Scenario:
You have been sent to a deserted island off of the coast of Greece. The weather is fabulous and you have been provided with all of the food, water and shelter that you could ever want or need. The lush surroundings provide everything that you need except for the fact that you are there alone. The length of your stay has not been determined, but you can be confident that it will be longer than a weekend ... think of Gilligan's Island.
There is an upside and that is that you can bring three items with you to the island. They can be any three inanimate objects that do not require power! (no jamming your children, significant other or phone into your tote bag). What would you take with you and why?

Three items that i would take with me to a deserted island off the coast of greece:
Im assuming that the shelter and water provided might mean theres running water but maybe not electricity because the items brought cannot require power so no fridge or electric stove.
1.) A flint striker tool would be great; a convenient way to light a fire. Fire keeps most bugs and animals away, provides heat/warmth, and can be used to cure meats and cook foods.
2.) I think id want a comfort item like a cot. Atleast its somewhere more comfortable than the ground to lie down and sit.
3.) Im undecided, but a dutch oven over a tea kettle, is what im leaning towards for my last item. This would be a way to boil water or foods (like veggies or pasta, rice, etc), but also a way to sterilize/clean items.
SMART
I can see physical currencies being obsolete in the future especially with the recent introduction of cryptocurrency becoming available. Helium Network Tokens (HNT) are "used to pay for data transfer over the Helium network". For example this network is used when making wireless transactions with a credit/debit card. HNT is considered cryptocurrency and according to the IRS "virtual currency is treated as property for Federal income tax purposes". One of the biggest advantages is that when HNT is burned to create Data Credits (DC) this "theoretically increases the value of remaining HNT". On the otherhand the overcrowding of miners in one area on the network doesnt allow for much return on the investment of the miner. This is like investing in your own fishing vessle with 100s of other nets in the water all competing to catch the same fish. Also if there arnt enough signals connected to eachother, data cannot transfer through the network chain. One of the biggest risks with cryptocurrency is that the "value can change constantly and dramatically". My husband has two bobcat miners and it is interesting to be apart of this community. We have experienced the over crowding as well as the scarcity of connection but this has allowed us to be apart of a network that is, in my opinion, a missed opportunity by others. I myself use google wallet most often to buy things online because its convenient. Otherwise i use my physical debit card in person because i personally dont trust the digital wallet. The ways to minimize any concerns that i have though is by using two factor authentication, email/text alerts, and by using cards/accounts with fraud prevention built in.

Informative Speach: How Walt Disney Changed Animation
https://youtu.be/SfbzG2l1v8g
1.) What were the main points of the speech? Was it easy to pick them out?
The main points were easy to pick out. Changing the drawing style, using live action reference, and inventing the multiplan camera changing the entertainment industry forever.
2.) What was the speaker’s central idea? Do you think he/she accomplished his/her purpose?
That Walt Disney changed the entertainment industry and was able to have his empire withstand time. In this case, by developing a new animation style.
3.) Was the speech enjoyable/interesting to listen to? Why or why not?
Absolutely! Disney is such an icon to alot of households!! We had rows and rows and rows of disney VHS and actually, recently, my mom asked me if i wanted the collection (i declined). This speach was enjoyable/interesting because it was relatable, not just to the melenial generation as the speaker stated but because it shows how timeless something like the introductory music of disney is(which she leans into even though the music the begin had some technical difficulties).
4.) What is one thing that you learned from watching this speech that you can apply to your own speeches this semester (something to imitate or something to avoid)?
This speaker is really good in my opinion. I couldnt 100% see the supporting content from the video recording. I could tell, houwever, that the speaker added examples that helped the audience vecause they could have otherwise misunderstood nor maybe not grasped disneys concept as this was a very technical aspect of this particular innovation. From this recording one thing i might be more aware of, when i am putting together speaches and supporting content, is the volume of the music as it can be hard to hear the speaker.
