Join us this Halloween for a Toy Box of Terror-themed night. Expect plenty of creepy dolls, terrifying clowns, and all the bloody decor you can imagine. You won't be able to sleep for days - we're going all out with this one! As always, we've got entertainment from top bands and DJs... Saturday 28th - Dj Mistamina with a classic soul-ection of Funk, DIsco, and old-school bangers. Tuesday 31st - Live music from Baby-faced Blues Buskers, with acoustic covers of rock n' roll classics.

It’s (nearly) Christmas!

And it’s time to start planning parties..

If you haven’t started yet then fear not because we have. As one of Brighton’s busiest venues, we’ve got all the bases covered.

From the excellent chefs of our catering company, Space & Thyme, creating top quality, freshly made food, the beautifully dressed tables, a sheltered and heated garden to the best DJs and bands in town, cocktails and late night party atmosphere, this is the best place to keep going after the food is gone.

We are now taking bookings for the following;

24th November to 31st January (excluding Christmas day)

Buffets for groups of 10 - 100

3 course meals for 6 - 50.

Slap-bang in the middle of the Lanes, the Black Lion transforms daily from bustling foodie pub, to one of Brighton’s busiest late-night venues. With great blues and funk bands playing early in the week, to the city’s finest DJs spinning vinyl selections at the weekend, and a large heated and covered beer garden - this is a pub that covers all the bases. We aim to be the best in town at everything we do…and we do quite a lot!

Music plays a huge part in making the Black Lion what it is. Our DJs have a pretty simple brief: “keep ‘em smiling, make ‘em dance. Walk the fine line between accessible, edgy and educational. Don’t be a dick.” (see, pretty simple). You’ll hear new Old School Hip Hop, Northern Soul, Motown, Funk, Rock & Roll, Ska, Mod Revival, Indie & Punk - often on the same night. It’s a mixed bag, but so is Brighton and good people like good music of all genres. That’s why, every Friday and Saturday at 3am there are lots of nice people shouting for one more tune.
