John Galliano submerged the viewer in a poetical autobiography through his FW 15 collection for Maison Margiela. As said by the master couturier in the past, each collection is inspired by a certain woman. This season she was lost within her own mind and the art which had been woven in between her thoughts. As she created beauty, she sacrificed herself, only to become her own crippled shadow. She stormed past her magnificent works of pulchritude, grasping onto her last bits of sanity, in desperate need of help. And as she continued on as l’enfant terrible, her works only got better. Her jolie-laide was gently accentuated with streaks of pastel colours on her face and hair by Pat Mcgrath and Eugene Souleiman respectively, which made her even more fascinating. Yet, the chaos beared a certain level of harmony. Galliano’s plan for re-creation of the Maison under full approval of Martin himself, is to remodel it into a pyramidal system, Haute Couture being the fastigium spreading out onto all the other lines created by the Maison. Thus, light influence of Galliano’s SS 15 Couture collection peaked through the perfectly dosed tumult of this collection.
