Hello? I should hope I'm doing this right.

Maya taught me how to read, and immediately suggested I make an account here. I'm starting to suspect that this was her entire motivation in helping me learn.

Regardless, I will probably be using this to talk about swords and horses, but feel free to drop by with a question!

Now, introductions! I am Adolin Kholin, currently staying in Azimir (not like there's anywhere else to really go). Not really going to delve very far into that.

Likes: Horses, duelling, I've grown very fond of strategy games, and the fantasy literature I'm being shown isn't all bad! I'm also a pretty good dancer, but I doubt that'd come up.

Dislikes: People like Sadeas, who can't see past their own ambitions for even a damn second. Now that I put it to... keys? I realise there isn't much I really hate.

I’m sure Gallant wouldn’t object to you petting him! Ryshadium aren’t magic, at least in the sense that they don’t have any abilities beyond that of an animal, but are incredibly intelligent! They form bonds with musicspren, which has a hand in their intelligence.

No, they don’t glow in the Physical Realm. But if you go to Shadesmar, you’d find that they leave behind a faint afterimage that does glow!

No, Ryshadium cannot fly. Well, not on their own. If you can make someone fly, then you can make a Ryshadium fly. That’s a long story though, and hardly relevant. It wasn’t flying either, more floating. Ryshadium are incredibly powerful and fast, though!

Well, this is a tough one. Seeing as Shardblades are entirely excluded, I’m inclined to go with either longsword or broadsword. I’ve always liked longswords - Maya’s physical form is itself much larger longsword, after all, but I do also find the Horneater broadswords very cool.

Then again, Maya is normally a larger longsword that looks very much like a Horneater broadsword, so I feel like saying those two swords is some degree of cheating. Regardless, those are the answers I’ve decided to go with.

I got rather distracted the last couple of days, so here’s a general update!

I’ve been training the other Unoathed in Zahel’s methods. It’s been somewhat slow going, aside from Yangwan. He’s got a knack for it, and I’m looking forward to seeing him improve.

No word from Urthiru still, last we heard was Dalinar’s apology, which… I don’t think I’m going to go into that on a public scale for now.

Anyway!

A couple new Unoathed members from Azimir, which is great! The rebuilding (I think I talked about it a few days ago?) is going great, there are far more people here then Kholinar, which is making progress work quick. Lots of people want to volunteer, so logistics and recourses are the only issues. Well, logistics would be if this was Alethkar. The Azish got things sorted and filed very quickly, so it’s mostly a question of recourses.

Also, I have been reading that series you people seem very invested in me reading. It’s very good, I’m enjoying it!

How goes your adventures with yaoi? Find any good ones?

Well, it turns out May (Aladar’s daughter) had a few recommendations. So yesterday she, Maya and I went to wander the markets in search of the books.

I’m going to get off topic, but I’m really happy with how well everyone has been able to bounce back after the invasion. Aside from the dome and some parts of the city, repairs have been underway very quickly, and it’s feeling more and more like we never even lost the dome. Goes to show how organised the Azish are, I suppose

Anyway, we found the series. Ended up with the first two issues of a series called ‘Ashyn Official’s Blessing’. Started book one, and I’ve got to say I’m enjoying it. I still don’t know what yaoi actually is, but I’m certainly going to be reading this series.

Not totally sure how to ask this, so count this as an out of character question - how “spoilery” are we allowed to ask questions? Tagged, I presume but what books? (Like if I wanted to ask a question about ROW, would I have to open it with “Rhythm of war spoilers:” and then my question?) thanks!

I try to tag Wand and Truth spoilers in all my posts. I’ve read all the Stormlight Archive books, but the wider cosmere I have yet to fully dive into. Sunlit Man is next on my last.

So, if you haven’t finished Wind and Truth, I advise avoiding this blog until afterwards, cause I’ve set Adolin after the events of the book. I’ve loosely touched on that, but I want to make that clear here.

So, feel free to ask me questions about stuff from any of the Stormlight books without having to preface them with spoilers! And if you haven’t read them, again, please avoid this blog so you don’t get spoiled!

I’ll keep tagging Stormlight Spoilers and wat spoilers in all my posts, but I’m not perfect and am bound to mess up, so avoid me just in case!

Be that as it may, Malasha started to grow cold after I refused to take her on a plateau run. Which seems like the obvious response? Still not quite sure why that was such a huge problem

Accidentally calling her Mashala was one time within the first days, so it’s hardly like that was a cause to anything.

Did you hear about the incident with Shallan taking Kaladin’s boots? Thoughts on it, if you have heard?

I have!

The gift of hindsight makes it an incredibly funny first meeting, especially with what’s happened since. We’ve come quite a long way from demanding boots from guards.

adolin, what do you say to the rumors of your relationship with kaladin being… not entirely platonic?

My relationship with Kaladin is entirely platonic. That isn’t to say I wouldn’t mind if it changed, but it is to say that I am married to Shallan with no other devotions of the like. While Shallan and I wouldn’t exactly oppose Kaladin joining us, I very much doubt Kaladin would accept without a long period of persuasion.

Hey Adolin! Do you have any advice on staying optimistic during rough times?

Thats a difficult one. Well, I’m normally able to focus on the more opportune future. I need to keep cherry and optimistic both for myself and for the people around me. It’s a necessity on the battlefield, and just overall helpful outside of it.

For advice, I’d suggest focusing on whatever you succeed in. Even if things go horribly wrong, you’ll still have succeeded in something. Acknowledging not just failure, but success as well goes along way, at least for me.

But do remember that my advice isn’t universal. It might not work for you, and that’s alright! Everyone is different, and I’m sure there will be people around you who would happily give you advice more tailored to you!
