Love. He didnāt understand love. His life didnāt have room for that kind of weakness. Any memories he had of it, of love, belonged to a different person, another life. This person, this life, destroyed things like love. Often, mercilessly, laughing every step of the way.
Love was a weapon he used, a torture implement better than any bone saw or plier. Fenrir preferred it when his victims had loved ones because of it. Because it was so much easier to break them if he broke the ones they loved first.
To be the focus of love, the source of it? He felt like a rung bell, hollow and shaking as the words reverberated through him. Fenrir couldnāt think. His mind was empty. There was nothing in his head but a rush of dread. It was a riptide that cinched him by the waist and yanked him down so hard it filled his lungs. He didnāt know how to love, how to be loved.
Over the years heād been a lot of things to a lot of people. Brother, pack mate, ally, Alpha, but never loved one. He didnāt know what to do with it, didn'tā understand how it was even possible. If he allowed himself this weakness, it was only a matter of time before someone exploited it. With the company he kept, the life he lived, it wasnāt a question of if someone would use her against him, but when.
He barely noticed the bed shift, barely felt how slender arms wrapped around him from behind, a small body pressing into his back. In another beat the warmth of that body was gone from his back, the bed shifting again as the barely registered weight eased off of the mattress. The space between his feet was suddenly occupied by the veelaās tiny form, her round eyes staring up at him, peering into him as she touched his face and held his gaze.
Clenching his teeth, he breathed in deeply at her words. She had almost died. Love hadnāt stopped that. Love had done fuck all to protect her from those Scavengers. āIām not asking you to love me back.ā Fenrirās exhale was slow and heavy as he stared into those open, unguarded green eyes. Truth stared back at him, understanding. There wasnāt pressure to feel something he didnāt, or be something he wasnāt.
Teeth gritted, brow furrowed, lips thinned into a scowl, Fenrir considered the tiny veela kneeling in front of him, one hand on his thigh to keep her balanced, the other still on his cheek as she held his gaze prisoner. Moments passed in silence. Ten seconds, thirty, a minute, an eternity passed with them sitting just like that, not breaking the otherās gaze for a second of it.
The tension broke when Fenrir reached between them. He took her cheek in his calloused palm, thumbed over her soft skin as his hand moved from her face, fingers carding through her hair until he had her by the nap. Fenrir captured her gaze, didnāt let her look away for a second as he grumbled a low, āYou are my mate, Arielle.ā His grip on the back of her neck, her hair still caught between his fingers, pulled her up from her knees so she could stand between his legs, so he could pull her onto his lap, and she was straddling him. He still had her eyes locked with his as he promised, āI wonāt be without you.ā
He pulled her mouth back down to his, and rumbled hungrily into the kiss he stole from her.
At her words, air rushed from his lungs in a relieved motion. Like the pent up tension heād felt from her confession had eased with the knowledge that she didnāt expect anything in return. She loved him for who he was, as he was and didnāt need anything changed or said back. In fact, knowing what he was like, were the circumstances normal she wouldnāt have said anything at all but Arielle couldnāt help it. Didnāt want to help it. Fenrir was not soft and cuddly, he wasnāt talkative and expressive- but she didnāt need that. If she did, the girl was in the wrong relationship.
No, she loved Fenrir as he was and nothing would ever change that fact. The pause between heartbeats had her on edge, waiting for him to surge up from his seated position on the edge of the bed, knock her aside and stalk out of here- never to look back at her again. His eyes, those eyes that had captivated her from the moment they first met. He may be a beast, but he had the gaze of an angel.
She could look into it until the day she died, and the Veela would die happy. Instead of pushing her away, a large hand reached down to grip her cheek. Ariās eyes fluttered closed, leaning against the warmth of his grasp. He smoothed her hair back, until heād hooked her by the nape and held her firm and tight, forcing her to lock gaze with him once more. His words were a deep baritone that shot straight to her core. The heat that pooled in her gut was unrivalled.Ā
She hadnāt been expecting any kind of confirmation at all but this? A spoken vow, better than any form of I love you.Ā He pulled her to sanding by the grip at her neck, an effortless movement with the strength he carried. On a whim, he had her straddling him, thighs split as wide as they could go to accommodate his girth beneath her.Ā āFenrir...ā His name escaped her on a moan, relief flooding her veins as a strong grip clutched onto her.Ā āYouāll never be without me, again. I promise.ā
The kiss pressed onto her lips was hard and unyielding, his vow signed and sealed by the act. Moaning against his lips, Ari melted against his body, the heat building to breaking point as her arms wrapped around his neck, fingers locking in his hair, clinging to the lifeboat that was her wolf. Somewhere along the way, heād become her entire world and she couldnāt think of a better way to move through life than by his side.
She needed him, all of him. Her body ground against his lap, responding to the heat that only the mere proximity to him could elicit, to the way his grip was crushingly tight around her, to the deep growls that emanated from his chest- filling the room with his presence and powerĀ āFenrir... please.ā A soft beg escaped her, but she couldnāt tell you what it was she was begging for. All Arielle knew was that she needed him, needing him as desperately as she needed air to survive.Ā
For a moment Fenrir anchored himself to the spot, dug his heels in, his heart beating uncomfortably at the prospect of letting her move him at all, much less making him dance. He was expecting roaring in his head, his instincts shouting at him to run, retreat to the wall of the room where he could see everyone and watch all the exits. But everything was silent in his head, with nothing but the music and Arielleās soft smile to fill the space.
This was her domain. Heād seen her home in France, and even her flat in London. Where heād been raised for killing fields and charnel houses, she was raised on dancefloors and extravagant parties. Dancing was as second nature to her as killing was to him, Fenrir would never make her kill anyone, but if she wanted him to dance⦠he let her delicate hands pull him into place.
A muscle in his jaw worked as he followed her instructions, watched her as she placed his hands then wrapped her arms around his neck. Shorter than he usually was, it was easier for her to do so without him having to lean forward while she stood on the tips of her toes. Fenrir gripped her hips and stared into her eyes, he let her lead him into simple movement and all he allowed himself to focus on was her beautiful face.
He didnāt reply when she spoke, just watched her bottom lip as it was pulled between her incisors. His hands on her waist pulled her in that much closer. The beat was easy to follow, the steps simple enough that he found the rhythm and kept it, moving with her effortlessly, hoping this made her happy, that heā¦
Quietly, nearly inaudibly, Fenrir confessed, āMy parents used to dance.ā His brow furrowed and his jaw tightened, his heartbeat picking up as his mind revolted against memories that should have stayed buried, that he had no right to say out loud, to share with anyone. Memories that didnāt belong to him. Not anymore. He shook his head, meaning to dismiss the rest, but when Fenrir spoke it was with a muttered, āAt night, when the rest of my family was sleeping. Theyād dance like this.ā
Sheād been half expecting a protest, or his not so gentle guiding to a different location. But Fenrir had let her ease him onto the floor. She wasnāt sure if it was the polyjuice potion going to his head, or the guy was actuallyĀ prepared to dance with her. Either way, she didnāt care. The Veela was going to take what she could get.Ā
His hands were still large as they closed around her hips. The warmth still exuded, soaking into her core as she pressed her body flush against his own. She wished more than anything that she could be standing here, dancing with the man she knew and loved but he was still there, beneath the magical facade and those eyes... they helped more than anything. Her smile was wide as hey moved with her.
He pulled her in even closer, and she had to bite her lower lip harder to stop herself from purring then and there on the dance floor. She loved the way he caged her, even in a smaller frame he was all consuming. His stoic silence had her focusing on the hard set of his body as they moved, the muscles that still rippled beneath designer threads taken from Rodās closet.
And then he spoke... and her breath caught in her lungs. That was the first time heād ever spoken of his past, of anything that meant something to him. She almost stopped dancing entirely, but didnāt want to jolt him out of whatever had his lips moving. The fact that it was about his parents, of all things... god. She wanted to weep at the sadness that was his life.Ā
The fact that he was saying anything at all wasnāt lost on her. The confession was as good as an I love you. Better. It meant more, carried more weight. The words boasting a gravity that anchored her to his heart, that tethered her to their connection.Ā āI bet they were beautiful together.ā Her words were so soft, they were almost inaudible.Ā
Her chest ached, and it was all Arielle could do not to apologize to him. She wanted to tell him she was sorry, sorry for the innocence lost, sorry for the family so brutally taken from him... but he was a horse that could be so easily spooked if the wrong thing was said... so she remained quiet, attentive. Listening to anything he was saying, soaking in the words like she was bread and his voice was wine.
Between Us Girls | A&B
Picking through the spread of fruit and breakfast staples, Bellatrix muttered a flat, āI donāt recall asking if there were other places you could go.ā She put food onto the small dish in her hand, selecting the things that would settle easiest in her stomach, not wanting to trigger any nausea by forcing her to eat heavier foods before she was ready for them. Not looking up from her work, she continued, still austere and flinty, āNor do I recall regarding you as an imposition. If Iām not mistaken, I believe an approximation of my exact words were, āyou will not sabotage my hard work by trying to leave before youāre ready.ā So fuck off with your manners, and eat.ā
The plate was shoved into Arielleās grasp and Bellatrix stared her down with a command in her eyes that made most people drop their gazes and apologize on the spot. The witch nibbled on her lower lip instead, acting as though she had a choice in the matter, as if there were another option other than stay put and do as she was told. Bella cocked an eyebrow, her glare hardening as she silently challenged the younger witch to even try. Her wand was on the other nightstand and sheād never reach it in time to stop Bella from spelling her to the spot if she had to. The way she gripped the plate Bella had forced on her seemed to acknowledge that there was only one path here, and sheād accepted her fate to keep to it.
Bellatrix smiled at Ariellieās gratitude, huffing an amused breath at her dainty submission. She reached between them and brushed the girlās dark hair away from her brow, murmuring, āMerlin, you are precious, arenāt you,ā instead of the āitās cute that you think you have a choice in the matter, sweet girl,ā purring in her head. āI can see why Fenrir is so fond of you. There are so few sweet things in his life.ā
Trailing her knuckles along the soft line of her jaw, Bella shot Ari a wink before she dropped her hand from her face. She observed her long enough to watch the girl nibble away at a strawberry before Bella stood from the edge of the bed and reclaimed the tea cup sheād set aside. The hum that left her was intoned with doubt.
āAre you taking the tincture I made you,ā she inquired as she strode over to the window and stared out the window as she sipped at her tea. āIām working on a salve that will help ease discomfort in localized spots as well. Iām just waiting for the solution to set. It should be ready in a few hours.ā
She could see that the girl was doing better, but she didnāt trust her to be honest about whatever pain or discomfort she was feeling. Arielle was too worried about manners and being an imposition to be frank about how she was truly doing. Honestly, Bella wasnāt sure how Amycus did it. Being a Healer was such tiresome work when the patient was so stubbornly reticent.
Glancing over her shoulder back at Arielle, she smiled a cheshire catās smirk as she met her gaze. āWell, you see, Miss Delacour. Iām rather brilliant.ā She turned to face her fully, feline simper spreading as she held the younger witchās gaze and felt her own alight with an undying mischief. āFor many, the desire to learn and grow stops the day they graduate from Hogwarts. But knowledge is power, and I rather enjoy being the most powerful witch in the room. An arrogance that came in most handy, donāt you think?ā Bella chuckled and stifled her smile by sipping her tea.
āItās not likely that he had many other alternatives,ā she replied dryly, staring into her tea as she carried on to comment a facetious, āIt may come as a surprise to you, but Fenrirās demeanor does not endear many people to him, fewer who would want to help. But he and Rod are as close as brothers. There is nothing my fiancĆ© would not do for him and, by extension, nothing I wouldnāt do, either. I donāt think I can name a time Iāve known Greyback to love anything the way he seems to love you.ā
She glanced back up at her then, green eyes narrowing at the slight girl made tinier by the enormous bed sheād been tucked into. āYou are something of a miracle, Miss Delacour.ā Bella shifted her skirts and sank into the seat, setting her teacup on the curling armrest as she stared at the dark haired witch and gauged her expression.
Arielle raised both of her hands, palm up. Shifting between them as if assessing options on either hand...Ā ādonāt sabotage your hard work and leave, fuck off and eat... My my, Miss Black. Do you treat all your guests like this?ā She shot a wink at the dark haired beauty, her light laugh ringing out at the otherās candour. Her eyes followed the others delicate fingers as she picked through the delectable looking fruit on the gorgeous platter. God, it was like being back at home. She half expected her mother to walk in, any moment.Ā
She eyed Bella at her comments, they were almost patronizing. Almost. She didnāt care, though. Not when her life was owed to the Witch currently sharing her bed, not when she and her fiance meant so much to the man who captured her heart. She knew what Bella was doing, assessing Arielle to see who she was, to see if she was worthy of Fenrirās affections.Ā
She wasnāt going to bite back, had nothing to hide. Not from her, not when it came to her feelings towards the wolf.Ā āYou couldnāt be more accurate, there.ā He truly had, so few good things in his life that- if Ari could be even a semblance of just oneĀ good thing for him, her life was set.
Her breath hitched as gentle fingers ran across her jaw. It was a mild affection that Fenrir often indulged in, and had her searching for answers in the others gaze. Focusing instead on the strawberry, she relished in the sweetness of the flesh as she bit into it. God, they were amazing. Only the finest for the Lestrange family.
āI am,ā Fenrir had been helping her apply it, especially to her back and the places she couldnāt reach.Ā āItās been helping beyond measure, I honestly cannot thank you enough. I love the way it smells, too...ā That didnāt matter to most but sheād always been a sucker for a gorgeous scent. It reminded her of the healing baths her mother used to take her to in France. She wasnāt out of the woods, but it was certainly moving things along for her.
Her eyes crinkled with the ghost of a smile at Bellaās words. Yes, she was rather brilliant, wasnāt she? The quick work with the healing spells, the ability to make the salves that soothed her, the overall decor of the room. Bella was a fascinating woman, her arrogance rather fitting in comparison to her skills.Ā
āItās not likely that he had many other alternatives,ā she replied dryly, staring into her tea as she carried on to comment a facetious, āIt may come as a surprise to you, but Fenrirās demeanor does not endear many people to him, fewer who would want to help. But he and Rod are as close as brothers. There is nothing my fiancĆ© would not do for him and, by extension, nothing I wouldnāt do, either. I donāt think I can name a time Iāve known Greyback to love anything the way he seems to love you.ā
The Veela clutched her heart, her facial expression feigning mock surprise.Ā āNo! You donāt say?ā She shot the witch a cheeky wink, dropping her hand and resuming her nibbling on a fresh strawberry. She knew exactly how stubborn Fenrir could be, it was just something that had never phased her. Not even when the great oaf tossed her into a mound of snow to get her out of his way. She had alwaysĀ found him endearing.Ā
Her heart bloomed at the words- I donāt think I can name a time Iāve known Greyback to love anything the way he seems to love you. Sheād never told Fenrir how she felt before a few days ago, he wasnāt really one for emotion but God if she didnāt love him. A fact that had only become more present since staring down the barrel of her own mortality.Ā
She couldnāt hide the secret smile that crossed her lips at the reminder.Ā āI wouldnāt say a mircale, Miss Black. I just...ā she shrugged, plucking at the leaves atop the strawberry absent mindedly.Ā āI love him.ā Openly, freely, without needing anything in return from him. It was terrifying, to have your heart and soul in the balance of anotherās whim but sheād stepped into the free fall so many months ago and decided to never look back.

āI definitely think itās about the patience⦠I donāt care how tough you are, thereās nothing to prove by drinking shit.ā She laughed at the thought, the smile wide on her face as the pair assessed the drinking habits of stubborn headed, hardassed men.Ā
She shook her head at the new line of questioning, delighted to actually be able to talk to someone about it.Ā āNot really, you just had to not hate your own company and have oodles of patience.ā She joked with a wink. It wasnāt entirely untrue.
She was on her own in the Hall of Prophecies, with nothing but a dark atmosphere and glowing orbs for company.Ā āI donāt create the prophecies, I just maintain them.ā You had to be trustworthy enough to be in their presence, much like a muggle cop would need to be if they were in charge of the evidence locker for their stationā¦Ā
āIām the only person aside from the one whoās name is inscribed on the label of a prophecy that can pick it up and play it out loud, which is pretty cool.ā It was part of her contract, a magical bypass to the system, so to speak.Ā
āIt was just the only available job when I applied at the Ministry, but honestly Iām glad I got it. I ended up falling completely in love with my work- itās not for everyone but itās definitely for meā¦ā She took a sip of the coffee, nodding at Amelia.Ā āAnd you? What brought you here?ā
āSome people like it!ā Amelia protested laughingly. For them, though, it was more about getting the straight shot of caffeine than the experience of drinking something that tasted good.
āMy coffee certainly gets blacker throughout the day. Though thatās more as a reminder that I should drink less of it as the day goes on,ā she admitted, inclining her head towards the other woman. āAnd I still make my own.ā No matter how she drank her coffee, she wouldnāt be drinking the coffee from the bullpen unless absolutely necessary.
Amelia smirked. āI understood that much. I just wasnāt sure if there was more to it than essentially being the prophecy librarian.ā It was not a dismissive statement. Amelia was not minimizing what the blonde did. It was just an easy way of categorizing the other witchās job in easy terms. Besides, she loved Libraries. Having access to the Ministryās was a dream come true for her.
āItās funny how we fall into these things,ā she mused, taking a sip of her own coffee. It was as much a comment on her own situation as Arielleās.Ā āI started in another position here, obviously,ā she said, gesturing vaguely around the room.Ā āFrankly, this position was something of a shock.ā To say the least.Ā āBut when the opportunity came up, I couldnāt not take it.āĀ
It had been a great honour, one that she couldnāt turn down, and frankly didnāt want to. Aside from the personal benefits, Amelia had been gratified as a woman to be given the opportunity at all.Ā
āWhat brought you to England? Youāre from France originally, right?āĀ

āArielle,ā he growled, moving his hand from her face to her neck, where he applied enough pressure to force her to look at him, to see the command in his hard gaze. āStop. Apologizing.ā
He didnāt want to hear that she was sorry. She didnāt have anything to be fucking sorry about. Those Scavengers, they had something to be sorry about, and theyād pay for hurting her. But her? Sheād been a victim, and he deserved whatever fear heād felt after sheād gotten hurt.
He hadnāt protected her, and he deserved to feel what that felt like, needed to know that pain was. If he knew it, lived it, he wouldnāt let it happen again. Fenrir would do anything to make sure she was never hurt again. He knew because the anguish of almost losing her would always be right there, front and center in his thoughts for the rest of his life. No other thought could come forward without first filtering through that truth.
At her promise he dipped his head for her neck, his hand sliding from her throat to grab her jaw and hold her face to the side as he breathed her in. Fenrirās hand on her back pushed her chest into his and he could feel the way her heartbeat, how it thumped against his own chest as her breaths came in harder, shorter bursts. Rumbling into her neck as his fangs scratched over her skin, Fenrir pressed his hips into her apex, instinct and desire both warming his blood, roaring in his ears, hardening his length.
Fenrir growled as she squirmed, her small body undulating as he bit and licked and kissed her neck, writing for more as little mewling sounds came out of her. Nails dug into him, hands grabbing for purchase as he grounded himself into the softest part of her and contemplated all the noises he wanted to hear her make, all the way he could make her make them.
But then she spoke and he froze. Not at her submission, which earned a replying bite on the incline from her shoulder to her neck as he thrust his jean clad member against her. The panted words that followed made him go rigid, flash froze his blood, not an ember of arousal left in him as he lifted his face from her neck, used his grip on her jaw to make her face him, and frowned down at her. Fenrir scanned her face, peered into her eyes, and found sincerity, truth.
He pushed away from her, off of her, turning to sit on the edge of the bed with his back to her. Glowering at the plush carpet beneath his bare feet, Fenrir scraped his fingers through his hair, nails raking against his scalp as he fought to form a single thought. His head and chest had been hollowed out. There wasnāt a thought or emotion in either one, just an empty vacuum. Shock. There were no words in his head. Nothing for him to say.
All he could do was sit on the edge of the bed and try to make sense of a world that didnāt make any fucking sense anymore.
As quickly as heād been on top of her, undulating against her apex with a need that matched her own... he was gone. She had dangled so far out on a limb, it snapped from the weight of the words sheād just spoken, from the moment that had just been shared between them. His eyes searched her own for any kind of lie, falter or hesitation and found none.Ā
Arielle sat up for a moment, scanning his hunched back as tattooed fingers ran through drying locks of hair. Her heart ached at the pain he was going through, the whirlwind of emotions he was feeling. She understood his withdrawal, understood why heād taken so long to show how deeply under his skin the Veela had managed to get in the first place.
Crawling over the sheets, she moved behind him, small hands gripping his shoulders and smoothing the wide expanse of his back. It wasnāt enough, to be pressed up behind him like that. She needed to see his face, like a horse spooked on the field- she needed to whisper quietly into the void between them, to ease his mind- and his heart.
Sliding off the bed entirely, the small witch found herself nestled into the space between his enormous thighs, perched on her knees, gazing up at him. Delicate fingers lifted his chin, forcing the great wolf to look at her.Ā āI almost died, Fenrir.ā She was stating the obvious, he already knew that- but she wasnāt saying the words to rub it in. No, she was remindingĀ him, for emphasis.Ā āI almost died and you had no idea how I felt. Not really.ā She kept her tone soft, low, almost cautious- but if he listened, if he reached out and focused... heād hear the steady rhythm of her heart, the even hitch of her breath. Heād sense the truth in her scent.Ā āIām not asking you to love me back.ā
Her free hand rested atop a thick thigh as she balanced herself against him.Ā āBut I couldnāt live another second without you knowing, without you hearing those words- just once.ā Emotion scared him, more than anything on this planet. The great beast who moved fearlessly through life, instilling terror on innocents and victims alike- had one Achilles heel. His heart.Ā āYou didnāt just save me from the Scavengers... you save me every single day.ā
But sheād been given a second chance, and she wasnāt going to waste it hiding behind a facade any longer. If he chose to push her away, to get up and leave- to never turn back again. It would break her, but at least sheād spoken her truth. She wasnāt going to take it back, not now- not ever. She loved him with every fibre in her being, so fiercely that she couldnāt ever imagine loving anyone else. Even if he chose to end it now, he was her past, present and future.
āI owe my life to you for more reasons than you could ever imagine, Fenrir Greyback.ā

Gritting his teeth, his expression was hard as he stared down at her. Fenrir watched as she melted against him. He bit down on his molars when his inhale was painted with the sweet scent of her arousal. All but glaring as he took in the sight of her, he watched as she curled up against him, swimming in one of his flannels, small and delicate, and content; looking for all the world like the kitten heād claimed her to be. He half expected her to start purring.
Bellatrix had offered to lend Ari some clothes, but heād refused, hadnāt let her dress her in anything but his shirts. They were familiar. Sheād worn them before. Knew the scent and feel of them, and heād thought she might need that familiarity when she woke up, not knowing where she was or if she was safe. It was nonsensical wolf instinct, but he hadnāt been able to help it and, staring down at her bare leg as it bent over his body he was glad he hadnāt bothered.
His palm itched to feel if her thigh was as soft as it looked, but he reached up to her hand on his chest instead. A grumbling noise resonated behind his ribs at her quiet admission to preferring this position. Hand dwarfing hers as it wrapped around her dainty fingers, he lifted her hand from his chest and held it up, casually lined her hand against his, and absently considered the differences between them. He didnāt say anything as his heartbeat stumbled, the rhythm knocked off kilter by whatever the emotion was squeezing around his chest.
If heād lost her, if heād never had the chance to hold her like this⦠Fenrir clenched his jaw, stifling the growl building in his throat. Just as he was about to drop their hands and resign himself to being her pillow, Arielle apologized. To him.
This time when a growl shook up from the pit of his lungs he didnāt bother holding it back. In a swift movement he had her on her back, was looming over her, hips between her thighs, his weight braced on a forearm beside her head as he grabbed her by the jaw and bared his teeth at her. A deep breath in through his nose calmed the spike of outrage that had repositioned them in a blink.
He softened his hold of her jaw, an apologetic noise sounded from the base of his throat as he searched her face for pain and discomfort. She was still healing. Gentleness had never come naturally to him, wasnāt something he knew if he was even capable of, but heād keep reminding himself to try.
āDonāt,ā he said, staring into her eyes as he bit out the word. I put you in danger, Arielle. What you endured, the pain youāre inā¦ā His hand left her jaw and trailed down her side, fingers burrowing under her to touch her now scarred back. Fenrir grit his teeth. His lip quivered with the snarl he was holding back. Lowering his face to her neck, he nuzzled her jaw aside and buried his nose in her neck.
His blood warmed as her cinnamon vanilla scent filled his lungs, making his mouth water as primal instincts roused awake. Lips parted on the warm column of her neck and he scraped his teeth on its soft surface. Another growl shook his chest, low, nearly inaudible.
As he pressed his hips into the warm apex of her thighs, he swore onto her neck, āNothing like that will ever happen again.ā The hand splayed over her back pressed her chest flush against him. He nipped at her neck, dragged his canines over her throat, before muttering into her skin, āNo one will ever hurt you again. You are mine. No one is going to take you away from me. Iāll kill anyone who tries.ā Slowly, brutally, until theyāre begging for death. The Scavengers who did this to her were going to pay. He owed his mate nothing less.
Draped across his body, she realized, it was all worth it. The road they were on was long and torturous, full of twists and turns that pulled at her heart and had her waking up at night in a cold panic only he seemed to be able to soothe... and she wondered, what her life would have been like had it ended up any differently. It was a broken road that led her to Fenrir but it was one sheād follow to the ends of the earth, knowing what was lying in wait for her.
As she felt his heart beat against her own chest, she felt life instil itself within her again. Like her body renewed with vigour of a fresh purpose. Sure, there was damage and she was still healing- but right here in the silence of the strangers bedroom, she realized one irrefutable fact. Arielle was in love with him. Head over heels, undeniably so.Ā
And then... from one blink to the next, she went from settled atop his overly large frame to being flipped upon her back, with the full weight of her wolf now on her. She would have laughed in delight at the show of affection but the look in his eyes was nothing but pain. A manicured hand reached up to touch the sharp cut of his jaw once again.
āIām sorry, I never meant to scare you like that... but Iām not going anywhere, Fenrir. You couldnāt get rid of me then and you definitely canāt now. I promise.ā It was one she intended on keeping. Ari had lost too much in her life, and so had he. They deserved this love, this connection and sheād fight tooth and nail to keep it.
His head dropped to her neck, soft lips pressing against porcelain skin as he growled his vows against her. Like he was speaking straight to her soul. On a powerful surge, his hips found friction with her core and she had to bite her lower lip hard to stifle the moan threatening to escape her.Ā
The sharp edge of his fangs cut lightly against her throat and as the large splay of his hand pressed against her, Ariās back arched. Pressing her chest hard up against him she couldnāt control her bodies reaction to his attention, to all the months sheād waited for him to hold her, to touch her just like this. Squirming beneath him, her own hips sought out friction against him as her arms wrapped around his neck, clinging onto him for dear life...Ā
āI am yours, Fenrir.... I love you.ā The words slipped past her lips before she could stop them but frankly, she didnāt want to. He didnāt have to say it back, hell it was probably too much to say in the first place but she couldnāt help it. All theyād endured together, all heād sacrificed... for her? And to think of a world in which, she wasnāt in it. In which, she hadnāt told him the very thing sheād been keeping so close to the chest for so long? No. Arielle refused to live a second longer in this world without him hearing it, at least once. She loved him.
bloodmoongreybackā:
There was a dispassionate rumble to Fenrirās exhale as he watched Arielle smooth his suit while asking about the skin he was wearing. āItās⦠small,ā he muttered, unaccustomed to occupying so little space, to being as weak and slow as he was. Clenching his jaw, he dug his fingers into her waist and tugged her in closer, so her chest was flush against his. āDonāt wander far from me tonight.āĀ
Not because she was in any danger here, he knew she wasnāt. But Fenrir couldnāt relax in this body, and it helped to see for himself that his mate was fine. It helped to know that he could be at her side in an instant if she called for him.Ā
Fenrir blinked at the question, brows furrowing, jaw tightening. āIā¦ā He ground his teeth and searched her eyes. He didnāt dance. Didnāt know how. Growing up in a warband, fighting and killing his way to Alpha, hadnāt left a lot of time for dance lessons. Not tearing his discerning gaze from hers, he rumbled, āDo you want to dance?ā
Something stuttered in his heartbeat, warmed uncomfortably in his blood. Not the way she typically warmed his blood, but a prickling warmth that climbed up his neck and made his skin itch. If Arielle wanted to dance⦠heād endured worse things, had experienced greater shames. If it would make her happyā¦
She lifted to the tips of her toes, still needing to stretch to get anywhere close to his face, even in the small suit.Ā āI wouldnāt dream of it.ā She whispered, pressing herself against him along with his own grip. A reminder that she belonged utterly to him- and no one else.Ā āOh baby, itās okay. Fighting might be your domain- but this is mine.ā
There was a twinkle in her eyes as her smile brightened, her arms lifting to wrap around his neck.Ā āJust move with me, think of it like tracking prey... you follow their footsteps until you corner them.ā And he could corner her as much as he liked... though she was desperate for the night to be over, so she could burn that damn flask and watch as the man she loved came back to the surface.
Her feet hardly moved as her body began to sway to the dulcet tones of the music playing. The song was slow, gentle, the perfect pace to ease him into the routine. She started so subtly, one would almost not realize they were swaying at all. When the first step came, it was monotonous, a mechanical move made on auto pilot.Ā
āSee? You can do this.ā Sucking her lower lip between her teeth, she couldnāt help but admire how he did everything with such grace. From dancing to killing, he moved with purpose. Whether it was his own suit or not, she almost wondered if he knew just how beautiful he was. And standing here in the moment, looking into his eyes- the eyes that remained unchanged regardless of a potion... it was perfect.
Everything about this was strange. Never in his entire life had he been somewhere so extravagant, worn something so expensive, or been surrounded by so many people. He was standing among them, out in the open, in plain sight, and no one had pointed and screamed. The flask in his breast pocket had enough polyjuice in it to make sure that his good luck lasted the night.
Staring down at unmarked hands, no scars or calluses or tattoos, he curled his fingers into a fist and sighed. Fenrir shook his head. His jaw clenched as he glared past his brow at the ongoing party. Heād never been more out of his element than he was now.
Everything about this body was wrong. Its senses were dull, its reflexes slow, and he was at least forty pounds lighter than he should have been. All that muscle mass, gone. He felt weak, exposed, on edge.
Fenrir took a subconscious step nearer to his mate. His hand on the small of her back pulled her closer and he leaned down to nuzzle her temple, but that cinnamon vanilla scent was off. Gritting his teeth, his exhale was resigned as he stood upright again.
He hated how weak his senses were, how weak he was in this body. Logic argued that nothing would threaten her here, but he hadnāt survived this long by being careless and letting his guard down. There was no doubt in his mind that heād still tear anyone apart that so much as looked at her wrong. Itād just be more of a challenge without his fangs, claws, or arsenal of weapons.
Smartly dressed wait staff wended through the crowd and he considered trying to see if he could get drunk in this form. As soon as the thought formed he cut it off at the knees. He was weak enough as it was. He wasnāt going to hinder himself some more by testing his tolerance. Not if he was also endangering his mate in the process.
He pulled her in closer and glared at the crowd.
His arms were wrapped around her, holding her close against a still hard chest. Only, they were off. The height distribution, the wing span of the hand flat on her tummy, the way his body crowded her but not in its entirety. The scent was different, too clean, too aristocratic. The meat suit he was wearing one too much like the kind of pure blood male her parents tried to set her up with...Ā
He was Fenrir, but not herĀ Fenrir and the thought alone had her aching for the hours after the wedding, when he could return to his true form and hold her once more. The thing was, though... it was probably good that she be seen with this version of her lover. Just another way to throw off the scent of anyone tracking them.
It didnāt mean she had to like it.Ā
He was flush against her, those still large though not large enough hands holding her with all the need that sat unspoken between them. Her own closed over the top, holding him tight as if she could latch on and never let go. Despite the fact that he wasnāt wearing his own face, to be able to do something in public- to enjoy a moment like this... it was nice.
She could live without it, knew the life sheād chosen the minute sheād laid eyes upon him. The second sheād fallen unexpectedly, uncontrollably, irrevocably in love with the wolf. It didnāt mean she wouldnāt relish the date whilst they had it, though. Memories lasted a life time and this was one sheād cherish until the day she died.
Twisting in his grip, Arielle wrapped her arms around his neck. He was still so tall, and those eyes... the poly juice potion couldnāt change those. They were her favourite thing about him, could stare into them for an eternity and never tire.Ā
āHowās the suit going for you?ā She wasnāt talking about the threads, but knew heād understand her regardless. The mischievous twinkle in her eye only brightened as she pressed closer against her lover. āThink you can dance in it, handsome?ā

The hand on his cheek was so soft, so warm and gentle. Fenrir felt something in his chest roar at the feel of it, an indignant sound, distressed. There was a war waging in his chest, and he grit his teeth as it ravaged his insides. This never should have happened, she should have never been hurt. That she had been, that she was lying in this bed, it was on him.
Fenrir shut his eyes, nostrils flaring as he filled his lungs with her scent, hoping itād help settle the emotions ripping at his ribcage. But the more he focused on her hand on his cheek, her scent in his nose, the way those round hazel eyes stared up at him, the more aware he was of how close heād been to losing her. Her small hands were barely calloused, had only roughened once heād started training her. If she was worried about him then she was worried about the wrong things.
Sheād almost died. She was his mate, and sheād almost died because he failed to protect her. What was the point of being the most feared predator in this war if he couldnāt keep the people he loved safe? Arielle Delacour was his and she was in this bed because heād let someone hurt her.
Mind already working through all the ways heād make her attacker suffer, Fenrir gripped his mate by her dainty wrist, turned his face in her palm to kiss its center, then pushed her hand back down to her side so he could get Bella. Heād make this right. First by ensuring that she was fine, then by settling the score. He wouldnāt let this go unanswered, but retribution would have to come later. For her, he could wait.
He cracked the bedroom door open a bit and called down the hall for Rodās mate. True to her word, sheād been near enough to all but materialize in front of him, basically shoving the door wider so she could come inside and do her work. They shared the briefest glance before Bellatrix strode purposefully to Ariās bedside and started her examination.
āWell, look at you,ā stated the witch as she came up on Ari, āsitting up all on your own like a big girl.ā There was an edge of humor to her sweet tone, nothing nurturing within her cadence, though she was being as considerate as a woman like Bellatrix could be.
It was a concentrated effort to stand to the side and watch as Bella helped Arielle lean forward so she could take a look at her back. He ground his teeth and tightened the fold of his arms over his chest, fighting against instincts that rumbled at him to rip Bella off of his mate. Fenrir was attuned to Ariās ever wince and hiss, every time she clamped her eyes shut or took a too deep breath. Fenrir was paying closer attention to her every move than he was to Bellaās questions, watching for a moment where heād have to step between them and force the witch away from his mate.
It didnāt happen, and Fenrir forced himself to relax when Bellatrix helped Ari settle back against her pillows before stepping away from his veela. āThe damage has been reversed,ā she said as she smoothed the front of her skirts before holding her hands in front of her. āI suspect that you will be sore for the next few days, and Iāll prepare a tincture to reduce whatever discomfort you might feel. You shouldnāt have any lasting effects, but there will be a scar on the impact site. Amazing as I am at just about everything I set my mind to, some hexes leave their mark and thereās nothing that can be done to remove it.
āWe all have our battle scars,ā murmured Bella, reaching up to touch the small gash that cut through an eyebrow. When she realized what she was doing she dropped her hand again, smiling mischievously at Ari as she mused, āAnd now so do you. Congratulations.ā
Bellatrix only left after barking off commands like a drill sergeant, telling him how to take care of his mate as if she wasnāt his and he didnāt already know. He growled at her back as she left with a promise to check in on Ari again later. Once the door shut and Rodās mate was gone, he returned to sit beside his own. Glowering at the wall in front of him, through the thin curtains that filtered the daylight as it spilled into the room, he balled his hands into fists on his lap.
Itād been decades since heād been powerless, since heād had to rely on anyone but himself. After days here, it was still something he was struggling with. It felt impossible to let himself trust. Soft fingers brushed against his knuckles and his hand relaxed on instinct as she touched him. He moved his scowl from the window to meet her doe eyes. Fenrir made himself relax his jaw at her question, forced his shoulders too loosen, and the furrow from his brow. With a deep inhale and slow exhale, he let go of the tension in his body, if for no other reason than because she wouldnāt let herself relax if he didnāt first.
He hesitated at the tug of his hand and the request that came with it, just long enough to look her over. On a sigh, he took his hand back from hers so that he could shuck off his boots and toss them over to the winged armchair his overcoat was draped on the back of. Fenrir rounded the bed, threw back the covers and climbed in. Settled in comfortably, with his back against the headboard, he reached over to Ari and pulled her in so close she was basically laying on top of him. Fenrir held her flush against him and kissed the top of her head before relaxing the back of his head on the headboard as the hand not rubbing gentle circles over her now scarred back reached up to caress the arch of her cheek bone.
āBetter?ā he grumbled, glancing down to check if she was comfortable.
Ari knew she was probably pushing it. Fenrir didnāt really do affection all that well- but she was needy and didnāt care who knew it. The sadness etched into his perfect fact was too much to bare, it made her heart ache in a way that shouldnāt when the man you loved was sitting, completely healthy right in front of you. The truth was, she needed to comfort him- just as much as she needed the comfort he provided her.Ā
For a heartbeat, she feared heād turn her down. Come to his senses and get up and leave. After all, sheād proved more so yesterday than ever before that she was a liability to him. For almost eight months, sheād waited on edge for the other shoe to drop. For the wolf to leave and never return... but he never did. Every morning, she woke to find him waiting for her. Whether it was on the road, following the path of her lost brotherās trail or at home in her apartment, his checking in before going about their day.
Sheād grown accustomed to his being in her life, had needed it more than sheād realized. Which was why the last two weeks without him had been so god damned torturous. Why the fear of his leaving right now hit her in her very soul. It was also, completely fucking irrational. She knew it, too. They were well and truly down the rabbit hole and there was no turning back for either of them, not now. Not ever. It was stupid insecurity that crept into the darkest crevices of her mind, because the last time they parted was they closest theyād ever gotten and to have that moment stripped from them, that lack of closure or understanding... it was killing her.
Fenrir took a moment to remove is shitkickers, before moving that rippling mass of muscle to the other side of the bed. Her eyes tracked his every moment, unable to look away. God, he was glorious. A living statue of Adonis. A tattooed hand tugged the covers away, and she had to bite her lip to hide the smug grin desperately trying to form as he joined her beneathĀ the blankets.
She was wearing one of his shirts, it was covered in his scent and wasnāt exactly the first time heād had to provide her with clothing after a messy situation. There was nothing else here, save for clothes owned by whoever lived in this beautiful mansion but frankly, sheād take his shirt over anything else, any day.Ā
A moment later, her wolf was settled in the bed and she had been tucked up against him. Pulled over with the kind of ease that was Fenrirās way of doing anything. Like she was a paperweight and he was merely placing her where he wanted her. Which was essentially on top of him. The Veela had to actively remind her brain that sheād just woken up from who knows how long sheād been out, and her body was still healing.
It wasnāt listening, though. Her mind had gone straight back to the training mats, to the arousal that had consumed her thoughts just as he had consumed her entire being. She had to bite her lip harder to refocus, using the pain as a sieve to empty those thoughts out as her gaze settled on the hard set of his jaw, on the delicate touch of a large hand across her back.Ā
Her eyes fluttered shut at the soft kiss he pressed to her forehead. Her hand slid up along washboard abs to rest on the hard expanse of his chest- right over his heart. She needed to feel it beat, to know for sure that he was safe, unharmed. At least in the physical sense.Ā āMuch better.ā She whispered, resting her head against him as her body relaxed, the walls that had been up since her eyes had opened melting away.Ā
āIām sorry I put you through that, Fenrir.ā It wasnāt anyoneās fault, not really. But she never wanted to hurt him, not even unintentionally. The warmth that emanated from him seeped into her, like a healing aurora that seemed to rejuvenate the witch from the inside.Ā Just knowing he was there, he was back and nothing could take him away from her was enough to feel stronger, to feel like everything was going to be just fine.Ā
She pressed a kiss to his chest, right over his heart. The henley he was wearing, was soft against her lips. A thigh slid up to rest over his lower abdomen, searching for a deeper connection, like she could curl up around him completely and never let go.Ā āPlease, donāt ever let me go...āĀ
Task | Letters From The Other Side
Dearest Alcott,
Itās been two years, one month and 29 days since you were taken.
I canāt say Iāve acclimated to life without you, but Iām coping. One day at a time, Iām treading water. Iām still searching, I never stopped- never gave up hope that one day Iāll find you. And I will, even if itās the last thing I ever do. Until my dying breath I will search for you. I know youāre still here, somewhere on this earth just holding on until I can get to you. I feel it in my bones, I know it in my soul and I just pray you wait for me. I just need a little bit more time, Alcott...Ā
I met someone. Youād hate him.
Heās everything we stand against, but if you saw him the way I did... thereās more than what the papers say about him. Heās been helping me search for you, for the last eight- almost nine months now. Heās saved my life more times than I can count, and in more ways than youād ever imagine. I donāt know how it happened, I never meant to fall in love with him but somewhere along the way, I did. When I find you, when I can finally bring you home- itāll be because of him. I just hope you can understand that when you learn what- who he really is.
This world is crushing me, Alcott.
Iām dying without you. Without mother and father. Being alone, itās mind numbing. I canāt imagine what youāre going through, and I know youāll probably never see this letter- I just pray that our efforts are enough, that itās not too late. I see it every day, the way their unseeing eyes stared into the distance as they lay there. I canāt even tell you they looked at peace, they didnāt. The horror was etched into their once beautiful features, the pain of their final moments inscribed upon them.
There was so much blood, Alcott. I couldnāt even clean it myself, I had to get Rosie the house elf to do it. Iām so ashamed. So ashamed that I havenāt even been able to go back home. Fenrir and I, we went once just so he could start the impossible task I laid out at his feet but aside from that... all I did was run away. I tell myself that I went to London to infiltrate the Ministry and learn what I can about you but itās more than that, I just couldnāt bare being in France any more, it hurt too much... it still hurts. My heart is shattered and the shrapnel that remains just cuts into me, a constant reminder that youāre not here. That youāre somewhere in this world, alone and in pain and waiting for me.
Hold on, Alcott. Iām almost there... please, wait for me.
Your beloved sister, Arielle.

The estate was quiet. Rod had to keep up appearances at the Ministry, so heād gone back to work the morning after heād brought Arielle here. His mate, Bellatrix, only came into the room to check on Ari and help the house elf change the bed sheets. She didnāt bother with small talk. Her having forced him to bathe and eat was the most sheād said to him at once. Fenrir didnāt know what she did when she left him to his vigil. It was a large mansion, and every time he caught sight of her itād been with a book in hand. Maybe she spent her days reading. He couldnāt be fucked to care enough to ask. Not while his own mate lay unconscious.
Without the din of a busy house, Fenrir could hear Arielleās heartbeat. The steady rhythm was what had kept him sane these last few days. Not just the fact that it beat at all, but that it was strong, steady, a healthy tempo. Bella had told him that sheād be okay, that sheād done everything she could to fix his veela, and that her best was more than enough; Ari should make a full recovery, her body just needed time to heal the rest of the way on its own. Sheād wake up when she was ready, and heād watch over her, protect her, every second until then.
So when something changed in Arielleās heartbeat, he was acutely aware of it, attuned to every thump. Her breath hitched hard and her heart started to race. He looked up from the delicate hand in his palm to her face, and watched for the slightest shift in her expression. Her fingers twitched in his hand before her brows narrowed. She was waking up. Fenrir had moved before his mind had issued the command.
He was immediately at her bedside, shielding her with his body as her raspy voice scraped out of her. It was so quiet it was almost lost to the mansionās subtle creaks and groans. Fenrir knew he should get her water, and he would in a moment, but first he needed to be near her, to look into her eyes and see for himself that this was real. She was awake. She would be okay.
He brushed her hair out of her face and brushed his knuckles along the sharp incline of her cheekbone. Voice a low rumble, he said, āKitten, youāre awake,ā as if he were afraid to break whatever spell had brought her back to him.
It took a few blinks for her eyes to fully open and focus on him, tired green meeting uneasy hazel. When she tried to smile his frown deepened. He squeezed her hand back, trying to be gentle, but that was never something that had come naturally to him. His nostrils flared at her weak attempt at humor.
Instead of answering her question, he asked his own. āAre you thirsty?ā Fenrir didnāt wait for her answer. He strode over to the side table and poured water out of the pitcher that Bella kept fresh in the room. Once the glass was partway full he walked it over to Arielle and held it up in offering. āI can help you.ā
She just stared at him for a moment, like she was taking in the sight of him. Reaching out between them, she took a lock of his hair between her fingers. Fenrir grumbled at her observation, remembering the tiny witch whoād chased him out of this room earlier, away from her. Not looking away from his mateās beautiful, if still pale, face for a second, he growled the confession, āDidnāt have much of a choice.ā
Green eyes glanced over his shoulder, passively at first. Then her brows furrowed and her heartbeat kicked up again. The scent of her discomfort had Fenrir setting the cup of water down on the side table and hunching over his mate, weight propped on his fists on either side of her as he caged her in, blocked her from any threat, real or imagined.
āYouāre safe,ā he growled, yanking the leash on instincts that might frighten her if she knew the razorās edge her wariness had him balancing. If anyone came into the room right now while he was like this, while SHE was like this⦠he cupped her cheek in his hand and thumbed her soft skin as he pressed his nose to her hairline and breathed in her scent. When he repeated, āYouāre safe, Kitten,ā it was as much to stifle his territorial impulses as it was to reassure her.
Kissing her hairline, Fenrir forced himself to pull away again, to give her some space. All he managed was to return to his position blocking her in. He couldnāt pull himself away any further, couldnāt open her up to dangers he knew, in the logical part of his mind, couldnāt reach her here. Muscle feathering in his jaw, and after a heavy exhale, he mastered himself enough to answer her questions.
āWeāre at the Lestrange Estate,ā he muttered, grinding his teeth, fingers curling into fists again as he forced himself to answer her other question, to confess to her how badly heād failed her, that in doing so sheād almost died. āThere were Scavengers in the forest when youād come to meet me. I didnāt know they were there, Arielle, or I wouldnāt have⦠One of them cursed you. The damage⦠it was more than I could fix. You were dying, and I⦠I took you to the only place I knew weād be safe, where I knew someone could save you.ā
Fenrir shook his head at himself and forced his gaze away from hers, unable to look at his mate and see the disgust in her eyes. He was grinding his teeth so hard an ache was starting to form in his jaw. He was about to push off of the bed when her gentle, still raspy voice held him in place. He looked at her again, incredulous.
āBien sĆ»r, tu t'inquiĆ©terais pour moi,ā he grumbled in reply, shaking his head as he stared at her.Of course youāre worried about me. His Kitten. His mate. Always concerned about everyone else before herself. He brushed his knuckle along her cheekbone again and sighed through his nose. āI should tell Bella youāre awake.ā
A smile crossed her lips at his growl. She wasnāt entirely sure of the context surrounding his lack of choice but the petty annoyance in his tone was almost endearing. She wanted to reach up and kiss that furrowed brow until it was smooth once more.
He was crowding her, but in the best way possible. If you asked the Veela, he wasnāt close enough. She could still feel his kiss on her lips before he departed, could still feel the heat coiling within her as their worlds collided. Sheād thought of nothing but that moment since. The days passed in a blur- if her life were a movie, the pages of the calendar would have been flying off the wall in a hazy montage.
Now, even more had been stripped from her as she slept and the thought broke her heart even more. She yearned for him, for this proximity... so no, it wasnāt enough. None of it was enough. He dipped down, pressing his lips to her hair and she had to bite her lip to stop from purring at the touch. They were warm, soft. A reminder that despite it all, he was here and as he said, she truly was safe. Because in his arms, nothing else mattered. Nothing could hurt her, not really.
Her own brow furrowed as words fell from those lips, explaining what had happened. It was strange, she hadnāt heard a thing- and by the shock on Fenrirās face before the world turned black, either had he. They had come out of nowhere, and they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.Ā
A small hand lifted to brush his cheek, cupping his face in the hopes that she could soothe the pain. Smooth the anguish from his features. She wanted to remind him of his own words, that it was okay, that they were safe now.Ā āJe vais toujours m'inquiĆ©ter pour toi.ā I will always worry about you.
She wanted to tell him to stop, to wait, to leave Bella out of it for just a moment or two longer but her proud wolf was already up on two feet and stalking to the door. He didnāt leave the room, not entirely. Evidently, it wasnāt necessary as a second later, the door opened wider and a petite beauty slipped inside. She glanced at Fenrir so briefly, that if one had blinked theyād have missed it before rushing over to Ariās bedside.
She was feeling stronger by the second, and tried to wriggle up in the bed. Wanting to sit up for her. A soft wince hidden as a sharp pain shot through her chest, one that thankfully, Bella didnāt notice.Ā āHow long has she been awake?ā She was talking to Fenrir, the concern and matter of fact tone told her it was all business, all care.Ā āFive, ten minutes.ā Came her males gruff reply.
Bella was on her in a flash, eyes roaming her body and hands assessing the damage, asking a series of questions and pressing against sore spots with gentle fingers. It took a short while but eventually, Bella seemed to be happy enough with the apparently stable state of the Veela to bark a few instructions at Fenrir before slipping out again with a wave of her hand and aĀ āIāll check in on you again, later.ā
Fenrir settled back on the bed, as if heād never left and the interruption never happened. A small smile crossed her lips as she reached for the closest hand, taking it between both of hers. The deep tan of his skin, marred with beautiful ink was warm against her own porcelain. She held onto him like he was a lifeboat and she needed saving, but her words were gentle and calm.Ā āDo I pass the test? Can you relax a little, now?ā She asked with a teasing giggle.Ā
Truthfully? Arielle wouldnāt have him any other way. She tugged gently at his hand, a silent gesture.Ā āLay with me...ā She needed to feel him beside her, needed to feel those strong hands holding her as the world and the burdens that it carried, melted away around them.Ā āPlease?ā
