Be a soldier or your own captain?(3)
My opinion
From all those advantage and disadvantage, in my opinion, the best way to start a career is be a soldier first. Learn something when you being a employee. Learn more skills and understand how this industry works gather your social network to get yourself ready for being a captain. After few years, when you pretty sure and understand what you are doing. Then go start on your own business.

Be a soldier or your own captain?(1)
When the graduation is coming, a lot of students have to face a serious question: to find a job or start their own business? Well, there is not a correct answer. Both of them have their pros and cons. In these two blogs will list them and have a sample understand explain for them, and give my opinion for this question.
Pros of be your own captain
@ Make decisions yourself: you can choose which case you want to take and how to do it.
@ Set your working hours yourself: Flexible working hours. work when you want to work , and take a breath when you want.
@ Can improve your communication skills: If you want to be your own boss, then you are every role in the working environment. You need to a lot of work to handle a case. Such as you need to find a job for yourself, you need to talk to your client and do the work. During this process, you will learn a lot.
@ Better life: You can choose if you want more working life or more family time.
@ Exercise your idea muscle: Don’t have a people tell what you need to do. when you have a client, you can write proposal by yourself and propose your own idea.
Cons of be your own captain
@ Lonely job, do not have social environment: There will be only you at the workshop. you don’t have people to talk when you need a communication.
@ No one can help you when you get trapped: In a working group, you can looking for help from your colleagues. You have to solve it yourself.
@ Spend your own money to set up: You will need to pay all equipments when you start a business, such as location(pay for the rent, electric charge etc.), software(buy all those software you need and upgrade fees).
@ Cannot take big jobs: One person cannot handle a bigger job. And a client with a bigger job is perfer to find a formal company.
@ Earn what you Earn: You have no assurance of salary and compensation. If you get a job, then that’s all your money. If you don’t get a job, then you won’t have any income.
@ Have to take responsibility and risks by yourself: Low footprint means less of a reputation to defend. No backup, harder to contact.
@ Don’t have employee benefits: Include group insurance (health, dental, vision, life etc.), disability income protection, retirement benefits, daycare, tuition reimbursement, sick leave, vacation (paid and unpaid), funding of education, as well as flexible and alternative work arrangements.

This is a video about two people’s life.
Life is simple, it doesn’t have those dramatic stories.
I want break those drama rules. People meet and they pass. They won't happen any relationship between them.

5 opening Sequences I chose
(1)
Spectre(2015): http://www.artofthetitle.com/title/spectre/
I have to say when the first time saw this in cinema, I really shocked. It does not use the music to affect audience’s mood and emotion. It has really powerful visual elements: the fire, octopus, the falling, lighting, colour style. Actors do not need to do too much movement or expression, audience already been conquered.
(2)
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: http://www.artofthetitle.com/title/the-girl-with-the-dragon-tattoo/
This opening get rid of all colour elements, just using black, white and grey.
Those dark scene with special visual effects is really unforgettable. Using slow motion to strengthen visual impact.
(3)
Doctor Who: http://www.artofthetitle.com/title/doctor-who-series-8/
Doctor who is one of the longest television drama. It has its own symbol: Soundtrack, the time tunnel and time vortex thing. All these years, every director is following these rules. When people watch the tunnel, their head will play the BGM. When people hear the BGM, their head will imagine the time vortex and The Tardis.
(4)
Lord of War: http://www.artofthetitle.com/title/lord-of-war/
This sequence used a special Point Od View to tell a bullet’s life. From a factory(its birth) to transport process, then arrive at a war-torn country. Finally, its end-kill a child.
It does use any digital visual effect to make it more beautiful. It just a a storyteller’s way to present the brutality of war.
(5)
Orange Is the New Black: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBITGyJynfA
Using still images create a montage with extreme close up on their eyes and mouth. In the TVplay, those people may be looks like normal person, but they are criminals. In the really world, they may looks like criminals, but they are not.
This montage also match with a song which is talking about criminals.
BGM: Cello Concerto in E minor Op.85: I. Adagio-Moderato - Jacqueline Du Pre
This is a opening sequence i made for the same story as the other one “Game or War”
This opening sequence doesn’t has any story in it. I just us e these different colour drops to create the emotional feeling.
During the sequence, I’m not just using “drops”, I also make the camera swimming in the colour smoke. the colour smoke is nor clear and single colour. It can be regarded as what the character feel in the story-living in this mess world.
About the title “ Through the Window”: montage? eyes?(through eyes to see the truth)
BGM: Abraham’s Daughter- Arcade Fire
This is a story about those Dolls. In their world, they fight for money and throne. Some of them get survival by killing others and their “friend”. At the beginning, someone is hanging a doll’s head. Then the voiceover asked is this a “game or war”? and choose “friend or throne”? This is asking those dolls and also asking the audience if you are them, what do you choose.
I also use a lot of water scene. All those stuffs are means a important event in the story. and I like those bubbles when things dropping into the water, so I keep lots of frames for it.
The ink colour drop doesn’t mean any thing in the story. it just use for create a emotional feeling. The reason why i choose red colour drop is because red is a significant colour. It can means blood, love, fight and wars. I think it is very suitable colour for this sequence.
For the title: through the window. I didn’t use a actual window. I want audience to feel they are in the water, and this screen is their window to look out.
