Materials: For this piece I had used a regular plain rectangular canvas. I had also used acrylic paint for this piece but I used different brushes and sponges for different textures and shapes on the painting.
Complimentary Colors: For this piece I had only used red and green to complement eachother. I used a couple different shades of green for the grass in the field as well as the tree. I ended up using red to create the field of poppies.
Classmate Inspiration: This piece was inspired by Alexys. I really liked the clouds and her flowers in her piece so I decided to incorporate those into mine.
Visual Goal: When looking at this piece I want the viewer to feel calm and free. I want the moon reflecting on the water to be an interpretation of self reflection and while looking at the field they should feel like they’re reminiscing to good childhood memories.
Materials: For this piece I had wanted to branch out on my art skills so instead of using my sketch pad to draw something I had used a plain circle canvas and acrylic paint.
Complementary Color: For this piece I had involved different combinations of colors that complemented each other. The main part of the woman’s face has a mix of yellow and purple and her jaw uses a green and purple ish red. While the man I had used an orange and blue pattern as the main part.
Classmate Inspiration: I had taken my inspiration from Ally’s project for her midterm. I really took inspiration from her background with a tie die effect so I incorporated that into my piece.
Visual Goals: When creating this piece I really wanted the viewer to experience the feeling of being so in love with another person that your world feels so bright and chaotic. The colors represent the light that the person brings to the others world and the different patterns are supposed to bring a sense of craze to the viewer.
The assignment this week I had started with two backgrounds one where it’s in a cavern and another of a view at the end of a hike. I had found a page with a picture of a woman with her kids on a road trip and had decided to use her mouth as the base feature. I had used 8 items throughout many magazines that could be used to make a human like face. There is supposed to be an ear made from a speaker but it blends almost perfectly into the background.

Activity one: I asked my roommate to sit so I can draw her portrait, I really enjoyed this part of the overall assignment because we just yapped the whole time I was drawing.
Activity two: I walked the trail behind Francis and I found a ton of little acorn tops and walnut shells as well as two stones that when I put them together it reminded me of a bear so I used my walnut shells to make up the limbs of the bear. I had decided to then place leaves and acorn tops around the bear but I had to put some of the tops on the leaves so they wouldn’t fly away from wind. I ended up really liking the final product though.
Activity three: I had invited my friends and roommates to have a paint night with me. I had already had all the supplies we needed to paint so I told everyone to bring themselves and and empty stomach because I made some pasta to go with the painting.
For part one of the midterm, I took inspiration from the game uncharted. It is a treasure hunting game which has a big mountain with a very eerie feeling to it. I decided to put the skull into the face of the mountain, by putting the eye holes and nose hole as various caves in the mountain.
For my attendance this week, I decided to highlight Alex's progress in his artistic skills with his midterm project. I have seen an increase in his attention to detail every week, and I feel he has grown more confident in himself as an artist and comfortable allowing his imagination to be free with his pieces.
For the assignment of animals this week I had decided to do a fun twist on sirens in Greek mythology. I decided to do a sort of desert background for the “habitat” of my hybrids. For my animal hybrids instead of the female head and the bird body for the sirens, I decided to do bird heads and female bodies.
For part one I decided to make a skull that was melting or transforming into some kind of liquid. I attempted to use complimentary colors for the skull with blue and purple for the base color and shading and added the yellows and oranges for highlights.
For the photo, I had taken this in the morning when I was heading home for break. I chose to take this picture because it was super foggy that morning and I thought it looked particularly spooky.
I am a Capricorn so I decided to include the constellation that it comes from, Capricornus. The two main colors that are associated with this sign are green and brown to represent the earth element it is under. The word Capricorn roughly translates to goat fish so I have included the mascot of the goat fish for the Capricorn sign. I have also included the god Enki that is seen to be the god of Capricorn as well as including the symbol for Capricorn.
My celebrity shared birthday is with Mary J. Blige so I included one of the only songs I really know of hers.
For this weeks post I drew inspiration from both Gabe and Kenzies posts. I used the cabin on the island that Kenzie drew for her post because I thought it would look cute and utilized some orange to draw a sunrise that Kenzie had for her sky. I utilized the mountains that Gabe used in his landscape because I thought they were cool how he shaded them.
For this weeks assignment I used a mix of cool and warm tones to recreate the landscape I photographed this summer. For the grass I used a mix of green and an orangeish yellow to copy the patches of dead grass while i used a couple different shades of green for the bushes in the background and to compliment the green I drew the deer in an orange base with brown on top to match the shade of the deers coat.
For my landscape, I learned pretty basic steps for using colored pencils. The two main tips from the tutorial that I utilized the most were sketching out things that I had in my head before getting into the actual coloring part and different ways that I held the pencils when I was filling in the landscape to have those areas be as even as possible as well as holding the pencil differently to get different textures in the other areas. I also had different shades of color that I was using to create the highlights and shadows as well as using small strikes of green in the closest green patch to add the effect of grass. I then used a couple of different magazines to fill the meadow with wildflowers, a deer, an eagle, and a group of friends on a picnic.
Hello, my name is Bianca, and I am currently in my junior year majoring in psychology. I often like to go to antique stores and I have had some very unique and amazing finds at many of the places I have been. I also love reading, especially at night when it’s calm and quiet. Though I do not have much of an artistry background, I do enjoy a good paint session or to occasionally sketch and doodle when I’m feeling an artsy mood.
