DON'T THROW TOMATOS AT ME but i think that the fairy tail dragons are kinda boring. mid at best. they're good plot devices and good for backstory stuff, but i'll never be invested in them as people. "oh they had this and this personality trait and they planned all of this stuff and-" snore. they look cool and can roar, no need to force a personality onto them. this includes igneel, bc what, his only canon personality in ft is "dad". put down the toMATOES

Just a little rant about the hyq.

i think weve all realized that in hyq all the characters are ooc. tbh i think that the reason is cuz mashima doesnt write them anymore.

i think the only part of the story he actually does the story board of is like the main fights and just a general gist of what is to come.

the reason i think this is that in the one shot that was released a few days before the hyq anime was written by him and all the characters seemed much more in character. like how gray and natsu actually fought alot and gray stripped much more and ichiya just somehow being there and erza being her strict but goofy self.

i think smth that proves this is when a fan asked mashima to draw lucy in a pisces star dress, he had no idea yukino even had star dresses.

this also probably explain why nalus relationship feels so completely unlike their relationship in og ft and why alot of characters feel so ooc, ueda doesnt know how to write these characters. he cant write them in the way mashima did. hyq doesnt have the super emotional moments that the og ft had. the only one i can remember of the top of my head is when lucy was afraid of natsus flames for the first time but i think mashima wrote the first few arcs which is why they seem more fleshed out.

also i absolutely hate uedas art style. they look like their 15 when theyre in their early 20s and wendy looks 10. unlike when mashima drew them and wendy actually grew.

The animation for episode 22 of hyq was so bad 😭 Also i’m sure a ten year old can draw Lucy and Aquarius flash back scenes better. Give me back 2018 animation pleaseee 😭
