“It’s okay.” Sherlock blushed and looked down. “I… I just wanted to know when I’ll see you again.”

He smiled at him. “Whenever you like. You’re always welcome in my home. In fact, would you like to just sleep here tonight? It’s getting late. I wouldn’t want you to have to walk all the way back in the dark.”

He jumped at the kiss and blushed. He cleared his throat. “Um – How much longer are you going to be sick?”

“Sorry, was that- ah, was that alright?” He asked, looking concerned. “I don’t know how long I’ll be sick. Probably not too long. Maybe a day or so.”

Sherlock rested his forehead against John’s. “I’m sorry I had to get you involved… You’re a good human.”

He kissed his nose. “You too. And don’t worry about it. I’m glad I’m involved.”

“You don’t need to take care of me, if that’s what you think. I have the dragon.” It was probably good he couldn’t cry. For some reason he suddenly wanted to.

“That’s not what I’m saying. I enjoy your company. And the dragon’s. And I won’t run off when I know the villagers will try to harm you. That wouldn’t be right. We’re going to figure this out.” He squeezed his hand. “I promise.”

Sherlock looked down at their hands, then entwined their fingers. “You barely know me,” he murmured. “You are isolating from your kind. It would be better for you to find a village and try to rebuild your life.” He felt sad. “I wish I could come with you.”

He shook his head. “I’m not leaving. I won’t abandon you just to make my life easier. Besides,” He gave him a small smile. “if I left I’d miss you too much.”

“No good.” He watched John for a second. He looked down. “I can’t ask you to give up your life for me,” he said quietly.

He watched him for a moment before taking his hand. “I can’t go back, Sherlock. I wouldn’t just be turning my back on you, I’d be turning my back on what I believe. And I won’t do either.” He said, giving him a gentle smile.
