One of unsung treasures of Bowie is Mama Cocoa's Delights, purveyors of delectable artisan chocolate treats.  I've been a recurring customer since discovering her work this summer at the Bowie Farmer's Market.

Whitehall Elementary School in Bowie recently received a 2012 Blue Ribbon School Award from the Maryland State Department of Education, one of only six schools in the state and the only school in the Prince George’s County Public School System.

The Safe Speed Program in Bowie will be expanding with additional speed cameras on Annapolis Road and Laurel-Bowie Road Jan. 17, according to Una Cooper, communications coordinator for the city of Bowie.

The Bowie City Council announced today that it will be interviewing the 25 candidates for the City Council vacancy at a public meeting on Saturday, January 8, 2011. Originally, applicants for the At-Large Councilmember vacancy were to be interviewed at a Special Council Meeting on the evening of December 13th. However, in light of the large number of applicants for the position, Council decided to postpone the interviews until Saturday, January 8, 2011.
