Traveling to Kota Belud

I was able to spend some time from my busy schedule and visited Kota Belud last week.

It is a nice town and everyone is friendly. I was there with a friend to visit the  Tamu Kota Belud, which is only open on Sunday from 6am to 1pm.

I went there on Sunday by taking a bus from the Padang Merdeka bus terminal. The bus fare is only RM8 and it take about 1 hour to reach our destination.

It was a smooth ride and we manage to see a horse farm along the way when we almost reach Kota Belud.

I travel very light and only bring along a few T-shirt and a pant with me so I went straight to the Tamu with my friend.

We decided to walk from the town to Tamu, which is seperated by a steep hill. And there's this stairs where you have to walk through to get here. I really think the mayor or anyone should consider maintaining the cleanliness of this place and keep the weeds trimmed. At least make sure it looks nice for Sunday since that's the way when people are going to walk through it to get to the Tamu.

This is Rokok Kirai - a type of cigarette that is famous among the locals here. The price is quite cheap too :)

My friend brought me to see one of the wedding in his village in Lebak Engad and I noticed there's this special box wrapped with colorful decoration hanging from 2 bamboos. This is one of the special ceremony among the Bajau tribe in Kota Belud, known as Sepak Manggis where the male will try to kick a takraw ball and target the hanging decoration. If they successfully hit it, they will get prizes that fall down from it. I was not there when they tried the Sepak Manggis... too bad :(

I went to this town with the intention to stay in a backpacker hostel but I was not able to find any in the town area. There are a few budget hotel around here but I decided to stay in KB Traveler's Lodge because they have free wifi. I had to pay RM50 for the room. And to my surprise the room that they gave me have 1 double decker and 2 single beds.... Oh well...

The other budget hotel that are available around this area cost about RM68 per night, so I guess this is still the best option if you intend to stay in this town.

I also managed to check out the night market here. Not too big but they have very economical (cheap) and delicious food here. They are open on Sunday night from 7pm to 11pm.

There are actually a lot more that I wanted to do here but I was running out of time. I am planning to visit Kuala Abai and also ride the horse in Kota Belud. Hopefully I can make it again to this beautiful town one day.

Another 2 Steps Back

Good morning Friday.

I woke up this morning with a usual payment from my buyer and then 2 different emails saying the existing subscription is going to be cancelled. Bummer :(

And then, I accidentally put my paypal account to pay for the facebook ads. That doesn't seem to work because I was using virtual credit card to verify my account. What a start for Friday.

It's time to work harder and get more subscribers to sustain the cash flow...

Sabah Intruded By Pirates

Sorry I have been quiet lately. There's so many things that happened lately and I was too busy with my daily activities.

A remote part of Sabah has recently been intruded by a bunch of pirates proclaiming themselves as the Royal Army of Sulu. The truth is, their mastermind, Jamalul Kiram III is just one insane leader who has driven his people on a suicide mission.

My advice is, please surrender and go back to your family. Develop your own Jolo island into a tourism spot.

Poslambat or Poslaju KK (Sabah)

I was supposed to receive my parcel yesterday from Poslaju. I intend to self collect but  but for some reason I couldn't call their office at all since 8am.

The Poslaju Kota Kinabalu number can only be called during lunch break and after 5pm. You can try to give them a call.

The First Week of 2013

Can you believe it? It's the 6th day of 2013 already. I have been getting pretty busy processing article orders from my customers. Something that I have been doing for quite some time now.

I also found out several ways to cool my laptop down. I am not talking about the usual boring laptop fan, ok?

Bottle cap

I just get the bottle cap and keep them in their place by using double-sided tape. How does that sound? ;) You can check out the tutorial here if you need it.

Magical H Laptop Stand

I found this in a local pc shop in Center Point. Not bad :)

And best of all, both of them cost less than RM5, nice eh?

I'll probably get a new LCD screen soon so I can watch movie while I surf the net, how cool would that be? ;)

2013 New Year Resolution

2013 is just around the corner and I guess it's about time for me to draft out my new year resolution.

Making my first million before I am 30

I am going to be 29 in this coming February, so I really need to prioritize my time and commitment properly to achieve my goal of becoming a millionaire before I reach 30. I have set this goal ever since I am 20 and it's been 9 years. I don't have anything to show for it, yet but I am sure anything is possible if I discipline myself and use strict risk management in my forex trading. I am quite certain I can achieve this goal in 2013.

Learn more about Islam & al-Quran

Religion is obviously one of the most important aspect in our life. I would like to start learning how to read the arabic alphabets and be able to read the al-Quran verses.

Get a car for my parents

Last year has been a tough year for our family and we lost our family car in a dispute with my uncle. So I really want to get a new car for my mom and dad. A Hilux or Pajero would be great for them.

Buy a house

It's about time for me to get myself a house and settle down. Something simple like the picture below would be perfect for me.

Get married

I am planning to get married next year. The exact timing is still not being decided yet.I am thinking of maybe June or July.

Good Bye 2012

Year 2012 has been a great year for me, there were plenty of ups and downs that helped me to grow as a man.

There were many things that I wished I didn't do, but they probably happen for a reason.

Forex

I think one of the major thing that happened to throughout 2012 was forex trading. I'll admit I do not make a lot of money from it, yet, but I know, if I am persistent enough and is willing to do what it takes to make it big, I can get there eventually.

I was so committed to it that I burn my bridges and resign from a decent paying job that helps me to pay the room rental and the monthly payment for the car. I have lost count of how many times I have lost my money because of margin call.

After spending more than a year trading, I finally realize that it is impossible to score every trade that you made.

Love

I have been with my current girlfriend for more than 7 years now and there were so many things that we have gone through together. I did try to leave her for almost 2 months, but it just feels so wrong when I am not with her. I really hope we manage to make it through and can build both of us a happy family soon.

Family

I have not been spending too much time with my family members, especially my brothers. I really miss the moment when there were a lot less things to think about.I miss my mum and dad. I really wish I can do something that can make them happy.

It feels as if it was only yesterday we all grow together. I still remember the day when my brothers and I was outside watching the stars and trying to build up a bonfire. Life is so short and there were so many things passes by without we even noticing it.

Religion

I converted as a muslim in November 2008, but it was not until the beginning of this year I started to learn how to perform the shalat. There are still so many things for me to learn. I really hope I have enough time for all of this.

Sabah

I came to Sabah in mid October. I never have thought that I would even step my foot here. But it's a great place and I like it here. But I really miss home and I'm going home somewhere in March. InsyaAllah.

2012 has been a great year and I never regret every second that I have spend so far. How has it been treating you?

I may seem cold and heartless on the outside, but the truth is, I have a problem to express my feelings. Sorry if I hurt you, I never meant to make you sad...

I just hope that I'll be able to talk it out and make you see how important you are to me.

Weird Dream

I just had a weird dream earlier on... I was at my parents' place and in that dream I was sleeping.... when I woke up (still in the dream), I saw my dad was doing shalat... It's quite weird because, my dad is actually a non-muslim and I am the only one who converted... I'll figure out what does this dream mean and share it with you guys....

Allergy to Tongkol aka Little tuna

I went to a food stall nearby earlier for lunch. The weather was hot and I was sweating when I reach there, so I decided to tapau and chosen curry Tongkol and pucuk labu masak lemak (pumpkin shoot).

 It's not the first time I had tongkol so I was not expecting to get an allergy and swell on my entire body, I started to feel itchy after taking a few bites of that tongkol.

 I had to throw it away because I know my allergy is attacking me, it's not going to worth it if I begin to suffocate and had my entire body swollen later.

I still remember the first time I got allergy was when I stayed at her house for a few days and I was helping her to clean the cats.... That was a few months ago but I can remember a lot of things quite clearly.

That day, I searched for info and found out that the pill we've been taking for sneezing and runny nose, the piriton is actually an anti-histamine... and I was saved because they have plenty of that pill because her mom always has running nose, almost on daily basis.

The 2nd time was at her house as well, not too long after that. I was having a few bites of a bread and I suddenly feel itchy on my entire body. Sometimes I just feel amazed at how my body react to some of the food that I consume without any problem before that. Maybe my antibody is as blur as I am sometimes, I am not sure.

And as for the allergy that I had earlier today, it was not serious and it's gone now. Thank God!

Sunday Movie Day

It's 2nd of December and I spent most part of the day outside. 

Here's some of the things that I did today.

Center Point:

Had some sushi at Sushi King.

Karaoke for half an-hour (RM8 only).

Watched  Life of Pi

Window shopping

 Life of Pi was a great movie. There's always 2 sides of every story, it's all up to you to believe which one.

Suria Sabah:

After that, at about 4pm, I took City Bus and went to Suria Sabah, just to see what they have here. And as it turns out, there's not much to see here... Only lesser people because it's not easily accessible compared to Center Point.

 I had hot claypot fish rice for early dinner and went to the bookstore to read a few books there to kill some time. This time, I read Cell 8 by Anders Roslund and Borge Hellstrom. I really admire the way they write their stories, they managed to describe everything in great details and make you feel as if you're the one who experienced it. Maybe it's due to the fact that they write it in first person point of view. I don't know.... but I'll figure out.

And I am currently at Suria Sabah right now typing this post and listening to the Christmas songs that they're playing. Very flamboyant.

Welcome December

Wow, time flies so fast. It feels as if it were yesterday I arrived in KK. 

So many things happened and I can still remember them quite clearly.... but let's put the sad story aside, life has to go on and here's a few plan that I have for December.

 I'm thinking of going for a fishing trip. I've seen a few nice pictures and gone through a few packages being offered. Maybe I have to gather a few more guys so that we can go there in one trip.... or else, I'll probably just join if there's any space available... I'll continue to hunt for the right package and I'll put it up here if I found it.

Konsert Era Sayang Sabah

I was at 1Borneo Gourmet Lane for the Konsert Era Sayang Sabah. I was there because I wanted to watch Stacy........ I was quite disappointed when the concert ended without her doing any performance :( Ahh... quite frustrating.

Most of the people were there to watch Ungu...

I reach there at about 7pm and managed to get myself an entry ticket from Hanief Era. Here's some of the pics that I took from Era KK's facebook fanpage.

Beebey and Ily is kinda cute too.

All in all, I think Era KK has done a good job at handling the crowd. But still, it would have been better if Stacy showed up :(

Getting To Labuan

I was in Labuan yesterday. We drive to Menumbok, which took approx 2 hours drive from KK. We decided to reach Labuan from there because it only took about 15 minutes boat ride from there & RM15 per person. It would have take about 3 hours ferry ride if we go from Jesselton Point Ferry Terminal...

I would probably just take the ferry if I have to go there by myself because there's less hassle to deal with getting to Menumbok.

I saw several nice landmark when we're on the way to Menumbok. I am planning to check out Kuala Penyu sometime soon.

 As for Labuan, I only spent several hours there and most of it was spent at KFC. I am not sure what to do there... maybe I should have do more research. The town is pretty quiet during the day, but I was told, the bars and nightclubs there open as early as 6pm. Hmm... I'll probably spend a night or two just to see how it's like during night time.

Labuan I'm Coming

Today was quite boring because I didn't do much stuff other than the usual web surfing, forum marketing and hunting for new clients.

One of the good thing about what I am doing is, I can be anywhere around the world as long as I have good Internet connection.

It rains in the noon so I couldn't go out for lunch. Not that I intend to go out but I might have visited 1Borneo and watched Red Lights if it didn't rain.

I had some bread with sardine for my meal today. It was damn spicy. I'll never buy that flavour again next time. I was lucky because I have some coke in the fridge to cool down my throat.

By the way, I am going to Labuan tomorrow. It'll be very early in the morning, about 6am. So, I'll sleep early tonight & wake up early to get myself ready. Labuan should be a fun place.
