…That would be a slight dilemma for Q, who had not intended to become distracted with such droll tasks, but he couldn’t simply deny her assistance. He remained quiet, merely listening to the young girl until she had finished stammering her way through sentences.
Pursing his lips slightly, he nodded, a small but automatic smile lighting upon his features.
“‘Course. I’d appreciate the help.”
M would have nagged at him for that. He was supposed to remain on track, and having a student lollying about the library would hardly be much of a help to him. But still… if she could take care of the actual job while he got down to work on dealing with Silva, then perhaps he could use her to advantage.
“I’ll show you around…”
His steps were soft as he led her to the library, sharp gaze moving about to take in their surroundings—- nothing was out of the ordinary.
Q had found himself becoming worried that Silva would simply show up one day —— or, even worse, that he and 007 would receive word that the Spaniard had, in actuality, infiltrated their headquarters back in England. It wouldn’t be the first time that that had happened, nor the second, truly.
Once they’d entered the library, he brought her to his desk, waving a hand casually towards a neat stack of books. The rest of the table was surprisingly organized, compared to the rest of the place. “If you wouldn’t mind, I’d appreciate it if you could just.. put back those books, they should be in alphabetical order, of course—- in return, I could show you around, perhaps help you with your schoolwork..”
“Does that sound good to you?”
So ...this guy couldn't be so bad, now could he! She makes an effort to keep her footsteps quiet, sticking close for the while. 'You're in here all by yourself? Quite a lot to manage, especially with term papers and the like coming around.' She glances to and fro between the aisles, making note of the finer details of this collection. She'd have all the time ever to get fully acquainted with these in time, so for now she'd just - skim, and revert her attention attention to the roped-in tour guide.
Maybe this could be nice after all.
When they stop, her eyes for some reason flit back to the desk and she nods absent-mindedly. She was listening, of course. but aside from her imposing as his volunteer, this was quite easily the first time someone had offered her any help instead -- though pulling away from the situation a little, it more than seemed fair of a trade off. 'Mm. - -I'll be sure to take you up on it,' her shoulders hitch up and she nabs the stack of books, gathering them into her arms.
'I'll -leave you to your work then. Thank you for the tour, I'm sure I'll. be able to figure out most of it on my own...'
Come just under an hour later, '...-- Pssst, um. Mr. Librarian.' Could he hear her? She wasn't sure. Though thanks to the higher ceiling, her sounds should have carried just fine the first time around. There were only the two of them, so there should be no listing her efforts to grab his attention as something else.
Make no mistake, Ibara wasn't about to shout across the whole expanse of the library. Much less, was she going to cart the overly ambitious tower of books that were teetering in responsibility of her arms. That could end up in an easy catastrophe. '--- Psssstt, I know you're working, but um.
Do you -have a ladder in here...?'
