Update on the Final Chapter

Hey all, it's @bunbijou!! Your favorite comic-drawer/internet-poster, and I'm checking in to give you all an update on how the final chapter is progressing. I took a small break from the comic to work on my game, VESSOUL, (Trailer Link) which is set to release in Fall 2026; until then, a free demo is available to play via Steam (see above) .

As of the past month-or-two, I've been gradually finishing up character references, some of which dated back to the time of the prologue (May 2023) and finally, I'm all caught up, which means I can start drawing the final chapter, which will be titled Purple Rain. Being the last chapter in the comic, Purple Rain has been tossed out and re-written three different times since I started the comic. Here's a list of things that I was considering for prior versions of the story that didn't make the cut:

Lin would design a new C.F.C (Compact Fusion Core)-powered mono-wheel bike called the Balintong Gradient. However I hate drawing vehicles

Lin would design a robotic crash-test-dummy / brother for use in a long-term mission exploring different Rainbow Bridge configurations.

Lin designs ball armor and goes ball mode

Ferris would become the new C.E.O. of BIFRÖST

The current iteration of the story has a good balance of action and big character moments, which in a comic with as many characters as BIFRÖST, is something I'm very concerned about. Anywho, expect more news about the comic in a month or so. Thanks for reading, and I'll talk to you again soon!

Hey all,

Thanks for reading BIFRÖST! The last chapter is still yet to come. It's in the early stages of development as I go back-and-forth on what's absolutely crucial to wrap up at this phase, and what can be saved for future project (e.g. game)

In anticipation of possible future BIFRÖST game, I've been working on an unrelated game project since late November. It's in the final stages of development now, and I'll definitely want to get that squared away before continuing on with comic.

Viola has a difficult conversation with Zeal. Expressing her confidence, Zeal leads Viola down into a dimly-lit sector of the bunker, wherein they find the dried bones of individuals long forgotten...

Some time later, Dahlia awakes and recounts her dream to Zeal and Cecilia. As Zeal departs, she's taken aback by the inebriated Dahlia calling her "mom." Cecilia will never let her live this down.

Cecilia shows off her catch to her caretaker, Zeal. Understandably, she's gobsmacked. She reluctantly agrees to care for the young rabbit.

A young Cecilia fishes in a subterranean tunnel. Suddenly, a sound from the intake pipe draws her attention, and out bursts Dahlia in a gush of seawater.

Dahlia and her new friend explore the submerged ruins of an old city. Suddenly, Dahlia is pulled in by a vortex, and sucked into the depths...

In reality, a pipe loosened by the explosion leaks water on Dahlia's sleeping countenance. Zeal, Viola and the Black Stars monitor her.

In her dream, a young Dahlia looks upon three familiar figures, before being beckoned by a kindly sea creature.

Viola and Zeal try to make heads or tails of the Black Stars' unusual behavior.

As the explosion shakes the bunker, Dahlia sleeps soundly in the infirmary, dreaming of warmth and water.

The rescue team withdraws, fleeing from the Black Stars emerging from the corpses of the lab assistants. Monica detonates an IED attached to the pirate Bridge.

Dr. Rodenz has yet another trick over her sleeve; Dr. Renee and Monica suggest a hasty withdrawl.

Viola's torture device is removed, at long last. Ferris gives an apology.

After an extended period in captivity, and so close to freedom, Dr. Renee cries out in frustration.
