You remember how Dumbledore left Harry the Resurrection Stone? Everyone on tumblr is like "He did it to lure Harry to death" but that's wrong imo. Dumbledore didn't need to lure Harry into anything. He knew Harry would do whatever it took to beat Voldemort because Harry did just that at the age of 11. No. I think that when Dumbledore was leaving Harry the Stone he thought of that 11-year-old boy pining for his family in front of an enchanted mirror and wanted to give him that before his death.
You are spot on.
The idea that Dumbledore was “luring Harry to death” shows a deep misunderstanding of both of their characters. Harry was on his way. He’d already made his choice. (He made his choice when he chose to hunt Horcruxes instead of Hallows.) He never would have made any other choice. Dumbledore didn’t need to lure him. He knew Harry inside and out. He knew what Harry saw in the Mirror of Erised; he knew Harry’s greatest power was love.
The only thing that “lured” Harry to his death was the prospect of putting an end to Voldemort and preventing anyone else from dying at Voldemort’s hand.
Dumbledore left Harry the Stone so he wouldn’t have to make that journey alone. In the Harry Potter world, love=strength=courage. LOVE=STRENGTH=COURAGE. Having his parents, Sirius and Remus at his side gave Harry strength and courage as he walked toward his sacrifice. He’d have gone on anyway, regardless, but being surrounded by his lost loved ones made it that tiny bit easier.
Dumbledore’s gift to Harry was a gift of love based on his deep understanding of who Harry was as a person and what would make his journey easiest for him.
