SUPER BELATED UPDATE TIME!!

I’m not even sure where to start as I think I wrote more since my last update that I might not have talked about.

Buuuuut anyway!!

I’ve been working on a new chapter the last few weeks (2.5 I guess, as it’s only Thursday and I finished it this afternoon) ... somewhat unfortunately it was another big one. I forget the exact word count but it was somewhere in between 12.5 - 13k words in length. And I know that just getting down as many words as you can when writing a first draft isn’t all bad, but how the hell does one edit a chapter that big?!

(I guess I’ll worry about that later, haha!)

Anyway, I haven’t emailed the chapter to my laptop yet so I can paste it into my chaptered word document yet, but I’ll do that either tonight or tomorrow.

As for the rest of this week, I think I might just take a break for the next few days. I’m way behind in my reading goal for this year (multiple reasons for that) and my weekend wouldn’t be making writing easy anyway (something I know I need to improve at working around... but I feel kinda burnt out right now so I’m not going to push it this time).

At least my next chapter should be fun to think about over the weekend though - it’s a Christmas one!!

From my last post and onwards...

After a fortnight where I somehow wrote a chapter that was 10,000 words long - I know, I’m stunned too - I was so exhausted I took a break.

I figured maybe that’d last week because my brain was so fried after that, that I honestly needed it. But it ended up being way longer... until last week where I atarted the next chapter - which involved a time jump sorely needed - and then I’ve kept that up. This new chapter’s up to 6000 words now so I’m hoping I can finish it within 2000 more words; that way I can cut out words I don’t need without it being as much of a mammoth task as the previous chapter will be.

I’d still like to get up to 10,000 words again by the end of this weekend but once the weekends roll around, I’m never quite sure what stage I’ll get to - even more so these days because I’m currently taking driving lessons and need to go shopping tomorrow afternoon. But I’m confident I’ll at least finish the chapter I’m working on now which was the next beat goal I had in mind.

Apologies for my lack of updates if you enjoy seeing what I’m up to - I’ll try and be better at that. Tumblr’s lack of ease in switching between accounts as opposed to Twitter, Instagram and Facebook is sooooo frustrating!

17/3/19 - Long time, no Instagram update... i’m afraid I’m not good at this - it’s hard to know what to post on IG sometimes! But anyway... I’ve gotten back into my writing over the last two weeks (some days more productive than others). This week has been more productive than last week - even Saturday, and those were really difficult during #Nanowrimo2018 - but I still fell short by just over 200 words of where I decided I wanted to be yesterday morning. Theeeeerefore, this is how many words I have to write today to get to 10K words for the fortnight. It feels like a tall order considering how it’s almost 4pm and I haven’t done anything, but I know what’s got to happen in the chapter I started yesterday which is *such* a big help. So, here are my thoughts as of this morning...

I’ve taken a much longer break from writing than I had ever intended to after Nanowrimo, and I’m really not happy with myself for doing that - as I imagine any of my fellow writers would understand.

But this week I was listening to an episode of “The Windsors”, a podcast about the Royal Family that I enjoy, and while I was running in time with it, my brain strung together a scene... not that I can remember any of it now, but the most important thing is that it happened.

Suffice it to say, I’m geared up to get my head back in the game today - which could be difficult as I have a party to attend, but it doesn’t have to be impossible! 😊

Day 30 of Nanowrimo, and beyond!

Sooooo as promised, here’s my word count for Day 30 of Nanowrimo 2018:

A grand total of 5879 words.

That’s what it took to wrap up the last day of this momentous challenge, which means my grand total was...

50,015 words!!

(Woohoo, I juuuust made it!)

There should have been an extra few hundred words but they went missing at some point in the preceding 48 hours so I had to make up for that plus account for the severe deficit I’d earnt myself with a few not-so-great days 😂

I’m really proud of what I achieved. It might not be as much as what some people did but the point is that I achieved my goal - especially when taking into account that I have a full-time job and go to the gym every day, as well as various personal/family commitments.

I haven’t started up writing again but I’m looking forward to doing so soon - and I hope you’ll continue to follow me as I go!

22/11/18 - So earlier that week, I found out that the Dymocks store near where I work was hosting an autograph signing with one of my favourite writers of all time, Jaclyn Moriarty. I took almost all of my books plus one I’m giving my sister for Christmas, and she graciously signed them all. It was so lovely to have a chat with her about the Ashbyry/Brookfield books plus my Nanowrimo pursuits, and she even recognized me from Twitter, mouse avatar and all.
