My only access to Internet! 😭😭 Aside from this wonderfully overpriced cafe, I have no wifi. Not in my room, not on campus, nowhere! My time in Beijing has been crazy busy. Every morning I wake up around 5:30 the. begin to get ready for the day. After breakfast at 7:30. I have training for 4 hours, teaching for an hour, and Chinese class for 2 hours...after all of this I have dinner, lesson planning, and then it's time for bed. Through this whirlwind of activity, I've also met some really cool people in the program. Although Bejing is great, I'm looking forward to the end of training and moving to Shenzhen!

Now I thought I would just talk about this now and get over with it. Chinese people are like any other people so some are very nice and others are rude. The rudeness mostly comes from ignorance and their own formulated stereotyping. So some of the things that you will experience are.

Almost there

Sitting in Incheon Airport in South Korea, I realize that this is the last bastion of free-unrestricted internet that I may come across for the feasible future.  For the next year I will be working in Shenzhen, China as an English Teacher and thus will be subject to...THE GREAT FIREWALL! Yep....so that means no Facebook, no YouTube, no Netflix, no Hulu, no Pandora and worst of all no Twitter! T.T  But in this time of social media isolation I plan to make up for it by going outside to smell the roses, wandering around and getting lost, and by meeting new people.  I know this will be a very transformative experience, with more than a handful of crazy times along the way, so stay tuned to Black in China Part II.  :D
