“She thinks she’s aaaall that…” Admit it. Raise your hand if you’ve fallen to mumbling this phrase and trying to avoid like the plague, someone mumbling this phrase about you? I did... for years! Being gifted, talented, smart and attractive… caused a lot of what people would THINK wouldn't… jealousy. That jealousy from others would make me shrink to their level at times so I didn't feel like I was TRYING to be better than them. I was ALWAYS looking out for others’ feelings and adjusting my behavior to make OTHERS more comfortable. I'm the queen of compassion, oftentimes at my expense. As a result, I dimmed my shine. I turned down the volume. I muted my voice and now… I'm paying for it. In an innocent and honest attempt to be humble and practice humility, I settled into mediocrity. Instead of pushing to be great and to be better and better, I settled. I shirked routine and responsibility, disguised it as “freedom” and developed some habits that I'm actively working to change. How many of us have started singing a tune that didn't belong to us, only to look up one day and think, “My God! How did I get HERE?” It's time to take a critical look at your life. Inventory your thoughts… Your routines and get it together. Life is to be lived ON purpose WITH purpose daily. As Jim Stovall says, “Life is not a practice game!” It's time to make purposeful moves that matter greatly in your life. He's babbling up a storm now since his first birthday! I loooove the string of words and inflections in his voice! They are adorable and with conviction! The facial expressions to accompany them are also precious! Wow! The fuuuun continues!!! This morning, he FINALLY said "ma ma." I'm sure he hasn't made the connection with that as an identifier for me. Nevertheless, it sounds sweet. My husband tried to dampen my moment by saying, "Don't worry! It's been a One-derful year! … 2015, the first year of biological motherhood has “birthed” amazing things within me. The way I view my time, relationships, priorities, temperament, and more has been transformed with a new vigor and purpose by his presence. We’ve captured our son’s first year moment by moment and savored every drop!
