noctiisdea:
She is often regarded as a finicky woman, who easily yanks herself away from affections to hide away. It’s common practice, merely to protect herself from anything that could burn. Though, instead, she never runs from these people who have found a peculiar way of entering her life, instead the need to be beside them is ever present despite the pleas from outsiders to go.
A life without these two men seems rather daunting, it’s enough to keep her awake as she wonders if she is merely just a selfish woman? Perhaps, but, she is also fearful to be reduced back to nothing in this city. It is a thought that enters her mind quite frequently, but not tonight, it is too enjoyable to continuously think of depressing thoughts. Instead, it’s comical that the two seem rather timid around each other she finds it enough so to chuckle but not in a mocking way.
A blush appears on her smooth cheeks as she shakes her head, they’re fearless but scared of the smallest of intimacy what strange people they are and maybe that is why they are drawn together. Her head rests upon his shoulder, pale eyes staring at the chain that is draped across his neck. Like many normals, she was taught to be weary of twilights, fear them or despise them but never accept them as anything more than subhuman.
That can’t be true can it? Many seemed to go along in life wanting the same thing as anyone else, the need to survive and make best of a situation that was damned from the start was heavy in them. Her eyes softened as she swayed to the music, the patter of her heartbeat evident as she thought to herself this is as close as they ever can be. Always at arm’s length, she has come to accept it because this distance is nice, comforting, and oddly she feels safe. It’s bittersweet but enough to swallow, after all, affections can’t grow here…can they?
His feet shuffle awkwardly from side to side, unable to keep time with the music he couldn’t feasibly hear. But he was able to garner enough cues from the rest of the guests and the soft sway of her own body beneath his hands. In fact, she seemed to be quite comfortable there against his chest, the finite motion of her heels suggestion some prior experience. Fighting hard to disregard the color that was bleeding through cheeks ( and the way it picked up his own heartbeat ), he lifted one hand from the small of her back to flash her a quick signal in query.
“...where did you learn to dance?”
