that anon who said you're in the wrong but people shouldn't be sending you threats over it is right, but even in places with crosswalks and stoplights, it's not morally wrong to jaywalk. i am legitimately curious as to why you're so opposed to it. is it the legality? if so, i think you should reexamine why you so closely equate what is legal with what is right. is it about safety? this is more understandable, but the post that started this specifically mentions jaywalking as a group, which is much safer—drivers are of course more likely to take notice of a group and stop for them. you can feel free to ignore this ask, of course. i'd understand if you just want to drop the matter altogether. but i do hope you reflect on why such a harmless crime offends you so much

Thanks for your message! I admire your wording here. I guess it’s just that I lived in rural spaces, and when I see people who ignores using crosswalks and stoplights when they are there, my response is to get annoyed, because I never had these tools on my city, and I would still choose to walk 20 steps to a space meant to be guarantee my safety and driver’s (saying for people who are used to urban spaces) on the other hand, I won’t judge when the roads have no crosswalks, stoplights and supervision at all and have to do it anyway (still me).

I also recognize my error on that repost I did (that was exaggerated) it’s just that people who have privileges don’t recognize the things they normally have are important. And I translated my frustrations to a whole different country that is America, when crosswalking is a ‘crime’, I learned it only after I made that rant

you're the privileged one in this scenario because in many cities in america especially the smaller, poorer ones we literally do not have a choice but to jaywalk. there are no crosswalks. there are no sidewalks. there are no crossing lights to stop traffic. that being said i don't think people should be sending you threats. have a good one
