-when japan swims, the water pushes her weight up, but on the ground all the weight goes to her legs and to support herself she needs more strength, so the legs get thicker obviously

-"why didn't you just make her legs longer?"

cause axolotl's back and front legs have the same length so i had to draw her legs shorter yey

hi! do you mind sharing your brush settings? your brushes are so amazing

hey!! /) ; _ ;(\ im so flattered omg /// my brush settings are nothing special but id recommend just googling a bunch of elemaps and textures and just messing around!! these are the ones i use the most, i usually just add textures like fabric in a case by case basis if i decide i need them!! im still very new to using sai textures though orz

a lot of what i do is mostly using a basic pen as follows and erasing to get the shape i want:

but im also like SOOO messy and i have shaky hands so that’s actually more of a drawback lmfaoogndjkgdf

here are my more fun brushes off the top of my head!!!! if you need the elemaps just let me know since i got a lot of them off google orz

hmm what also helps in getting brush variety is varying the movement and weight of your hand to the brush!!!! this way you can get a lot of shapes and different #Looks out of one brush!! lmfao heres a janky example i made BUT this is just using the flat elemap!! so you can get a lot of different shapes etc :

ive never really made a tutorial before but i thought i’d try!

all my portrait paintings are done on a 2000-3000 pixel canvas with 300 dpi using the two brushes shown above with varying opacity

(note: a flat steak brush texture can be found in many basic deviantart paint tool sai brush downloads! don’t worry if it’s not the exact one im using, i have several from different sources and they all generally do the same thing with the right settings)
