As everyone in the skype chat has heard (which is almost everyone.... I think....) we have our first event coming up!
It’ll start this coming weekend on Friday (the 26th) and go until Sunday (the 28th)
For those not in the know, this event is going to be a biker gang event! You can tag any art for the event with #bffg biker event, and please send an ask with which characters you’re going to have participate in the event!
Unlike the past (wttpyls) gang events, however, the teams are much more flexible. Instead of having two teams everyone is assigned to, you Big Fucking Frogs™ can organize gangs or clubs based on friendships or fandoms for the event. From an IC standpoint, they can be small-size gangs brought together in BFFG, or large, organized gangs like the Smash Bros gang which has a handful members that happen to be in BBFG!
Also unlike the familiar gang event, the goal isn’t to kill people. Knowing us, people will probably end up dying anyway, but don’t feel obligated to shed blood.
What can you expect to do throughout the event, then? Some optional reading on biker gangs/clubs and more under the cut!
There’s more than one type of biker gang, and actually some interestingly specific terminology and customs for them. I’ll go over the different types so everyone can figure out what they want to make their characters a part of.
First are biker clubs, which are paid clubs that are legal, fun, and for people who really like motorcycles and stuff. If your character is one that likes to get down and dirty and feel like a badass but isn’t necessarily the type to break the law, this might be a good thing to plan around! Biker clubs are still competitive and territorial, but they’re not going to do anything to harm the general populace. Except street racing maybe? That’s probably the most illegal they get though.
On the other hand there are outlaw biker gangs which are like... actual gangs. Actual outlaw biker gangs are really terrifying and do a lot of things that aren’t going to cross over to the OBGs on BFFG. Robbing and murder are totally game though, as is kidnapping since some people in the chat were talking about that. Outlaw biker gangs are also more likely to have colors* and you can actually get kicked out of the gang if you lose them (ie, if someone in another gang rips them off). Most outlaw biker gangs still operate as a motorcycle club on the surface, hiding the illegal activity under that cover.
On the other hand, if you don’t think your character fits into a gang at all or they wouldnt look right on a motorcycle.... they don’t have to be in one. We’re also going to have civilians for the event, both neutral and affiliated with gangs but not necessarily a member of them. Civilians will actually be a fun and important role, especially for drama between gangs (kidnapping, bargaining chips, etc) Fun fun!
*Colors are another important thing. They’re the cool patches you see on the back of a motorcycle jacket or vest. Generally biker clubs have 2 patches, while outlaw biker gangs have 3. If you’re curious for design purposes, here’s how they’re generally laid out. In biker gangs, colors are considered property of the gang itself so if you lose them or if they’re stolen, you risk expulsion. For that reason a lot of rival gangs try to tear off each other’s colors.
That’s pretty much everything? If you have any questions feel free to message the main blog or any of the mods, or just bring it up in the skype chat!
