Happy Tanabata star festival! Legend says that on that night stars Vega and Altair (as the weaver Orihime and herdsman Hikoboshi) meet across the Milky Way which separates them lovers the rest of the year.
The festival originated from China, and merged in Japan with local celebrations creating overtime the Tanabata we know of today. The most well known tradition is to hang on bamboo (or other wish trees) colorful strips of paper called “tanzaku” where people write wishes ^^
If you wish to learn more about Tanabata history and customs, have a look at the GREAT thread by @camelliakyoto
[I am not linking any source for the pretty Tanabata themed haneri/decorative collar above - any reverse image search I’ve done leads to suspicious websites… the photo here is from]

Visiting kimono “The Way of the Sky” by Yuzo Miyano
I was walking along a path through a dense bamboo forest in Sagano, Kyoto, when I looked up at the sky and saw a “path in the sky” leading through the bamboo with soft sunlight coming from behind the clouds.
