him, in his protection where nothing could hurt you, was a far greater feeling than anything he could ever imagine.
