Side note, I try to mostly use screen shots from the show to gussy up my posts, but I also occasionally use gifs from the bank they have available on Tumblr. I am unclear on the Tumblr etiquette for using such gifs, SO:
If you see I have used your gif and do not want it to be attached to my stuff for any reason at all, please reach out via DM, comment, or ask and let me know. You don't even have to give me the reason(s), I will be happy to correct this!
Headcanons for the little ways they show their love and support for their significant other...
~~~
Power Loader
Higari checks on your car. Any time you drive to his place or meet him somewhere, one of the first things he does is tell you to cut the engine and pop the hood so he can do a little wellness check. Makes sure fluid levels are good, oil's clean, etc. It's a bit weird, but you realize it's kind of a love language for him. An act of service, plus making sure you are safe.
This of course also applies to when you notice something, you can always call him up to get his opinion on an unusual noise or feeling, or something not working right. He'll want to fix it for you, too. You feel a little bad like you're imposing; say you'll take it to a shop, and he'll look a bit disgruntled. Says you can do that if you want to of course, but it's really no problem.
(Meet cute where he gives you a battery jump)
Spinner
Shuichi checks your home security whenever he drops by, testing windows etc to make sure there aren't any vulnerabilities. He is the only villain who will be skulking around your place, thank you very much.
Hangs out with you when you're sick. He can't really catch most diseases that thrive in mammals, so there's no need to worry. He'll just sit with you and play some games (headphones if you need quiet, or showing the screen if you want some entertainment). Plus, his cool skin feels soooo nice when you have a fever, you practically beg him to rest a hand on your forehead.
Gang Orca
Kugo treats you to the most relaxing dinner dates when you're stressed (or just because). He sets up a table in the Okuto Island Aquarium (he's the director) after hours, somewhere that the lights can be adjusted to come from just the surrounding tanks. It's a beautiful scene, private, with some lovely takeout to share as the reflective light shimmers over the two of you. Doesn't even have to be particularly fancy or expensive food. Sure on an anniversary or special occasion, he'll wear a suit and get you something extra special. But some nights it's just casual, eating a pizza or noodles or something from the cafeteria. He just enjoys the quality time spent together.
If you're interested, he'll also let you have some exclusive behind the scenes interactions with the animals (feeding, petting, etc).
I'm not sure if you'd do him again, but I really enjoyed ryo and his 'enemies to lovers' cat teacher partner! It's been a while since kinktober, but I LOVED their dynamic <3
Nah I definitely would, I like Hounddog a lot, he's fun! I was actually thinking about them not too long ago, specifically headcanons for the whole staff, so I'll take this as a sign from the universe to go ahead with that ☺️
(Y'all can pretty much bring up anything I've posted no matter how long it's been btw, it's all swirling around in my brain vortex)
Cat!Teacher reader w/UA Staff HCs
Ryo Inui/HoundDog
Enemies to frenemies to lovenemies
The two of you fight like...
Your secondary natures clash too much, subtle differences in natural body language are accidental insults. A tail raised high and pointed eye contact signal aggression.
Interestingly enough, you're both kind of in the therapy role for students, him as counsellor, you as healer. While you normally butt heads no matter who is around, if a student needs help, you will both prioritize their well-being over your ongoing quarrel. Of course, you are much gentler with students, and will scold Ryo when he starts with the tough love and growling.
Chiyo Shuzenji/Recovery Girl
Mentor
You join the UA staff as her protege. She's getting up there in years, and the war took a lot out of her, so she wanted to get an assistant to train as a replacement.
Your quirk is mostly a mutation, having some feline features and behaviors. But there is an emitter element that works through your purr. The vibrations work similarly to Chiyo's greatly accelerating the healing process. It works better the closer you are to the subject, best if you are hugging them.
Even if they don't need physical healing, most find your purr remarkably soothing. Chiyo often finds herself dozing off while you take on the bulk of the work because the sound is so calming.
Shota Aizawa/Eraserhead
Platonic Soulmates
Aizawa's demeanor is extremely polite by cat standards. He is quiet. He slow blinks. He has an unimposing posture most of the time.
You even have similar interests! You like kittens and naps and ribbons, and of course, taking care of the students.
Aizawa has a sincere appreciation for the healing aspects of your quirk. The highest traffic for the nurse's office comes from his chaotic Class A, after all.
He's less appreciative of the rumors started by some students Mina that the two of you are secret lovers. You are in fact just really good close friends.
You often fall asleep leaning against each other. Especially when the staff goes out as a group and you're all up late, maybe drinking, you'll end up passing out in a booth together. Or you'll have a nap in the teacher's lounge.
Sekijiro Kan/Vlad King
Vlad's only issue with you comes from his bulldog getting worked up and barking aggressively when it sees you. Eventually the two of you set up a little meet and greet so he could teach the dog that you were okay. Now, he still barks, and it still startles you, but it is a friendly bark.
As Ryo's bestie on staff, he also has a unique perspective on your relationship. At first, he's a sounding board for his friend's numerous complaints about you. He catches on to Ryu's feelings long before either of you do, so he'll just be listening to Hounddog bitch about you while biting his tongue, thinking I'm just gonna mind my business and not get involved.
Eventually it's too much and he's like, "so you seem to think about her a lot, have you maybe considered why that is?" And this gets Ryo so flustered that he devolves into a snarling, howling mess, and nothing constructive came of it.
Principal Nezu
Professional, but weird. Your feline pheromones make him uncomfortable, even if he doesn't show it. The smell biologically repulses him, so he tends to maintain a healthy distance when you have to share a room. Also will not turn his back on you, which you understand, as you have to consciously tamp down your prey drive around him.
Higari Maijima/Power Loader
Likes you just fine, you get along okay for the most part. There's just one thing that drives him up a wall, and that is your compulsion to go after anything sitting near the edge of a table or shelf.
There's always something small sitting on a workbench. And sometimes he would catch you staring, pupils blown, or even reaching towards it slowly, as if drawn in by some unseen force. In these instances, he could intervene, either with a SHOO or a spray bottle. Other times, he was not so lucky, and only became aware of your mischievous intentions when the clatter of metal on the floor would make him jump, only to find you standing by innocently.
You are now completely banned from the development studio.
Hizashi Yamada/Present Mic
BANE of your existence, even moreso than the dogs. He's nice, yes, but sooo inclined to making sudden loud noises that scare the hell out of you.
However, he REALLY likes and appreciates one particular trait of yours, and that is your talent for tracking and annihilating bugs. You'll do it too, any time, because anything is better than listening to him shriek because a centipede crept out of his desk or a huge spider has taken up residence in his room.
Toshinori Yagi/All Might
Initially, you didn't care much for All Might, on similar grounds as the Present Mic thing. The sudden proclamation of "I am here" used to make your tail puff up in agitation.
You like him better as he is now, more quiet and calm than he was in his prime. He's actually pretty touched by this, as he often feels that his true self is a disappointment.
You treat Yagi to regular physical therapy, sitting close together so your purr can encourage healing on his heavily damaged body. You are beyond pleased when you hear Midoriya observe aloud that All Might seems to be coughing up blood far less often.
Anan Kurose/Thirteen
Adores your quirk! She admires heroes who use their quirks to help people rather than fight. While you can fight, you prefer using your purr to heal.
Another very close friend. You often confide in her, whether it be about mourning your mutual friend Midnight, or about your complicated relationship with Hounddog.
She found the best spot to scratch just under your ears to cheer you up.
Ken Ishiyama/Cementoss
Work friends. He's quiet and calm, so you are at ease around him. He crafted a wonderful cement slab for you as a birthday gift, in your favorite sunning spot. It is the perfect shape for napping, gets nice and warm, and is perfectly smooth.
Lunch Rush
One of your favorite people. What can you say, he makes all of your favorites and you can be a very food driven creature 🐓🦐🐟
Ectoplasm
You had a small misunderstanding early into working together. Sometimes Ectoplasm is shown with a smoky discharge coming out of his mouth. You mistook this for a vape cloud or actual smoke, and presumed that he is therefore fine around smoking.
So when you boldly pull out one of your hand-rolled catnip cigarillos in front of him, he's like 'MA'AM please do not smoke a giant joint where the students can see'. And you have to explain it's just the nip.
In the end he's cool with you, he just thinks you're a bit of a deviant (affectionately).
Snipe
Has smoked the catnip with you, out of curiosity.
Bonus:
Nemuri Kayama/Midnight
You never got to work alongside Midnight at UA, sadly. But you knew her, having met as interns early in your hero careers, and occasionally working together as pros. You remained friends for many years.
Losing Nemuri was a driving force behind you going to UA to become a teacher.
Shoji meets the vigilante who helped him before, and tries to return the favor.
(CW: blood)
The metallic crash of your body hitting the fire escape echoed through the lonely alleys and forsaken streets. You hissed, letting your wings shrink back into arms so you could reach for the stinging wound on your upper back.
You were lucky; at a slightly different angle, that villain might have pierced right through you, rather than scratching your shoulder blade. In the end, the attack was to his own detriment. Stabbing at the person carrying you above the city skyline was a particularly unwise move - one that he only had to regret for a second.
You sniffed, pushing your palms into your eyes to try and banish the image. The end had been swift, but brutal, a firework on the cracked pavement. You thought about going back, and shook your head.
No, first order of business was, of course, first aid. Then regroup if possible, otherwise, report to base. If you didn't hear Canta playing within the next few minutes, then she probably headed back herself, you reasoned. It was often safer than signalling when villains - or heroes - were about.
It could have gone south the other day. You had felt so foolish, freely giving away information, mistaking such obvious provisional heroes for fellow vigilantes. Lucky again, that no real pros closed in. Could never trust who could discern between villains and vigilantes, and who wouldn't.
After testing several windows across two floors, you finally found one that opened, though reluctantly. You stumbled through, stepping in a sink and knocking down a set of long-dried dishes along the way, wincing as they crashed. "Fuck, sorry," you mumbled, to the ceramic shards and the long evacuated residents and the memory of the man you dropped. "Didn't mean it."
Even so, you poked into the fridge, stealing a soda and wolfing down anything that wasn't rotten or molded with a voracity you didn't know you had until you started eating. Feathers weren't cheap in terms of nutrients, and you had to take what you could get. You were still gnawing on a carrot as you wandered out to the sitting room, taking a seat on the couch and closing your eyes for what felt like the first time in years. This would be as good a place as any to attempt to treat yourself. More secluded than the kitchen, shades drawn, comfortable, empty-
"Thought that was you."
"Oh shit," you uttered as you scrambled to your feet, whirling to look at the intruder, and instantly realizing that it wasn't a stranger. It was the same hero, or student-hero, huge and strapping and clean cut. His six hands were raised in a gesture indicating peace. Even so, you didn't trust it. Your wings grew, though one dragged slightly when you tried to mantle. The hero's eyes drifted to the faltering limb, immediately clocking it.
"Are you hurt?" He took a concerned step forward. You glanced at the nearest window. He withdrew the step and continued to show his hands. "Hey, hey, don't do that. Look, it's just me."
"I know it's you. You're pretty memorable, Tentako."
"...Tentacole."
"...cute pun."
"Thanks." He attempted the step again. This time, your eyes remained locked with his. "I don't mean you any harm, and I have no intention of getting in your way. I just have a few questions."
"Geez, is this about the docks? You need a written statement or something?" You half-laughed, finally letting your arms relax and drop a bevy of feathers.
"No it's uhm, some personal questions, nothing official."
"I see." You tilted your head, trying not to snicker. "Well, my cup size is-"
"N-nonono nothing like that!"
You cackled at the young man's alarmed expression and creeping blush, then winced. "Well that's about as personal as I'll go. I'm not giving you any identifying info. If I live through this stupid war, I don't want to get arrested the second we win."
"I think you could get a pardon, given the circumstances." He watched as you fished through a belted pouch, setting out mismatched first aid supplies on the dusty table. "I would like to know why you're doing this. You should be finding somewhere to lay low, not putting yourself at risk."
"Somebody has to," you sighed.
"Yes, the heroes." You scoffed loudly at that. "You seem to hold a lot of animosity towards pro heroes."
You shrugged. "Hard not to, with everything that's been going on, right? I definitely have distaste for the whole excessive corruption and covering up violent crimes against women thing, et cetera~ But, what I'm doing mostly comes from an understanding that, if I waited for a hero to save me, I'd be dead meat."
"That's not-" he froze when you smacked a small pair of tongs onto the table.
"Look, I don't want to argue this with you right now, I just want to clean up and find my friend!"
"I didn't mean any offense."
"Well, if you ask questions and I answer them honestly, you're gonna get defensive at the very least, and I have barely slept the last couple days so I really don't have the brain awareness to be diplomatic or lie to make you feel better about your career choice, man!"
Your words hit him like a splash of frigid water. He watched silently as you went about trying to pour a small brown bottle over your shoulder, swearing when the clear liquid within followed a different path down your back and missed the wound entirely.
"May I help you?" You stopped and looked at him as he stepped closer. "Please. No one lasts long alone, right?"
You straightened when he echoed your words from the other day, gaze shifting from wary to curious. Finally, you sighed. "Sure. Just pour it right onto it. Let me know how deep it is."
He swallowed when you sat cross-legged on the bed, turning your back to him. Feathers poked through the wide grids of the fishnet all the way to your shoulder blades, even after shrinking your wings. It was just inside the left blade that a great smear of blood oozed from and obscured a darker wound. "What happened?" He asked softly.
"I don't want to talk about it." You tucked your arms in close, feeling the prickle of feathers creep down your clavicle.
"Did it have to do with what we found outside?"
Silence would have answered his question, but you still broke it. "...I didn't mean for that to happen. I flinched when he stabbed me, a-and he slipped."
Tentacole took a heavy breath. "Do you have any water? To wash off the blood?"
You shook your head. "Don't bother. Waste of good drinking water. The peroxide will clean it up enough."
"Kay. Sorry, it'll probably be cold. You, might be cold already, I'd imagine."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
Tentacole misheard the teasing lilt as an accusation. "Ah, nothing, sorry, just, your clothes seem like they might be...uh..."
Mercifully, you interjected. "My feathers keep me warm. I can grow enough to cover myself from neck to belly, or give myself a nice toasty hug."
"Oh, uh, that's good," he offered lamely, and tipped the bottle over what seemed to be the crown of the wound. Your giggle at his bashfulness morphed into a hiss as the liquid fizzed, washing away the blood and settling into the cut.
"Sorry, I should have warned you-"
"Nope, no, it's fine, it's easier if I'm not bracing for it." Your voice was forced from repressing a scream.
Shoji didn't remember creating another hand, but found himself holding yours anyway as he continued pouring the disinfectant over the cut, letting it wash away more and more. Eventually, he felt enough had washed away that, he could perhaps try again.
"I would really like to understand what's happening out here. So please. You can speak freely, and I won't treat it as a debate when you share your perspective."
"Whatever," you murmured tiredly, simply sounding resigned to your mistrust rather than dismissive. Still, he considered it a small victory that you allowed him to treat the wound. While it wasn't pristine, it was at least ready to be covered. He gently prodded around the stained edges, trying to determine what kind of bandage might be needed, and squinted in confusion.
Shoji was shocked when he realized what seemed so strange about the wound: it only touched skin, leaving the supposedly delicate mesh completely unscathed. The silk even protected the skin, breaking up the wound into segments. While the overall length of the injury was nearly as long as his hand, each cut was only a centimeter or so long. "It's not deep...not at all. What's this material?"
"Hm?" You tried peering over your shoulder. "OH. That. Beautiful isn't it? Our Nee-senpai makes it. Super strong, but still lets me use my quirk."
"This is, another one of your vigilante friends?"
"Mhm. She's the best! Got to get equipment somehow. Plus she does most of our medical stuff, and she's sooooo sweet!" When you looked up, the hero was smiling enough for it to show in the squint of his eyes. "What?"
"It's nice, hearing you speak so highly of your comrade. It's important to be proud of those we fight with."
You giggled a bit at that, but not at him. "You're so serious. ...but yeah. She's really impressive. Could have been great in real hero support work or fashion."
"Could have been?" He urged you to continue, as he retrieved a sterile pad from his own supplies to hold firmly against the wound.
You grimaced, a bitter imitation of a smile. "Hard to hold down a job when it's socially acceptable for people to panic at the sight of you. This is spider silk."
"I see. ...but, it is possible to succeed in hero work, even if some people are afraid of you."
You fought to not roll your eyes. "Yeah, you can also succeed in hero work if you're fat or ugly or do super illegal shit, but you have to have a dick."
Shoji opened his mouth, and paused, perhaps trying to think of any heroes who exceeded those criteria. "...huh. There... are far less female heteromorphs who are heroes."
"Yeah, and they're all still subject to extreme beauty standards. Most are kemonomimi, or at least have normal faces the closer you get to the top of the list. Have to be able to pass as normal, or, be a fetish. And I mean they still get scrutinized, Mirko's a super hot bunny lady and I've seen people online bitching about how much muscle she has."
He had to snort at that. "That's a pretty ridiculous critique for someone who fights for a living."
"Right!? No one was ever like 'oh man All Might has way too much bicep'!" You shared a giggle with the young pro, and sighed. "...I know you probably catch shit too. But for girls, our value is equated so much with our looks over our skills, it's exhausting. It was a relief to let go of that, so me and my friends could do what we felt was right without worrying about that scrutiny."
"I'm sorry that you all felt forced down that path. I wish things could have been different. It's a loss on our part, not to have you on our side."
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend. We're actually not as anti-hero as the other groups." You considered him for a moment before speaking again. "Yanno, I actually wanted to go pro. Was on my way to it too. But the more I saw and heard and learned, the less I liked about it."
"Like what?"
"...I could never fly. My quirk looks unseemly when I try to go all out with it. Got discouraged by teachers, made fun of by peers. The top student once told me once that I could be bakkushan, if I lost enough weight."
"That's...a very cruel and unnecessary thing to say."
"Right? My ass is fantastic. But I get it with the face, even outside of the creepy eyes." You tilted your head just so, and a haunting light glimmered behind the holes in your mask.
"Still-"
"It's fine. Helped make it easier to drop out, not having any attachments. So when we became a 'shelter', that was the last straw."
"What's wrong with that?"
Your expression soured. "We were so picky with who we let in. No one would be comfortable with possible villains. Anyone who looked like a monster wouldn't be let in. I watched them chase off 'scary' heteromorphs who were begging for help for themselves, for their children."
"Then one day there was an evac at a nearby primary school. And after they filtered in everyone who was eligible, there was this gaggle of little kids left out. One of the teachers talked to them for a bit, then handed this little lizard looking girl a phone with a path to the next nearest shelter on a GPS, and went right back inside."
"All scary looking quirks, or looked enough like a famous villain that they wouldn't bring 'em in because their dad might be Spinner and that could bring trouble, for the shelter or for the kid, but it was just a bullshit excuse to not waste resources on undesirables. And I was already pretty fed up. So I grabbed a bunch of supplies, told them all that they were a fucking embarrassment, and walked those kids to the next shelter like a mama quail."
He blinked, alarmed as he digested your story. "I...am so sorry, that would have me incensed too, but at least, I assume you got them to that shelter?"
"We got there, but they were still mutants and now I was there looking all frazzled and had my wings on, so they didn't let us in either. Nor the next, or the one after that."
"That so..." Tentacole frowned, furrowing his brow at the floor. UA had always been taking in heteromorphs. If so many other shelters were denying them sanctuary, then, logically, there should be a very high percentage. But there didn't seem to be, so where- "What happened to them? Did you ever find a shelter? UA permits heteromorphs, if..." He didn't want to say, 'if they're still alive.'
"They're doing just fine. We found the Sukeban. She took us in, and let me join her faction so I could help out. We protect those that the heroes won't."
"'Won't'?" He echoed, not missing the pointed choice of word.
"Heroes don't save monsters or mutants, or girls like us. So we're gonna save ourselves, and try to help any many others as possible in the process."
"Thank you, for lending your strength like this. Especially as we try to regroup."
You looked back over the wounded shoulder. "...you really mean that." It wasn't a question, just a statement marked with soft realization. You could see the curve of a gentle smile under that mask, and felt a pleasant turn in your stomach.
An uncomfortable, apologetic look settled on his face then. "So, it's stopped bleeding, but, I'm going to have to, ah, go under to bandage this."
"O-oh, yeah, that's fine." You stared straight ahead, hoping to hide your blush as he gingerly lifted the netting to tape a new, clean gauze pad over the injury. All big, gentle hands trying to be polite as he treated you. It was, nice, to be cared for like this. Even if it was just a ruse to get answers.
"So, you mentioned before that you're in a... with a group of vigilantes, all heteromorph women and girls?"
You sighed and scratched at your face. "Honestly, I didn't mean to tell you all that, that was a mistake, I thought-"
"Other vigilantes, yeah, I understand. Look, we're on the same side, aren't we? We all want to protect people."
"That's not usually what pros are after. The money and fame are more important than actually saving people."
He shrugged agreeably. "That's true for some. Maybe most. But for me, I do want to save people. I want to make a better future."
You tilted your head, trying to read those eyes in the absence of a full expression. And, despite everything, you believed him.
And he seemed to realize that. One hand of six was brought up to his chest. "My real name is Mezo Shoji."
"...I'm not telling you my name."
"You don't have to. Pro Heroes' names are usually public knowledge anyway. I just wanted you to know."
"...Kay, Sho'. ...It's Harpya, remember."
"Okay."
There was a moment of quiet understanding between the two of you, that gave you a sense of peace so rare in these tumultuous times. All you could see were his eyes; all he could see was your mouth. But you still shared a mutually reassuring smile.
Finally, you cleared your throat, subconsciously fussing with your hair as you packed your things. "Sooo, this has been lovely. But I gotta get back to the other gals, give my report, all that jazz. It was actually really nice talking to you, Tentacole. Shoji."
"Wait!" Shoji couldn't hide his surprise when you actually settled back down, letting him speak. "Before you go, I wanted to ask if you've seen someone specific."
"Missing family?"
"Classmate," he corrected, and your mouth pulled into a sympathetic grimace.
"Not a lot of unaccompanied hero students around, I'm afraid." Shoji's shoulders began to slump, so you added quickly, "got a pic?"
"Ah, yes, sorry." He took his phone from his pocket, trying to find a photo with Midoriya somewhere in his sparse gallery. Eventually, he had to zoom in on a larger group shot. "That's him. With the green curly hair."
"...huh...that kinda looks like Jade Rabbit."
"Jade...Rabbit?"
"Well, that's just what we've been calling him because of the green bunny costume."
"All Might," Shoji sighed, and you tilted your head. "It's to emulate All Might. With the hair shape and the smile."
"Ah. It does not come across that way," you had adjusted your tone to overly polite, making Shoji chuckle at the contrast.
"But, you HAVE seen him? Is he alright?"
"He was alive, last I saw."
The hesitance in your voice made Shoji frown. "But...?"
"But...he seemed really out of it. Seen some people get like that out here, they just, get into a mode. Everything is so constant, they feel like they can't stop, just keep pushing on, even when they need to take a break."
"When did you see him last?"
"I can't really remember. At least yesterday. Maybe a couple days back? Time's been getting blurry, I'll be honest with you."
"...maybe you need to take a break, too."
"I'll sleep when I'm dead," you proclaimed with overdramatic airs. He watched as you stretched, your fingers growing disproportionately, creating the framework for great wings that reached from one wall to the other before you tucked them in close to your body. "I'll keep an eye out for your buddy. Let him know he's been called home for supper."
"Thank you. Sincerely."
"I can't promise he'll listen."
"That's okay, I appreciate the effort anyway." Shoji bowed his head, then dug into his pack. "Please, take these."
You stared in disbelief at his outstretched hands. The offering wasn't much, a few protein bars and first aid items, but one might have thought it was pure gold the way you looked at it. "Seriously? You're sure?"
"I can always restock. You need it more than I." He nodded again. "Please."
"Th-thanks." Shoji ignored the fluttery sensation in his chest when you turned slightly allowing him access to your bag in acceptance of the gifts. And this time, when you left, he was grateful for the opportunity to say farewell and part on good terms.
I had fun with that Kama x Mermaid!reader req, so here are some supplemental HCs!
(cw: blood, suggestive content)
~~~
Kamakiri is human, but still gets a unique look. He has a bunch of tattoos (mostly done by Manga), all done in a green pigment that tends to bleed, giving much of his body a greenish tint with darker lines of the actual tat patterns. He also has a healed Glasgow smile, and piercings through his cheeks and in the corners of his lips.
The class B group here is a pirate crew captained by Kendo. They fly an orange Jolly Roger (real pirates did have varying flag colors, the black with white skull is just the most popularized version).
He met his mermaid when she "saved" him after he fell in the water during a battle with another group of pirates. He spent a month stranded on a small tropical island, during which you brought him food and supplies. Things escalated very quickly (near death experience + lost at sea with no one else around + nude mermaid = a month of partying like consequences don't exist)
Kendo eventually passed nearby, and you (somewhat reluctantly) flagged her down so that Kamakiri could resume his life at sea. However, instead of saying goodbye, he invited you to follow the ship, which you happily agreed to.
You become a sort of auxillary crew member. You don't serve on the ship itself, but you help in other ways, especially with navigation. Not only can you help read currents, you can see obstacles hidden under the surface. This has made Kendo's crew a nightmare to face in treacherous waters, as her ship is the only one able to avoid unseen dangers that tear up rival ships.
Kamakiri takes immense pride in having you as a partner. It's not a frilly, 'oo mermaids are so pretty and mysterious and one likes me' thing. It's more along the lines of, 'my hot wretched fishwife is an agent of chaos who helps me in my career and also eats my enemies'.
Because yes, he will toss his defeated foes to you. By merfolk standards, this is an intense romantic gesture, by showing one can protect as well as provide for a mate. And he will go so far as to gloat about this to opponents before kicking them overboard, or slicing off a hand to toss your way like a bloody bouquet.
You have your relaxed moments together too, of course, where he sets the main ship's dinghy into the water so you can cuddle up and chat privately and canoodle. His crewmates generally have the courtesy to let you have your privacy, although there have been incidents wherein someone glances down and sees WAY too much (in one instance leading to a very awkward line of questioning at dinner where Kamakiri was forced to angrily explain a cloaca).
The crew hides their treasure in a secluded sea cave, occasionally adding to the hoard or withdrawing gold. You too add to the cave's treasure, in secret.
No one is even aware of the eggs you deposited until the next visit, when you warn everyone not to go into the water until you can ensure that your ravenous offspring won't cause any harm. The mer-fry are small, but great in number, and tend to swarm any perceived intruders like piranha. You are an exception, as they instinctively recognize their parents, and you are able to teach them to leave other individuals alone. They still nip, but it isn't the feeding frenzy that other unwanted guests would be subjected to.
The crew ultimately decides that having such a dedicated security system around their treasure is pretty useful. Some are more welcoming than others. Many of the crew take to feeding them scraps to help them imprint. Tetsutetsu calls himself uncle and tries to befriend them. Shishida is immensely frustrated in his failed attempts to get a head count.
Parenting is primarily hands off within your species, and the fry are self sufficient. However, they will cluster around you for security. Same goes for Kamakiri. At first, he's a bit wary of the ravenous swarm he sired, especially after seeing them reduce an unlucky seagull to bones in mere seconds. But, at your urging, he finally submerges a hand in the water, and you catch him grinning to himself as the little ones swim between his fingers or fight over who gets to hide against his palm.
(perception shift from 'holy shit these things are horrific' to 'aw these things are horrific and they love me' 🥲)
Was thinking about an ask for a while but I finally got an idea.. maybe a mermaid reader and a pirate Kamakiri?
Oh. OHHHH my goodness absolutely, I'm really into this, so I'm going to do a little fic here, then some seperate HCs for the future of the couple soon. Pirate Kama goes so hard. He's already p much wearing a Dread Pirate Roberts getup as his hero costume anyway, fact
(cw: blood, alcohol)
A Moment
You were accustomed to finding treasures below the waves. But it was a rare day indeed when one fell from above.
It was common for a clashing of ships to draw the interest of local merfolk. It often meant food, in the form of strange things in cargo holds of sunken ships...or, in sailors who plunged overboard. Some meat arrived dead, slain by a foe before sliding unceremoniously into the open water and dragged down. Others were still alive, ready to tread water, thinking that their goal should be getting back to a ship, not realizing the danger lurking below.
Amidst the carnage and cry of cannons, two figures plunged in near you, still fighting through their fall. With movements slowed by the water, they squabbled and tore at one another, unaware that no matter who lost, there would be no victor.
You grabbed onto the nearest one by chance, the sharp little nails on your webbed fingers digging into his shoulders from behind as your needle-like fangs sank into his neck. The sweet, salty taste filled your mouth and clouded the water, and it was through that rosy hue that you first saw him.
The longer part of his hair danced in the current like seaweed, and his wide eyes held that same gorgeous green hue. You'd never seen a human so tall, nearly matching you in length with your flowing iridescent fins. Two silver points glinted on his cheeks, drawing your fascinated gaze to the jewelry.
Your jaw opened in subtle wonder, letting his former opponent float away. Another mer quickly snatched away the dead man, and you reached for you new prize, meaning to claim him before another could steal him away. Bubbles emerged from his mouth in a warning shout, and you watched his air ascend with concern.
He didn't trust you. Why should he, how could he? He couldn't know that you were trying to bring him to the surface; humans became so disoriented underwater, often confusing which way to swim. For all he knew, you were trying to drag him down. You expected no better, and so, you simply worked around his attempts to fend you off. Tried to take hold of any of his long limbs, and finding it surprising when he shook you off each time. Such marvellous strength, you thought.
Luck let you push him towards the surface, giving him a breath of life. And misfortune sent a burst of rubble to rain down from one of the ships, chunks of heavy, splintered wood barely missing him, until one didn't.
~~~
A Day
The man was easier to manage once unconscious, allowing you to drag him far away from the fray and the other scavengers. But, even as he lay safe on the shore of an uninhabited island, you worried he might not wake.
So you waited beside him into the dawn, occasionally circling the shallows to keep from drying out, but mostly laying on your belly and just, staring. First light was dazzling, catching on the piercings that decorated his cheeks. You noticed now that they were buried in old scars leading to the corners of his thin lips.
Faint breath still passed his lips, yet a fly attempted to land on them. Scowling, you shooed it away, and began fussing over your pirate to keep any other daring pests away. His hair, dried and sticky from salt, crunched when you pushed it away from his eyes. Even so, it felt nice, as did the soft shorn hair at the sides of his head.
A terse frown pulled at your lips, and you glanced about. Finding yourself alone, you moved closer, and lay your head upon his lean, hard chest, listening to the heart thudding away steadily within. Your own was fluttering by now. You sighed at his warmth, then coughed at the unfamiliarity of a deep breath in your amphibious lungs.
Green eyes shot open, and in a split second you were on your back. He seemed even larger now, looming over you, surprisingly heavy where he straddled your waist above your tail. One massive hand was at your throat, threatening to dig into your gills, as the other arm reached back into a waterlogged boot and returned with a small dagger. All the while, those eyes stayed locked on you, the shrunken pupils drowning in sea green.
"You shoulda killed me when you had the chance," he snarled in a rough voice. Like barnacles in the throat, your people might call it. You liked it.
"I wasn't...wasn't going to hurt you." The insistent sincerity in your voice gave him pause, made him squint and blink hard, trying to force his eyes to focus.
"...Why were you on me like that?"
Your fins curled bashfully. "Ah, I was listening to your heart. To make sure you were still alive." That was somewhat true, anyway.
He was quiet, still trying to make sense, to focus and reorient himself. "...you were there," his voice softened in the realization, but quickly sharpened again. "What happened?"
"You hit your head-"
"NO! The battle, how did it end?"
"One of the ships was sinking, I think."
"You think?"
"I was leaving with you, I didn't see it go under completely, but it was definitely..."
"Which one?" You tilted your head, and he elaborated in an angry tone barely hiding his worry. "Which ship went down?! ...there were flags, jolly rogers, did you see which ship got away?"
You closed your eyes, trying to picture it. "Ships all look the same from underneath. The one that sailed away...had a lighter flag. Red, or-"
"Orange? Orange with a skull?"
You nodded. "Yes, that's right. I thought it was burning, but it wasn't, that was the color, like sunrise."
The weight on your middle lessened slightly. "So, it got away? They definitely made it?" You nodded. With a heavy sigh of relief, the pirate rolled off of you. "Good. Good."
For a moment, you were both still, side by side in the sand. He lay one arm over his eyes, shielding the morning sun, and showing a myriad of faded green pictures decorating his skin. You slowly sat up. "So that was, your boat?"
"Not mine, but my friends were on it."
"So you have a pod?"
He snorted. "A crew."
"What about a mate?"
He snorted, moved his arm to look at you. "Excuse me?"
"It's a reasonable question!" You defended, scowling.
"Fine," he acquiesced. He sat up, nose to nose with you. "But first, you're going to answer why I'm here and not fish food."
"Your kind can't live in water, and this was the closest land with living things."
"Hm. That's not a good answer. You and me both know that the whole mermaids saving people thing is bullshit. I saw you, you, start to eat a man before you moved on to me."
"We save people sometimes. Under special circumstances."
He narrowed his eyes at your light tone and coy smile. But, eventually, he answered. "Name's Kamakiri. And no, I don't have a, mate."
You beamed.
A Week
"Kamakiri!"
The man looked up from the fire he'd been carefully sustaining for the past several days. "Hey." He stood, brushing off his tattered trousers and making his way to meet you at the shore. "Whatcha got?"
"A shape! It's made out of boat stuff, fell off of one. You can use it for shade. And there might be something inside!"
"Alright," he grinned, wading out to pull as you pushed in the waterlogged crate. Your eagerness to please was not wasted on Kamakiri. Under most circumstances he'd be too proud to accept help from a doting stranger. But, if it meant survival, then he could tolerate it. Enjoy it, more like, though he'd never admit that much. He simply accepted the parade of presents, ranging from much needed food to helpful supplies to an utterly useless but admittedly pretty green shell.
And now, whatever was in this crate. It took some time to pry the lid open, but the effort was well worth it. "Oh, Yesss, now we're talkin'. Bet this stuff has been sitting down there for yeeears, good and aged."
You watched curiously as he extracted a discolored bottle from the crate, examining the brownish water still sloshing around inside, before digging through the seal with his dagger. Much to your shock, he fearlessly took a swig, shuddered, and whooped in delight.
"More like decades, GodDAMN!" He crouched at the water's edge, offering the bottle. "Want to try?"
"What is it?" You wrinkled your nose distrustfully.
"It's rum. You drink it to have fun."
You obeyed, and immediately coughed it out, much to Kamakiri's amusement. He only laughed harder when you asked, "WHAT, what the fuck, you can't drink seawater but you drink that for fun?!"
"Good, right?"
"NO!" You gagged.
He chuckled. "It grows on you. It makes your head go fuzzy after you drink enough."
"If you can keep it down! Eugh!"
Kamakiri's next laugh was more good natured. "Okay, I'll try and make it more palatable for you, hold on." Leaving the bottle half buried in the sand, he stood, and strode away, briefly disappearing into the dense shrubbery.
The island wasn't large, but it was occupied by some plants; most importantly, coconut trees. Their fruits had provided fresh drink, and their leaves shade. He returned shortly with a coconut from his stash, more than half empty by now, but that was perfect for his purpose. You watched curiously as he poured the stinging water into the small opening in the shell, which he covered before vigorously shaking the mixture.
When he offered the new blend, you drew back suspiciously. "C'mon, I'm not trying to trick you. This time."
Still scowling, you took it. It smelled...less sharp, at least. So you took a more reserved sip, followed by a longer one. "Oh!"
"Slow down, I don't know what kind of tolerance mermaids have."
~~~
Not that it mattered. There were plenty of coconuts and dozens of bottles. The first hour was spent getting hazy. The next few were a blur of stories and jokes, cackling and singing badly and frolicking together in waist deep water. The excitement crescendoed with Kamakiri throwing a bottle into the fire and you had never seen a burst of flame like that, so close, so beautiful and wild like this man you had spirited away.
Things settled after that, and now you lay together as you had that first dawn. Only now he was present, one arm draped around your bare shoulders while the other lazily swirled a near empty bottle.
"This has to be the best way to be stranded at sea," he mused blearily.
You hiccuped and curled against him, wanting nothing more than to be as close as possible, then closer. "Your markings are pretty," you slurred, touching the unusual green shapes on his forearms.
"Hm?" He squinted, then nodded with realization. "They're tattoos. Drawings, you pierce the skin then add pigment, so they stay forever. Ink or gunpowder usually, but I have my own special recipe for this color."
"Pretty," you repeated, following the slightly raised skin. The shape almost looked like a many-legged creature, with long eye stalks. "Is it, a kind of crab?"
"Beetle. See that's the head, legs, antenna, the wings."
"What about that one?"
"A dragonfly. And a stag beetle on this hand. My favorite is the mantis, on this arm, and another kind on my shoulder..."
Your disappointment when he sat up was short lived, as he peeled off his shirt and vest to show off the collection of line work that made his body appear greenish from his neck to his navel. And probably further.
"So many..."
"Mhm. I see so many different insects in the places we travel. They're amazing little beasts. I have some saved, back on the ship. No one better've messed with 'em while I'm away..."
The mention of his old life made you nervous, urged you to try and shift course. "You said you needed to pierce skin, wasn't it painful?"
He looked smug as he grinned and shrugged. "Sure, but I can tolerate some pain. Trains me so I can fight through pain in battle."
"You like fighting?"
"Nothing makes me feel more alive than a good fight. There's a rush to it, yanno? Fighting for your life, then conquering your enemy. I was absolutely going to win, before you jumped in, you know. By the boats? Had him right where I wanted him, you stole that one."
"...want to fight me?" You suggested, playfully.
He snorted. "Wouldn't be much of a fight, you're beached."
You scowled at him, and he mocked your expression by scowling back. Suddenly you raised your tail, slapping him across the shins with your heavy tailfin.
"OW! Why you little-!"
A delighted shriek escaped you as he pounced, straddling your fin just below where it joined your human half. There was no violence or urgency to the struggle, if it could even be called that. Just playful wrestling; giggling and grabbing and halfheartedly shoving.
Finally you stopped struggling, still giggling as he panted, grinning down at you in gleeful victory. You felt the satisfaction of victory as well, tummy fluttering and heart somersaulting when his lips crashed to yours in a demanding kiss.
~~~
A Month
When you saw it, you weren't sure what to do. The Jolly Roger, all orange like an old bloodstain, standing stark against the sky high above that ship that you wished you didn't recognize.
They were still far away. You had travelled farther than usual in your daily hunt. The island wasn't in sight, and they weren't even going towards it. They would miss it, leaving him to be yours forever on that perfect dream of an island, away from all else.
You frowned, and ducked below the waves.
~~~
Kamakiri was sleeping in the shade of his shelter when he felt a hand on his shoulder, heard his name in a soft, feminine voice muddled by semiconsciousness. He didn't bother opening his eyes, merely scoffing at the knowledge that you had once again decided to drag yourself over the beach to visit him. Foolish, as that always dried you out, and he'd have to haul you back to the shallows.
Yet, it was endearing, to think you were so attached to him that you would defy your nature to lay beside him just because you missed him. So a smile tugged at his lips as he sleepily muttered, "Sweet, we talked about this, I'll come to you, no need to-"
The next touch was a sharper slap, accompanied by a playfully offended, "I'm not your sweetling, get your ass up!"
Kamakiri's eyes shot open as he sat up, and was shocked to see a familiar grin full of sharpened teeth. "Setsuna?!"
"Mhm." He let himself be pulled to his feet in a daze.
"H-how-?"
"Your little friend led us here." His crew mate's mischievous grin widened. "I get it if you aren't ready to be rescued~"
It was a dream. It had to be. Then again, Kamakiri often felt the same way about spending his days making love to a mermaid under the sun. But after so many nights, drifting off wondering if he might see his friends or faraway lands ever again, to be found and rescued...
The captain herself had come to shore with a small party. Kendo greeted him happily, asking after his health and hunger, telling him how shocked they were when a mermaid of all things flagged down the ship and claimed to know when their lost crewmate was. Tetsutetsu nearly broke his back with a hearty clap on the back. Setsuna continued to tease as she gathered up the remnants of his supplies to bring aboard. Kamakiri stared at the ship and the crowd watching and waving from the deck.
Then his gaze drifted, and he spotted your head bobbing amidst the waves. And a sour feeling settled in his belly. "Captain, I need a minute."
Kendo followed his gaze, and smiled. "Take your time. And thank her again for us."
~~~
Your heart ached as you watched them go ashore and gather your beloved. Your tears melted freely into the sea as you saw yourself go from his everything to an afterthought. But, it couldn't be any other way. He would wither on that island, sooner or later. And that would be infinitely more painful to watch.
Then he was looking at you, waving as he wandered down a stony spit off the island. You felt yourself moving before you could even think about what to do, pulled along by some subconscious compulsion to be with him. You dove beneath the waves, and by the time you emerged again, he was sitting on a massive, flat rock that the two of you had shared countless times.
This time, you pulled yourself up to sit beside him, his feet and your fins kicking carelessly at the water. It was Kamakiri who finally spoke. "...I'm going. I guess you know that."
You nodded. "I'm glad, you've found your friends," you choked out, and it was almost true.
"I didn't find them though. You did."
"...yeah. I remembered that flag."
"Why'd you do that?"
You finally looked at him, eyes wide with shock. "Would- didn't you want me to?"
"Oh yeah, of course I did. I'm surprised that you did."
"...I...didn't. Not really. I wanted to keep on like this forever."
"So why didn't you just...not?"
"I thought about it," you admitted quietly, feeling shame gnaw at you. "For a moment. But you wouldn't have been happy being stuck like that, I'd take care of you but it would be hard on you, and if something happened to me then who knows what would happen to you all alone there. And even knowing that I considered just letting them go away. And I'm so sorry for that."
Kamakiri took a deep breath, then wrapped an arm around your quivering back to pull you against his side, patting your shoulder. "Nah, don't be. ...I thought about eating you the first couple days I was here."
You snorted, wiping away the fresh set of tears. "Well, you kinda did, later on."
He laughed through his grinning teeth. "We had fun." After a pause, he continued. "Even if, I can't stay, you know you could always follow the ship. Try that for a while."
For a moment, you just stared at him. Then, suddenly, you threw your arms around his neck, nearly knocking him over with the force of your embrace, and your kiss. But he caught himself, reflexively kissing black despite his surprise. You both ignored the chorus of cheers and mocking 'oooh's carrying over the water from the ship.
Finally you pulled back, barely, cupping his face as your thumbs toyed with his piercings. "...I've always preferred being migratory."
༄.° ┆ ( 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄: Not one, but TWO edgelord boyfriends. My own greed consumes me. (I told y'all I was cooking up something...) )
➼ Shoji and Tokoyami are super close — they consider themselves each other's best friend, so to get a crush on you, you would've had to be close to them as well (Demiromantic kings<3). Maybe it started out as a friend group thing, while it deteriorated to something more along the years you three were together...
➼ They weren't (and aren't), by any means, jealous of each other. Mezo and Fumikage aren't jealous people in general (or they at least don't show it). And when one hinted the other at having a crush on you, they had a full on logical conversation about which one of them could stay with you — until they realised that you obviously had a choice in the matter — and confessed themselves, offering you to pick.
➼ Offering to date them both was treated more like an experiment sort of thing... They weren't absolutely sure of what it might entail, but followed along to see to exactly where it led. Getting comfortable being a throuple wasn't anything short of familiar, and they never lie when they tell you it absolutely got them closer at a more intimate level.
➼ When it comes to their protectiveness, I'd say they're not very protective of you at a hovering-over-your-shoulder level... They personally think you can handle taking care of yourself on your own. But if you ever need a bit of two intimidating boyfriends by your side, they've 100% got your back. They're your personal bodyguards when you need them.
➼ With the overall intimidating appearances, Shoji and Tokoyami are actually sweethearts deep down. They've got a side of themselves that they rarely ever show to anyone else. Mezo tends to show himself as quiet and brooding to the public eye, but in private, between you and Tokoyami, he's more playful and laid-back and often teases you about whatever. Fumikage is almost the same; the edgy persona is still very much there, but you notice how he's the tiniest bit more humorous with you too. He often joins in with Shoji to tease you.
➼ Location and time of your dates are often debated for a considerably high amount of time. Considering your preferences, Tokoyami's urge for a dramatic and romantic spot, and Shoji's need of a simple calm and warm place to relax should all be balanced. But then again, Mezo is probably the most selfless out of the three of you — and lets you and Fumikage argue in which places are better to have your dates at. Small moments spent just bickering between each other while Shoji watches with a pair of arms crossed and an amused grin.
➼ Speaking of your time together... The group's designated activity when the lot of you have nothing to do is cuddling. Mezo's bed was chosen to be The Spot™, so you'll keep finding yourselves all cuddling in his large futon from time to time. Or literally just chilling around his room doing whatever.
➼ Tokoyami and Shoji are a perfect balance for each other; whereas Fumikage is always quite stubborn during arguments, Mezo's understanding and can talk you both out of it. Shoji's lack of knowledge about being in a relationship that both you and Tokoyami have to teach him all about.
➼ They're not shy at all to show how much they love you and how much they love one another. But if you are a big fan of physical touch and PDA, you're gonna have to respect both their boundaries; they don't enjoy PDA all that much, but you're free to do whatever when the three of you are in the safety of your room. <3
Koji Koda x Reader NSFW HCs
(18+ MDNI; generally more afab!reader)
I do feel that Koda is A-spec, perhaps demisexual. So, his baseline sex drive is low anyway, and he needs to feel a deeper connection before he feels a drive to have sexual relations with another person.
Not very experienced, and rather cautious. He's a big guy with some rough features, who regularly handles small animals. Koda is very conscious of his strength, and controls it well. He is always really gentle. That's pretty much his only gear.
This is NOT to say he is boring. A gentle lover can be a beautiful thing! If you're someone who has trauma and/or a condition like vaginismus, this is spectacular news. You are never going to feel unsafe with this man. When he holds you, it feels like you are a delicate little bird.
If you do want something faster/rougher, then, you're going to have to go on top. And then give Koda aftercare because he will get pretty overwhelmed. He enjoys it, it's just, a lot.
Now, just because Koda is very gentle and sweet with traditional P in V (or A), this does not mean he's vanilla. He's kinky in some kind of weird but totally innocuous ways.
Pegging is very much on the table. Much like when he's on top doing the penetrating, Koda prefers a gentle touch when he's being penetrated. It's a vulnerable thing, and he wants the same kind of love and assurance he gives you in the same situation.
Koda has a wonderful figure, very broad with a muscle-fat physique. It's cute, but he's rather shy about it, especially early on in the relationship. Always gets suuuper flustered when you feel him up, he never gets over that. But he does love it.
He's especially self conscious about his chest, but he can't help but enjoy it when you squeeze him and play with his nipples. Likes doing a titty-69 where you are braced over him, hanging your breasts in his face while you suck on his.
Koda's horns are a smidge sensitive, if you know what I mean. They have feeling anyway, but they can become a secondary erogenous zone when there's a certain mood. It's like someone who likes their ears played with or hair pulled during sex.
You discovered this when, in the throes of passion, you grabbed onto his horns and Koji INSTANTLY nutted (much to his horror and your shock).
Now, you make a point not to grab so suddenly. Rather, you might gently stroke his horns or rub at the base of them as foreplay. Doing so during sex will also inevitably make him go a bit harder.
Koda is very into casual, non penetrative activities too. Huge fan of masturbating together while cuddling, feat: hand stuff. Hold onto his horns while he eats you out, he can and will hump the mattress to completion.
It takes a long time to get him to confess his fantasies. And he has to do so in writing because his voice just locks up when he tries to tell you, even though they're generally quite mild. Like, one was just doggy style and you were like "oh honey...yeah that can be arranged, that's not a big ask."
Other stuff, more abstract, but very chill and doable. His favorite is to just, lay in your lap, sucking on a nipple while you jerk him off with one hand and rub his horns with the other. That was a birthday ask that became a semi regular thing because it chills him out so much, it's like a factory reset on his anxiety every time.
The biggest surprise was the interest in a threesome, specifically with Shoji. Which, so long as he's not otherwise romantically entangled, Shoji will gladly partake in and be very touched that you both trust him like that.
Request idea 💡 here to share, Honenuki with a childhood friend (f)reader whose friendly, energetic, is the type to not know personal space, loves mythology story’s (idolize Sun Wukong) their in 1-A.
Quirk:Shapeshifting (turns into people, animals & non living things, needs energy or gets tired easily)
Yesss very good! I love the childhood friends to lovers trope AND shapeshifting powers! I'll be jumping around a little, but I'll try to break things down into categories.
Juzo x reader HCs
Background: how you are in Class A
Reader joins Class A starting second year. They failed the entrance exam, but got attention during the sports festival alongside Shinsou. Reader and Shinsou both trained (with Aizawa and Hounddog respectively) and were assessed during joint training.
The original plan was for each of you to join one of classes; you wanted B, so you could be with your friend Honenuki. Fate had different plans when 2 spots opened in Class A. You took Aoyama's seat 1, and Shinsou took seat 17 (alternate history, where Bakugo was not saved).
You feel a bit awkward in Class A for a while; not only did you get a seat in the class due to unfortunate circumstances, but you also don't know these classmates as well. Juzo had introduced you to his friends over the course of the first year, and you had been looking forward to joining that group.
You wind up getting along best with your nearest neighbors. Mina and Tsu are pleasant and personable; you were initially concerned that Mina might have bad blood after the sports festival, but she was totally fine and happy to move forward as friends.
Ojiro has an easygoing energy that reminds you of Honenuki. Also, while you would never tell him to his face, your admiration for Sun Wukong kind of contributes to your affinity for Ojiro. You wind up with a certain admiration for him that you just can't explain.
You also get on with Kirishima, as Tetsutetsu very solemnly tasked his bro with keeping an eye on you at the beginning of the year.
Shapeshifting
For the shape shifting quirk, we'll say it operates on Skrull logic. The user can transform into anything they have seen, but only within about 75% to 150% of their original volume; mass remains the same, but can be expanded/contracted to an extent.
Juzo has always found your quirk to be quite fascinating. When you were little, he would make requests and incorporate that into pretend games.
Hide and seek was always brutal, as you both would use your quirks to disappear. It most definitely could be considered cheating, if you weren't both having a great time doing it. Really it just made it more of a challenge, and resulted in you two getting a headstart on honing your quirks.
Juzo is used to your tendency to crash after intense quirk use. It's sort of like a sugar crash; one moment you are energetic and peppy, the next, you are leaning hard against his arm, already half asleep. He finds this remarkably endearing, treating it like a cat has fallen asleep on him, and thus, he cannot move.
Of course this also results in a lot of people assuming that you are a couple well before you actually start dating. Juzo will correct the assumption, but not in a hard denial sort of way. In fact, if someone (such as Kinoko, Setsuna, MINAAA) suggests that you would make a cute couple, he remains calm and is just like "oh, haha, you think so? 😁" Doesn't even blush, totally cool and unbothered as you drool against his shoulder.
Another side effect of Shapeshifting is the random body aches from spontaneously changing your entire structure. Lucky you, you have a super chill bestie who loves giving massages!
He just asks that you occasionally return the favor. You don't even have to be human to do so. Although, you did scare the hell out of several of his classmates when they returned to the class B dorm common room, only to find a jaguar kneading on Juzo's back. Monoma was 100% ready to accuse Koda of assassination by big cat.
In a Relationship
The two of you finally start dating in your third year, settling a number of bets among both classes (Mina had organized the betting pool, much to your chagrin).
Your sporadic energy meshes well with Juzo's flexible nature. He can easily match or mirror whatever you have going on, be it the usual pep in your step or the quirk-induced lethargy.
Juzo high-key looooves your disregard for personal space. He always has, and you two were cuddly even as just friends. Now? There's no holding back.
The cuddling is actually how things shifted from platonic to romantic. Some typical snuggling while watching a movie got a bit intense, and after some a spontaneous make out session, you were forced to have a conversation about your developing feelings.
Again, Juzo is sooo calm and mature and reasonable, it was easy to talk things through and feel reassured as you took the plunge into a new type of relationship with your lifelong bestie.
Quirk Combo?
Potentially, your quirks could combine into powers similar to Clayface; a quirk which allows the user to soften and reform their body, and even absorb or remove excess 'material', allowing them to modify their mass as well as their form.
so I know you made them like a year ago, but could I get mer Romero with Shark reader? Specifically how they first met, because I feel like both ended up being petty little jackasses upon the first meeting
Oh there's no statute of limitations on my stuff, you can always refer back to stuff from a year+ ago lol.
Moray Eel!Romero x Whitetip Reef Shark!reader (bc apparently these two species have beef irl): meet not really cute drabble
It is a lovely morning in the reef, and Romero is a terrible eel...
In all fairness, it WAS ultimately just a misunderstanding. You were both hunting for breakfast, in your own ways. And when Romero, an ambush predator, sees what appears to be the back end of a standard reef shark outside his coral lair, he naturally assumes that it's fair game.
Meanwhile, you are carefully stalking, preparing to pursue a tasty looking Lyretail...when an array of sharp fangs dig into your dorsal, and a long, slippery body starts to coil around yours'.
An elbow to the head makes Romero release his bite, though he remains loosely coiled around your tail in his confusion.
Incidentally, biting fins can mean something ELSE with sharks and shark-mer, so you are also rather flustered by what was basically a very forward courting gesture from a total stranger.
Whatever stupor the hit on the head put Romero into, the slap took him out of. "HEY!" An irate sneer settled onto the eel-mer's face, as the shark mermaid glared back at him with an indignant flush.
"Hey yourself! What's the matter with you? Don't put your nasty fangs on me like you know me!" You conveniently left out that you actually found the tickle of his many smooth, sharp teeth quite titillating.
"TCH! You're the one with the broken glass teeth! Don't flatter yourself, your rear end looked like a regular stupid shark, not a talking stupid shark." He refused to acknowledge that, jagged teeth aside, you were rather pretty, as shark mer went. Babe, tsym for feeding the underrated chara enthusiasts. I was disappointed that there wasn't much Shoji and Honenuki content but you have fed us. Thank you
Aw thank you! I pretty much started doing this because I got tired of not being able to find anything for the underrated characters I so adore, so I figured I'd write stuff for myself and if a few people liked it too then it would be a win-win.
