I just want to say that panphobia on tumblr is still there, but I’m so happy to see that it’s faded into the background.

Sure, most pan posts will have assholes complaining (*cough* looking at you, rittz—you are the wettest sock I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with *cough*), but the pan tags aren’t filled with discourse anymore.

The pan positivity tag is filled with goodness and kindness and support, the general pan tag is relatively safe to traverse, and more and more people are realizing, “oh, hey, maybe being a panphobe isn’t the hill I want to die on.”

Legit about to cry, because I was scrolling through the pan tag and it just hit me: there’s no discourse.

There’s no one calling me a slur, or telling me to walk into traffic, or saying I’m the reason cisallohet people hate the community.

Instead, there’s a person coming out as pan, there’s a pan flag edit, there’s a bi/pan solidarity art piece, and I’m so happy about this. People who were like me, new to being pan, new to the community in general, can now be with people like them without the ever constant fear of panphobes.

Obviously there are still panphobic people on tumblr, but I’m beginning to see a change.

And I think that’s amazing.

Happy Pride to closeted pan folk!

This is for anyone who doesn’t want to come out, for those who are casual about it, and to those who simply can’t due to whatever reasons.

This year, I’ve got something to say. To any pan person who is still in the closet because of unaccepting family, this is for you.

I live in a very religious household. Parents are homophobic, extended family are homophobic, church friends are homophobic, etc. etc., and I thought I would always be alone. I thought that I would always have to deal with the slurs and the jokes and the homophobic comments on my own.

But then I came out to my sibling, and it went well. He’s the best ally I could ever have, and it feels so nice.

I want you to know that there is hope. I promise you, there is a light at the end of this tunnel. Eventually you can be unapologetically queer and that day will feel amazing.

It’s hard now, I know. It’s hard waiting for a day that seems so far away, but you’ll get there.

Stay safe, fellow pans. You guys are the best :D

Let's take a step away from labels.

Go away, yes.

Look at them.

They're not neat little boxes where you choose one that fits for the rest of your life.

Change up your perspective a bit.

They're not drawers to fit into.

They're more like umbrellas.

There are big ones and small ones and groups finding each other beneath bigger umbrellas.

You can jump between them, change them and play around however it fits at the moment.

It doesn't bother anyone.

You can hop from umbrella to umbrella as often as you want.

It doesn't make you less valid.

They're for what you feel now.

And what you feel now is something only you can tell.

What you'll feel tomorrow or next week or in ten years - nobody knows.

And you don't have to!

Sexuality and gender and identity are fluid!

Jump around and play in the rain and choose whatever umbrella gives you the nicest vibes right now, be happy, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

You are free to explore the different people beneath the umbrellas and join them for just a while!

You are free to do whatever!

Your identity is always changing, and you are feree, you are unique and amazing and colourful like all of those umbrellas and the rainbow peeking through the clouds!!

You are not biphobic or transphobic. Your identity is not the jokes or the slurs or the hurtful comments.

Pansexuality is good. Pansexuality is helpful and useful and valid. Pansexuality is queer, it belongs with the LGBTQ+ community, and most importantly YOU belong here.

And anyone else who in any way, shape, or form identifies with the pansexual mspec identity. I appreciate you all, the community is a better place with you all in it, and I just—
