I kinda wanna cling to the hope that there might actually be a rational reason plot wise behind Peridot’s proportions fluctuating so much, but I’m probably just deluding myself… I’d be really happy if her head/torso/thighs were depicted with the same proportions they had before, sob. Oh, and I know there are already dozens of posts about it, but I had wanted to make a comparison chart ever since last year and just as I was about to make it, everyone started sharing their own :’) I still wanted to post something about the topic, so… uh. How are fans supposed to care about supposed threats in a narrative when the characters in said narrative continue to care less and less? If potential threats and dangerous outcomes are just shrugged off prior to their arrival, how can fans really feel anything when they finally come?

Hey remember that scene from It Could’ve Been Great where there was this ominous floating sphere and Steven was like “wtf is that” and Garnet was like “that’s not what we came for” and then they focused the camera on it for a few seconds with creepy music and then never fucking addressed it again

youre right, its not always a bad thing, when its done on purpose. theres a difference between going off model for comedy and expressiveness

and going off model because your crew cant be bothered to learn to draw the characters they make a living off of drawing

and you know!! steven universe used to go off model on purpose a lot!!

and it was funny and charming! the new examples of su going off model are just a result of the storyboarders being lazy. nothing more nothing less (except in the case of them slimming down characters to be more chibi/’’pleasing’’ which is just gross)

i fell in love with her season one and paved the path to realizing i was a lesbian, and hearing her sing only pushed me further down that road

seeing her reduced to a cardboard cutout with a speech bubble that says “IM A FUSION! LOVE!”…. it hurts to see a character that affected me so deeply treated like that
