Curled lips hid a deep annoyance, but that was something Asha was used to; people belittling her, that was an old story. “ Quiet, Captain. I was told we were meant to do business. Or perhaps you were expecting a more masculine contractor ”.

Balon used to say he'd rather have a dead in his house than a Tully at his door, and somehow Asha wasn't inclined to think differently; as far as naval shipping went, they were still their main rival, and a dangerous one. But, unlike her father, Asha had a way with words, and of catching people off guard — in a crowded pub, for instance.
“ Edmure ”, one hand pat him on the back as if she was nothing less than an old friend, as Asha took her place on a stool right beside the man. “ I see nobody has taught you how to drink like an adult yet. Let me buy you a drink, uh? Then maybe we can t a l k ”.

A bottle sat at Asha's left, on the table, completely empty if not for the last surviving drop of wine she had mercifully ignored. It wouldn't have been such a disgrace, if it hadn't been preceeded by another bottle, now scattered somewhere on the floor — they weren't making her feel better, as she had hoped, but at least they made her tongue quicker and sharper than usual.
“ What is it, Uncle? ”, Asha barely acknowledged the man's presence, stretching her legs on the couch. “ If you're here to try and wound my pride, get in line. Your dear brothers are already making mighty efforts about it ”.
