Spider Teeth zine

Wherein our protagonist flies to Thailand to get a brand new cunt

Spider Teeth is not only about the author’s surgery, but also what led up to it, the difficulty of tucking and sex, the reality of needing surgery while poor and accepting money from a significant other to access a life-saving procedure that would remain out of reach for most trans women. ellie also describes, in detail, the entire process of surgery: from flying halfway around the world to Thailand, to being prepped, to waking up and making her way through the first hours and days of recovery in the hospital, messy and painful and sometimes alarming.

The zine fills in many small details of the experience, and obstacles expected and unexpected are discussed. Along the way, ellie shares her thoughts and doubts, from whether this surgery is the one she wants, to not “connecting” with new body parts right away. At the beginning of the zine, ellie writes, “How do I write about ‘the surgery’ in a way that feels honest?” That sense of striving for honesty is present throughout the zine, integrating ellie’s concerns with how her narrative interacts with larger narratives on gender, bodies, and trans trajectories. What emerges is real and honest in its individuality.

Call Out Queen//Mark Aguhar

A friend gave me a copy of the Call Out Queen zine: http://ebookbrowse.com/zine-call-out-queen-pdf-d385110837 which has collated some writings of Mark Aguhar, and suggested Bitch Please distro it. As a zine distro run by two white trans women that is unable to ask the author for permission, I don't know if/think we should, after all, Mark's blog was "BLOGGING FOR BROWN GURLS". Is it enough to ask the people who put it together for permission? Even if they did give us permission, is that enough? Are they even the right people to ask?

Call for Submissions: Trans Feminine (Anti)-narrative Zine

Being a trans lady is real hard, and part of that is especially in places like where I grew up and live there’s nobody to reflect back to you and say “no actually what you’re feeling is real and valid and ok.”

Reading Nevada by Imogen Binnie fucked with me for like a week straight because I don’t think I’ve ever read another story where a trans lady was a 3 dimensional character and a protagonist. And that’s fucked up.

Ok so I had this idea in a fit of rage of basically taking a bunch of my blog entries and mashing it up with a bunch of stuff a sweetie would contribute and making this weird kind of cut-up zine about what it’s like to be a trans lady and what I’m mad about but it’s hard to talk about.

So what I don’t want to have in this zine is

any form of essentialism

long theory pieces

anything fucked up w/r/t race, gender, sexuality, ability, etc, etc

social justice

What I do want is

your (real or made up) diary pages, rambling and semi-coherent

your complicated feelings about complicated things that never get talked about

things that run against narratives

sloppy embarrassing feelings

what you wish another trans feminine person had told you to validate you 

Submit away! Your submissions will be anonymous and probably cut up and rearranged in some way by me (lumpenspaceprincess). I won’t necessarily include everything but I’ll include as much as I can.
