I am 22 years old and I live with my mom. Both of my parents help me on a weekly basis. I used to be so ashamed of myself because I still needed so much help from them after I turned 18. Like at 18 all of my conditions would suddenly became magically okay and I would be able to do everything independently or something. That wasn’t the case. But I wanted independence so bad that I moved out on my own a few months after I turned 18. Once I was alone and needed to do everything to take care of myself, I started to fall apart. Mentally and physically. I now understand that I need help, and that is okay!
How many of you either live with your parents or need their help often because of your condition? Please reblog if you do, I want to show all of the young kids who follow me that it is okay. And hopefully save them some mental anguish when they turn 18 too.
Me and I’m 27
me and even though i’m only 19. i really thought i was the only one, as dumb as that sounds?? i’ve depended on not just my mom and grams but everyone in my family to help with simple things such as opening a bag of chips or helping take off my shoes. it’s such a struggle because some days i still feel like a big burden and often get depressed that i will always need help with things and possibly end up alone once everyone is gone. so, i’m glad that others need help and it doesn’t make me feel as guilty as i use to be, because it’s okay to need help. so, thank you for this, all of you that shared your stories. thank you for making me feel a little less alone and a little less depressed about my condition
Me! I’m 28 in less than a month and still live with my parents. Recently I had a spell where I could barely walk and wouldn’t trust myself to hold anything so if I didn’t have my mum to help me I wouldn’t have been able to do anything that day.
