Hi. Yes, that Niamh Kelly. You can just call me Niamh (pronounced NEEV, like Steve) anything else feels unnecessarily formal for someone you are inevitably going to need at some point.
I am an RN in oncology at PPTH. Before you ask, yes, it is intense. Yes, it is exhausting. And yes, I am very good at it. I did not end up here because of passion or some heartwarming sense of purpose. I am here because I can handle it. Pressure, chaos, people falling apart in real time, none of that really shakes me. Someone has to keep things under control. It just happens to be me.
I have a low tolerance for incompetence and an even lower tolerance for people who think confidence is optional in a crisis. I do not sugarcoat, I do not babysit, and I do not pretend things are fine when they are not. If that sounds harsh, it probably is, but it also works.
I do not post much. When I do, it is either because I have something worth saying or because something has annoyed me beyond reason. Either way, you will know.
So if you are here for soft edges and gentle reassurance, you might want to keep scrolling. If you are here for someone who actually knows what they are doing, congratulations. You found me.
