Interactive Book, Case Study
Short video from Tamper Studio presents the stages of creating an interactive installation and the various skills which are required:
For the 2017 United Nation’s General Assembly in NY, we were commissioned to create a set of four interactive books. Each was a custom designed 40"Wx30"H physical book with touch-capacity and projected content that we designed and animated.
… We are a small 2-man experiental design studio with a background in post-production (design/animation/vfx and live action) based out of Seattle,WA.
TouchDesigner was the central core of our installation, handling the real-time interactions and different components. Using Python, we took advantage of the Computer Vision library to train and recognize markers for individual pages. We also implemented invisible infrared ink to stamp the blank book pages with custom markers that our system of IR cameras would read and recognize for each page turn.
