I think the reason I like 21st Century Girls the most is because it’s the closest I’ve heard any of the male idol groups empower girls without focusing it around being in a relationship with them. Like “tell them you’re enough, tell them you’re strong" and “everybody gonna love you” makes me feel sO GOOD. It’s just the whole vibe of the song is great and I love the whole “all my ladies put your hands up” part cause it’s not like ‘I wanna see who’s single’ it’s like ‘this song is for you and I want you to enjoy it and celebrate yourself’ AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH

i just watched sunmi’s noir mv and i think it is talking about such an important topic of our century - people doing anything and everything, including life threatening things, for the likes and followers/subscribers, it’s about people being addicted to the artificial sense of approval and validation through the social media and likes, risking their lives for that; sunmi is eating those heart shaped candies nonstop in the mv which is a metaphor for the addiction to those likes and etc. this is honestly such a strong mv and it conveys it’s message completely without me even knowing the lyrics nor their translation yet, i am actually so proud of sunmi for speaking up about this.

sunmi uses a spark of feminine horror in her mvs .. there is grotesqueness in polished beauty and while she does break it rather bluntly with imagery of blood/injury or contrasting unsettling events with a happy smile; there is also an unsettling vibrancy in her raw stare or simple but demanding presence - i enjoy seeing overly beautiful near 100% perfection treated as it is at the core: unnerving.
