It's there when your favourite onigiri becomes the daily special on the days you come in. It's there when he takes a little longer to make your food, making sure that he uses the freshest ingredients to make the most perfectly shaped rice ball. It's there when he takes his time closing up on the days you work late because he knows that sometimes, you don't make it to his store before he "officially" closes. It's there when the old aunties joke about finding him a woman to make an honest man out of him, and his gaze shifts to you for a brief second before he flirtatiously responds that they "are all he needs". It's there when he makes note of the candies you pick from the jar near the register and always orders them in when he's running low. He's content to love you subtly because it's become his new normal. And maybe one day he will muster up the courage to declare his love to the world, but for now, his love for you echoes softly within the four walls of his shop.
