I think it’s cute that thing humans do when they see a boat pass and the people on the boat wave at them and they wave back. For absolutely no reason. They don’t know each other they’re not trying to communicate anything other than “LOOK! I am on a boat!!! Hello!!!!” “I see you!!!! On the boat!!!! Hello!!!!!!!!!!” in a genuine moment of wholesome human connection and excitement.

this reminds me of a time i vacationed in the states. on the way to the park one spring day with my cousins, a school bus passed by us and a bunch of kids in the bus waved at us just because. 

we were a bit surprised at the gesture, but of course we waved back at them happily. i found this really cool because the people in our country aren’t given to waving at random strangers at any given time. 

this happened a long, long time ago but i never forgot that genuine moment of wholesome human connection and excitement.

This is a callout post for the TSA agent who was incredibly thoughtful and concerned about me flying across the country all alone without an adult and wanted to make sure I knew how to go through security and felt safe and comfortable and explained that, as per the signs, children under 12 can keep their shoes on, and directed me specifically to another agent to help me so I wouldn’t be overwhelmed or afraid.

You were super sweet and kind, and the look on your face when I handed you my driver’s license and you realized I was 25 was priceless.
