Born in Milwaukee in the 1970's Chris "Godxilla" Taylor learned early on that he had an aptitude to create music. The first instrument that he learned how to play was the Trumpet at the age of 12 years old. After being issued his first Trumpet from the Steuben Middle School band, he took it home and learned how to play the entire beginners book in the first weekend. That weekend lead to a life-long dedication to the art of songwriting. In a very quick time, Chris learned how to play the Baritone and Tuba. At the age of 16 he began playing the drums and keyboards at St. Matthews C.M.E. church in Milwaukee, WI. Every day after school, Chris would go directly to the church and practice on the Piano, drums and organ until choir rehearsal started in the evenings. By the age of 22, Chris was playing the Piano, Trumpet and Drums for Choirs at Jordan Missionary Baptist Church in Milwaukee, WI as an accomplished musician.
In that timespan, Chris also began programming drum machines and learning how to use multi-track recorders. His first recording session was at Firebird Recording Studios (Milwaukee, WI) in the mid 1980's at the age of 14. This path, in tandem with his musical development lead him to launch his own imprint "Ton Of Soul Records" along with his own studio, "Alcatraz Recording Studio". Also In the Mid 1990's, Chris also pursued another one of his child hood loves, Professional Wrestling. A spirited rivalry with his arch nemesis Alex "King Kong" Colon, afforded the brash young Chris "Tank Taylor" to make multiple references to himself as "Godzilla". The name stuck and eventually worked its way into his recordings as his new moniker.
Since that time Godxilla has released over 10 albums on his independent label with various artists under his music production guidance. His only solo release titled "Music is Medicine", became a Mid-West classic with a smash single on it titled "Last Call".
Outside of recording and mixing records for artists all over the State of Wisconsin, Chris "Godxilla" Taylor also works with many other organizations in the recording arts. He is an Avid Certified Pro Tools Expert and the Dean of Students at Madison Media Institute in Madison, Wisconsin. Chris is also a Commissioner for the City of Madison's Arts Commission
Chris Taylor Has an Associate’s Degree in Recording and Music Technology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Entertainment Media Business both from Madison Media Institute. Chris also has a Master’s Degree in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University.
