LIMITED EDITION PRINTS & PLATES

I’ve been working on some new merchandise. Prints matted with an actual, stamped reproduction of a license plate mounted right onto the mat and framed in a classic black frame. Pieces are signed and numbered and limited to runs of 50 for each image.

The first run consists of two Pristine Christine and Fiery Christine, Bob Falfa’s ‘55 Chevy and Milner’s Deuce Coupe from American Graffiti, Bandit’s Trans-Am from Smokey & The Bandit and Baby the Impala from Supernatural with Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters on the way very soon.

BOB DYLAN - MURDER MOST FOUL - REVIEW

Bob Dylan's new single Murder Most Foul: Not really a song but more like a chore. It's a 17 minute dirge. Listen to the first minute and you've heard ALL the minutes. Low-fi droning white noise that never goes anywhere musically. It's not bad per se but aggressively boring. It's like he took a fascinating story that we all know, the JFK assassination, and made it as uninteresting as fucking possible. Lyrically it feels like two separate songs smashed together. One recounts the murder of JFK and the other is a sort of homage to the history of rock n’ roll, name checking the likes of Wolfman Jack, Eagles, Tom Jones, Patsy Cline, Larry Williams and Queen. It’s weird and clumsy. I couldn’t even read all of the lyrics without nodding off.

I’m not a huge Dylan fan. I do love his songwriting but his performing is pretty hit or miss with me, although as I get older it’s more hit. But this new song is not his shining moment. I get it. The man is 78 years old. Perhaps he doesn’t have the get-up-and-go he used to. He’s been doing this a long time. He’s given us a lot of great music. He deserves the accolades. He deserve ALL the accolades. Just not for this song.

SUPERNATURAL

THE CAR I think most of us in 2020 are familiar with the show even if we haven’t seen it: The Winchester Brothers tooling around the country in their black 1967 Chevrolet Impala four-door killing demons and taking names. Admittedly I don’t watch the show. I tried but it just didn’t connect with me. But I love that car! After high school I had a 1968 Chevrolet Impala Custom which was a step down from a SS. I was rusted and a little beat up but it was a great car. Unlike my car which came with a small block 327, Winchester’s Baby has a 502 big block V-8. The creator of the series, Eric Kripke, says he was inspired by shows like the Dukes of Hazzard and Knight Rider, which all had cars as characters. Initially the boys were to drive a 1965 Mustang until someone informed him an Impala had a larger trunk therefore would be easier to carry a body or two. I can vouch for that. THE ART The painting is 11’x14” oil on board. It features Baby, or Metallicar, shadowed and emerging from the darkness on a blood red background. I’m playing around with some backgrounds, mostly getting inspiration from the concept car art of the 50s, 60s and 70s. The original can be purchased through the link at the top of the page and prints can be bought here on eBay or Amazon.
