There are countless cafés around here. Why do we always end up with the ruder crowd? Honestly. Is there something in the coffee we serve that screams “jackass magnet”?
It's not the coffee, it's just the way people work.

"Oh, no. No, no, no, no. No. ‘May never forgive you’ doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface,” Marley snapped, surprised at the anger she had held onto for so long, but at the same time happy she was finally able to let it out. She had been waiting for the day where she could say everything she wanted to Blake, and it looked like it was today. “You broke my heart when you dumped me, you ran off with another girl and never spoke to me again. You don’t get to offer me help. Not only that, I would never accept it. In fact, I don’t want to be near you. I don’t want to work with you. I don’t want to talk to you. I don’t want to think about you.”
"And while we’re talking about depriving myself- I’m in no way depriving myself, if I don’t get a job here. I’m perfectly fine getting any job. I worked my ass off so I could do so, because I wanted to. I’m fine applying somewhere else, I can handle it on my own. So, thanks, but how about you go screw yourself, Blake Griffin." Breathing hard, Marley let her lips form a tight line. Her words had been full of venom like she’d never felt before. She’d been torn for so long between acting kind and succumbing to her hurt feelings, when the first time she saw Blake after what had happened came around. And she was ninety percent sure that had she still been in college, she would have forgiven the blonde. But she wasn’t in college anymore. Years had passed and Marley had finally grown a proper backbone, one she had so desperately needed.
To say the blonde was taken aback by how full of venom Marley's words were was an overstatement. Her face had hardened into an impassive mask as the brunette spoke, not because she was insensitive, but because after years of doing the same thing to herself, she grew numb to it. She deserved it. All of it, and she knew that. Shooting a glare towards someone who looked like they were going to walk down the hall they were in, Blake waited until the brunette was done before fixing her with an unreadable look and nodding. "Understood." She said hardly, unaware that her eyes were glazed over with tears, or that her jaw was quivering from trying to hold herself together.
She was numb to everything besides the feeling of numbness that had made itself at home in her, so while Marley's words did have their desired effect on her body, Blake's mind simply didn't register the pain that it was going through. "I wish you the best of luck, then." Turning on her heel, she pointed to the nearest exit, which was at the end of the hall. "There's the exit. However, if you want to still be considered reliable in the job market around here and let the man that you're supposed to be interviewed by know that you don't want the position anymore, his office is at the next right, before the exit." Her voice was flat, devoid of any emotion other than blandness, as she spoke. Pursing her lips in thought, Blake took in a deep sigh, squaring her shoulders before starting to walk back the way she came, completely unaware of the tears that were streaming down her face and the sob that was straining against her throat.

"You want to help me?" Her voice came out raspy and flat as she immediately responded to Blake, and Marley winced when she heard it.
"I’d rather go home." She mumbled, swallowing and clutching her papers that little bit tighter. Why did she suddenly feel like crying? What right did Blake have to- Be so nice? Make her remember things that… After all this time, she had wanted so badly to forget? Marley could feel her throat beginning to close. She had never gotten over the blonde’s betrayal, so like hell she was going to act like this was a blank slate, a new page. Blake seemed to excel at doing that, however, if evidence was anything to go by. “I’d get lost here, anyway. And I’ve never taught before, it wasn’t a good idea. I think I should go home.”
The question sounded so.. So mocking as it left her lips, and Blake couldn't help but flinch at the quality of Marley's voice. If body language was anything to go by, the blonde knew that the girl didn't want to be here, and she could even tell that Marley probably had everything that transpired between them at the forefront of her mind. The southern girl knew that she didn't even deserve to be in the woman's presence right now, but like had a funny way of throwing past mistakes in your face to haunt you.
"Don't lie to me." She said, brow furrowing slightly. "If I wasn't here, you'd be more than willing to apply for the job here. And-- ..I know you may never forgive me for what I did, and that's fine." she laughed, a bitter, exhausted tone layering her words. "But don't deprive yourself of a wonderful opportunity, and a great job. You shouldn't do that to yourself."

"Mm," Marley replied, still not trusting herself to speak. Her hand that had clutched her resumé so carefully, had now crumpled it completely. This- Was happening, yes, it was and she was actually here. Blake Griffin, her ex-girlfriend, old best friend… Essentially a girl that had once been everything to her, was here. Right in front of her, after all this time. If she could have spoken, Marley could think of nothing to say.
Hugging herself, she began to chew on her lip again, not sure how to respond or act, her job interview now all but forgotten in light of this strange and unexpected meeting.
Pressing her lips into a thin line, Blake knew that she wasn't going to get anywhere with this kind of conversation at the moment, so she decided instead to extend her hands towards the other girl. "Let me see your resumé." Blake muttered, eyes downcast at the paper that the brunette clutched in her hand.
"I know the guy who interviews and hires people, and..I can help, if you want."
