"I think it'd be kinda rude to be harboring a crush on a girl who has no interest in you" I'm usually on-board with your takes, but... crushes are morally neutral. People can't help feelings, and it's not predatory to have a crush on someone that you aren't taking any actions about. acting creepy would be a different matter, but just having a crush??
like, I'm a gay guy and the amount of women who've crushed on me is... a lot. I don't think it's rude of them, as long as they aren't pushy about it. same as when I've crushed on straight guys. the idea that it would make me somehow predatory feels... uncomfortably like conservative "thought crime" rhetoric (and as a person with OCD and intrusive thoughts, "your thoughts make you a bad person" rhetoric is extra harmful)
You're well within your rights to not add that option into your game if you don't want to, and I don't even take issue with that! my issue is framing thoughts and feelings as capable of doing active harm, even if you don't act on them
Y'all are generally really thoughtful and intentional in your writing, so I know it was an honest mistake, just... please don't say things like that
I'm sorry that sounded harsh. I don't at all think this applies to real life and real feelings. I'm talking only about how this is a video game feature. Vianca isn't a real person and I, an actual human, would have to write the content of someone being into Vianca for it to be in the game. In fandom, people can like characters regardless of their sexuality, of course. If you love her, make fanart or write fanfiction of having a crush that can't be helped.
I guess what you need to know is that from my perspective, when you have a crush on someone the MC will totally fawn over them. That's how the game works. The MC will be thinking about how cute Vianca is and wishing you could date her. I'd have to make a totally separate version of what having a crush on Vianca would be like where MC is respecting that she's not interested but can't help the feelings they have, etc.
So, it unintentionally came across like:
A. People don't care that the MC would be so clearly into someone who doesn't like them and doesn't want that attention.
B. People are aware of how MC would act and so they want me to make a lot of extra content for the sake of a pretty niche alteration for a pretty minor character.
But that is just my view on things, though, and I understand if it's disappointing. I don't want anyone to feel bad for liking lovely lady Vianca. I only want people to know that there are certain stories and situations that the game can't have for multiple reasons.
