Under The Influence Of You | Wren & Billy
"And, what? We can’t just go off into the light? Do we have unfinished business to fuck with?" The sarcasm that laced her voice was obvious as she reached for another shot. "I doubt I’m ever going to get used to it. And I certainly don’t want to have to deal with it."
"If you find out a way to kill yourself and stay deal, please let me know. I spent the better part of a year trying to figure out how to do it and I got nothing at all." He told her, finishing his beer.
Under The Influence Of You | Wren & Billy
"Get used to it? Yeah, okay, I doubt that. When was the last time you said to yourself ‘God, I can’t wait to wake up today, and be dead.’” She asked, raising an eyebrow. “Both? Well, that’s sucks. Misery loves company, I guess. Care to elaborate?”
"You get used to it. You learn to accept it. It takes time. But no. I'm not happy that I'm dead. I just deal with it." He said, rolling his eyes. "Life is shit and I'm stuck living in the epitome of hell. Elaborate enough for ya?"
Under The Influence Of You | Wren & Billy
"Rough day, rough week, rough everything." She said, picking up her second shot and downing it quickly. The last thing she wanted to be right now was sober and she was making easy headway on getting herself drunk as she could. "You got somethin’ to drink away or are you just really into bars?" She asked before ordering another round - and several more to spare.
"You'll get used to it." He told her, taking a drink of his beer when the bartender finally brought it over to him. He shrugged and ordered himself another beer. With as long as it took him to get the first beer, he might as well order it now. "Both."
Under The Influence Of You | Wren & Billy
Wren downed a shot of whiskey and slapped another bill on the bar, signaling the bartender to hit her with another, and crossed her right leg over her left, her head resting in her palm as she waited for Billy to show up. She’d only been here for five minutes, but it felt like forever. There was a bandage over her forehead, the gash being too disgusting to solve with some makeup, and she hoped that it would go away eventually - she didn’t want to be stuck with it for the rest of eternity.
Billy took his time getting to the bar. He figured he would get there before Wren anyway. Yet, when he walked into the bar, he spotted her sitting at the end of the bar taking a shot. He made his way over to her and dropped down in the seat beside her, ordering a pink from the bartender. "Rough day?"
Lucky fucker. Wonder what she did to piss him off.
Looked at him the wrong way.
Meet me there, then.
See you there.
Fuck! I wish I’d been there to see that.
You and me both. I think Zane did it. Or that's what I've heard anyway.
Some chick? Who? How’d she die?
Don't know who. Just know her head was bashed in at the cemetery.
I haven’t missed anything too important, have I? [He laughed and took a step back to lean against the wall.]
Bout time you showed your face again. All you missed was some chick getting killed.
I could use a drink. Or twelve. Anyone wanna hit Pete’s?
I'm down.
"Uh, for starters, the guy that was leading a ring of killers. Murray Dunley, I think? They fuckin’ fried his ass." She said, raising an eyebrow at him as she spoke. "Nice to meet you, Billy. Well, maybe. If you don’t slaughter me, it’ll be nice to meet you."
"Never heard of him. I'm not big into the history of this god forsaken town." That was a bit a lie. He was curious about what was wrong with this fucked up town. He just was too lazy to care. "I'll try not to kill you, Stella. Just try not to piss me off."
"It’s just a whole bunch of kids killing each other. At least they get the glory of being Victor at the end of the games. What do the killers here get? A bloody shoe and the possibility of being arrested and put on death row." Stella had always been opiniated, but she liked talking to people who were as opinionated, or at least as well-versed, as her. "I’m Stella, by the way."
"Name one killer around here who has actually gotten caught. I've seen the police ignore a kid walking down the street covered in blood. Just ignored him like it was nothing out of the ordinary. Because it ain't." Billy rolled his eyes. It was past pathetic how meek the police force was around here. "I'm Billy."
She signaled the bartender that she was ready for another martini and waited not-so-patiently for it, needing to be drunk for the current conversation. “Entertaining? It’s like the fucking Hunger Games out there. I don’t know about you, but I don’t enjoy living in Panem.”
Billy took another long drink of his beer. The sooner he was drunk, the better. The crowd behind him was getting rowdy. Any second now a fight could break out. It was really annoying, like most things in Deacon were. "Never sat that movie."
"I know it has. I’ve lived here my whole life. The descent into madness this place has seen is just crazy." He was right, though. It had been going on for as long as anyone could remember and she was better off getting used to it and making friends with the bad guys to spare her own life. "Twisted is definitely the appropriate word to use."
"I find it entertaining." Billy took another drink. This was his third bar and the alcohol was finally starting to take effect. Everything was just starting to seem less annoying. It was about time too. "That's why I used it."
"Well, maybe this town needs to start changing. It’s getting fucking ridiculous." She said, setting her martini glass on the bar. "Besides, there are better ways to occupy your time. Maybe some of these people should find jobs or do something useful with their lives."
"Good luck changing it. It's been like this forever. Ask anybody." Billy said with a chuckle. "I've got a job. As do most of these fuckers. Killing is just a twisted hobby."
"It’s just annoying. Why does everyone think the only good time to be had is slaughtering innocent people? It’s ridiculous." She said, shaking her head as she finished her martini. The effects of the alcohol were starting to work its magic on her body, a warm feeling growing all around her.
"Because they’re all psychopathic freaks. It’s just this town." He said, holding out his empty beer mug to the bartender. A few seconds later another one was put in front of him.
