And everything is going fine
Our attempted stop motion film, influenced by Michael Jacksons ‘Thriller’ by sonara, belinda and myself
Belinda
I really enjoyed working on this stop motion film. It was a great learning experience. I purchased the skull candles, gravestones and moving eyes. I thought these would be perfect for the 'Thriller' atmosphere and the candles would add a different lighting effect and mood appearance. We overcame several boundaries that didnt work and as a team found suitable solutions. We discovered that since we would be moving the chewies they needed to be made solidly enough to withstand being handled as the heat made them to sticky and soft to work with. I was very pleased with the end result although being our first time had a few wrinkles that with more experience and time could have been ironed out. I took part in the creation using photoshop of the end screen showing the demise of the zombie chewies with subtitles of who the stop motion film was created by. I did the lettering layer by layer and then it was saved as jpg and imported into the filmscore page in the program Daniel was doing the stop motion.
Class notes- Must remember to keep all files in one place so that Premier knows where to find them- transferring them once they’ve been used in premier means that premier won’t be able to shortcut to them.
After opening-
make sure it’s saving to the correct place
HDV 1080p25
Import your pictures from folder- it is possible to organise this in premier but might also be good to organise images before entering them into Premier.
2-3 frames/second
edit-preferences-general, 1 sec 10 frames
to change the timing of many frames at a time, select multiple frames and right click- brings up the option speed/duration. Select ripple edit, shifting trailing to ensure that frames squash together correctly.
Cross dissolve fades one image to the next, click, drag and drop effect the effect on to the frame you want it to change. Transitions are editable once dropped onto the frames, length of time that they run can be changed
If you want sound from a youtube video and not the video, import the MP4 file into premier, and then hide the video layer, keeping only the sound. Sound file can be cut and edited.
You can import a video and export frames from within it for use in stop motion video
to create title go to Title menu- new title (roll, still crawl) and where you can play with different types of text to create your title and credits.
youtubemp3 and Keepvid.com- designed for ripping videos off of youtube- copy and paste url into keepvid and download.
My Journal p17 - Story Board
Belinda re did our story board as the story line had changed from the first one Daniel did. We were going to use more of the Thriller film clip, and bring in segments from the ghost buster’s… but decided to just go with our little chewy dudes.
See our original story board under Daniel Stevens…..
Belinda:
As we had refined what we were going to do for the Thriller Film Clip. I took the original storyboard and whilst Sonara and Daniel were editing the sound for the film clip I drew up the final new story board with new scenes and ideas we had decided to use and edited unecessary ones.
DMF- Project 2 SYNOPSIS
We have decided to pay homage to Michael Jackson, by attempting to get our handmade chewed zombie chewies to dance to Thriller. It will be the story of Chewy MJ with his big busted Red Girl Chewy. They walk into a grave yard and soon find themselves being surrounded
Here is the set for Chewy Thriller the top is before and bottom after.
Should have taken more photo’s of each character
During the process of making this stop-motion animation, it would have been better to take many more photos to try and capture the moves to the thriller sound track. (I was on camera so this was my fault)
It was fun to do and myself, Belinda and Daniel learn t a lot from the process. Myself personally I found it rather challenging trying to work within a team environment. But when one leans to chill and go with the flow and try and draw on everyone’s strengths it has been a very interesting process.
I must say I was very disappointed that no one else seemed to find our stop-motion animation funny. But I guess when you work with something, you understand all the little things, that can be easily missed. I would also say it is because we were trying to do MJ’s Thriller the stakes were set way higher than what we could achieve. Was a great experience, great team and overall pleased with our attempt.
