I was talking about this with a friend but a really interesting cultural shift over the last ohhhhhh ten years maybe is that many people in fandoms view themselves as stakeholders and not audience members. Because of that, they think that the fandom should be running things, or at least have an acknowledged say in how something is run. And every reminder that they are not in control, no matter how small, bothers them.

Jax needs to announce he's transgender explicitly (because being cis is the default) for it to be believable. Because his death montage to "isn't she lovely" wasn't obvious enough. Because in order to be trans you need to come out/ start transitioning/start using pronouns and he wasn't doing any of that irl. Of course being trans isn't innate and something you are regardless of wether you acknowledge it to anyone else, wether you act on it or not. Being trans is explicitly about how society sees you and your gender expression and how others perceive your identity. This is not a toxic or terrible thing to internalise or imply to trans people.

Also why are we acting as if the default representation is the trans experience or a trans woman experiencing repressed dysphoria. Like why are we pretending that this is too obvious and overdone of a reading as opposed to the cis male character projecting his misogny and being insecure about femininity. Or just positing the other extreme that it's "too subtle" (gee wonder why that could be, in the year of 2026 where trans people are experiencing genocide)

How I look at people when I tell them I ship everyone in the circus with eachother (except kinger cause he's the dad) and I think if everyone was living out a relatively peaceful life in a digital oblivion that went on forever then I think they'd all amalgamate into human instrumentality anyways like evangelion and it wouldn't be weird cause they'd all be one.
